Time to lock this. The troll has seen my topic, no need to feed him more.

I am not sure what exactly he's trying to gain from the list and the endless self-moderated posts except maybe trying to troll around. He seems to be a person who wants to troll but at the same time is a complete coward and fears to get trolled back.

I think we should keep ignoring him and his posts. Eventually the troll will leave like many others have done before.

The solution to this type of problem is ban.
If this happens, they will start complaining how the forum is high censored and does not accept free speech.

Guy is just creating topic after topic trying to be a troll and self moderating all of them. He obviously doesn't have any couth or care for the way the forum operates. As we all know, trolls go away after awhile once people stop replying in their topics and giving them attention.

That's one of the negative effects of trolls in the forum. His account is tagged and he will just decide to do anything that occurs to him without recourse because he has nothing to lose. The solution to this type of problem is ban.

I have always had the impression that the change of name feature of this forum was merely for fun and nothing serious without knowing that the intention was related to privacy. My thinking was based on the points I have given above. If there are ways of hiding the history and previous activities of individuals when they change their names, then we can attach the world privacy to such exercise.

As theymos mentioned in his post, whatever you post online could be archived very quickly. When it comes to Bitcointalk, at least two known services archive your post within a second. When someone changes their username, their account still contains their posts. Not only that, they are still on the trust list of people, and the feedback they received and given remains the same. So, a name change doesn't change much, it's just a name change and that's it. Otherwise, I have created my account with my real name and I would have asked for a name change as well. But I am not doing that because I don't think a name change will affect me much.

I don't want to post in the troll's self-moderated topics, but I wonder if he's seen this post:
Why are you guys posting the old names of people who clearly needed their names changed for privacy reasons? Obviously any data posted online is going to be quickly archived somewhere, but that doesn't mean that your highlighting/reposting of it has no effect. In some cases you may literally be putting lives in danger. If you were investigating a scam or something, that'd be different, but you seem to just be indiscriminately & recklessly dredging up data that would best be forgotten.
I think this is a major problem in the forum because it is practically difficult for a popular person to change name unnoticed. If you change name in this forum, it will take just few posts from you before you are noticed and simply checking the post history and interactions will reveal the individual. For instance, when Ratimov changed name, the post history never changed neither did his posting pattern or the things he has been know for changed. The same can be said about Royse who is a campaign manager; change of name does not really change anything about him other than the name that appear more fanciful now.
