Since you're buying the rig already, no reason to not use it for ETH miinng to defray part of the cost.

It's NOT a good setup JUST for mining though - the GTx1080 is horrid on hash/$ basis though it's good efficiency on hash/W, and the rest is severe overkill for a single-card mining rig.

The thread now being in Altcoin...

You can mine Ethereum to make a bit of money back from that big chunk of money. Its definitively a personal PC for gaming, and not a mining rig. But i also mine with my one gaming rig to recoup (some of?)the costs. The only difference is i went for AMD (even though i much prefer NVIDIA GPU stability over AMD's many many issues) for the best profitability.

But really, i am considering something like a 1080 TI, whenever/IF as well. Specially with the VR scene blooming lately. NVidia is usually often poor. (It has been for most of my experience in the last 2+ years.)

Will try Ethereum soon after got my 1080 GTX.

Btw, can i ask you about Ethereum soon?

You can come by the IRC, but be careful with 1080 GTX its not supported much yet.

Hello guys, im going to setup my RIF with the following spec:

Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VIII EXTREME
RAM: RAM Trident Z 3400MHz 16GB X4
Proc: Intel Core i7-6700k
HD: Samsung 950 PRO M.2 512GB
PSU: Corsair AX860i
Cooler: Corsair H115i
GC: Asus ROG STRIX-GTX1080-O8G (still waiting)

Yes i know mining with PC is not good decision and I already have S7 antminer.

This RIG i want use it for gaming, in the same time why not use it for mining right?

So what do you think guys with this spec, good for mining?

You're posting in the bitcoin mining section... It's a really bad idear to mine bitcoins with your CPU/GPU, you'll use a lot of power and destroy your rig while making allmost nothing (maybe not even enough to make a withdrawal from the pool you're mining on).
You'll have better luck mining some altcoins, i found this table for the GTX960 http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/asus-strix-gtx-960/ you'll have to make your own benchmark, and see if there's a coin worth mining with that GPU of yours.

Thanks for suggestion Smiley
