Crypto is diverse, the opportunities aren't limited to a particular section likewise the risks, it is possible to have made all the researches and still invest in a particular altcoins whereas someone how didn't do any will buy a particular ICO and it becomes successful. The problem behind some ICO's these days is that the projects may look good but no one knows if the managers and owners have any ulterior motivate

What's with coinmarketcap and it looks like you are relying too much with it?

It is not a basic thing to do. There are lots of other ways to prove a scam or not. Just because they are not listed there means it will be a scam in the long run.
There is a road map you know? It is just traders who are forcing to be listed in a crappy exchange just so they could play with the price, manipulate it and then take profit.

Sure it is risky to invest with ICO but what if they are offering a feature that would really be useful after the product is created?
That will take long but I do believe it will be a blast.

I think your reason is very reasonable, in my opinion if investing coins already registered in coinmarketcap is more safer. Investing in the ICO project is very profitable but must be careful in choosing the ICO project.

It has its own truth, because really many projects today are scam projects, so sometimes it seems to me that I will stop investing, but then after a good and correct investment, which eventually brings me earnings, I do not think so anymore.

It is better now to just invest in the coin and make sure that you are keeping the money you are using right now away from icos. Icos now are way too hard to get profits from as there are now way too many scammers hiding under the guise of icos and making off with people's money. It is better to just hold the coins that you have and wait for the bull

also, be aware that many coins listed in the market would not necessarily have the assurance of being able to develop well. currently on the market even many junk coins that settle below and this certainly makes the coin becomes look bad. Indeed the ICO many scams in it, but there are also among which is the ICO with nice systems. so I think it is good to invest in ICO or just stay the same crypto has risks.

but most of the crypto coins or altcoins that are on the market also come from ico, and even today there are still many new altcoins coming from an ico, so in my opinion there is no harm in investing in ico, it's just that it depends on the selected ico , you should choose ico who really has good prospects for the future if have entered the market.

A very good reason and I like it, because I also have to take part in the ICO which is always chosen by the ICO who will make it to the market.
If I choose altcoins that are already on the market, that's my advice, as trading with Bitcoin.

As there are lots of fake ICO's in market, so you should avoid ICO and try to invest in crypto currency.

Your reason is very good, it makes sense. ICO is not worthy of our trust now. Your suggestion is to trade coins that have been listed on the trading market, but there are problems here. Most of the coins listed on the exchange are also ICO coins, so I don't think this will solve the problems ICO is facing now.
My current recommendation is not to participate in any ICO, nor to buy these new coins, to trade those old mainstream currencies until we see the ICO rules forced to change

actually, invest either in crypto or ICO alike could produce the same and also would risk. When the ICO does not reach the softcap certainly will not run and it took the ICO are indeed interesting election so that it can produce. However, if the crypto also is in precisely the same thing also does not produce if sold in a position value of a loss.

It is quite clear, ICOs are attacked with scams and cryptocurrencies are more suitable for investments thanks for their supporting from the value and position on the market.

To put it bluntly, I think that this is the right decision that a person should take, but there is a very high probability that the world will not receive new projects and new ideas in this case. This is inevitable you understand?

This is what i would advice,... Invest in cryptocurrencies listed on coin market cap and forget ICOs.
Reasons:
1. Coins listed on coin market cap are more reliable to invest in than coin yet to be listed on coin market cap/being offered during initial sales.
2. Lately most ICOs are scam.
3. Lately most ICOs do not reach their soft cap. Hence, chances are, you may either get you money back same or depreciated or loss it entirely
4. Coins listed on coin market cap have been listed on most trading sites. Hence, you get the chance to participate in any form of trading you desire.

Caution:
Before you invest in a particular coin listed on coin market cap
1. Take a careful look at the price graph of coins and decide which coin interest you
2. Read more about how to invest in your desired coin. the pros and cons.
3. Work your way out to make your first investment.

Before you invest in an ICO,
1. Gain indepth knowledge about every aspect of the Project
2. Ask yourself whether the Project is worth your investment?.
3. Ask yourself would other people have interest in the project?
4. Ask yourself whether, the project has greater chance of hitting it soft and hard cap during token sale?
5. Measure your level of suspicion of scam behind the project.

Remember: if soft cap is not achieved the project becomes unsuccessful, Hence your investment might be interrupted
If soft cap and hard cap are achieved, probability of the team running away with your money is pretty high.
Therefore becareful the kinda ICOs you invest in

The above is entirely my opinion. Please share yours below if you agree or disagree
There is nothing better than to invest in cryptocurrencies. Minimal risk of loss of funds and obvious profit. I don't know how to ignore it.

I actually agree with you on what you said concerning ICOs that do run away once they achieved either soft cap or hard cap. I happened to be a witness of such scenario back in 2017 when I invested in Ethconnect ICO. The Ethconnect ICO achieved its hardcap and even increased it but the admins ran away with over $20million.

Investing into ICOs can be profitable as not many people are aware of the potential of the project and if getting a good bonus there is good chance for making a 10 x profit when the coin enter the market.
With established coins and in declining market such profits are not possible.

You obviously don´t know what you are talking about. If softcap is not reached funds should be returned, and with a public team there would be legal consequences in "just running". If they are planning to do an exit scam it does not matter if they reach the hard cap or not, they will take whatever they got and hit the road.

Yes I agree with you. I think investing on cryptocurrencies are more reliable than investing on ICOs. The most important reason is when we invest on an established altcoin, we already know that if it is a scam or not. But, identifying scams on ICO projects are really difficult.

the main reason which you forgot among your list of reasons is that when you invest in an altcoin that has already been around it means you have some history to work with.
for example an altcoin that has been around for at least a couple of weeks has an established market and a nice chart that you can look at to see the volumes, the current price and the changes of it throughout all its lifetime,... and you can use all that to analyze the coin and make a better investment decision and reduce the risks of your investment.

That's true but I think what he's saying basically is more on the legitimacy or reliability of the coin that you are looking at investing into, because he specifically pointed out the scams in ICO lately.

Yes, you have prepared and researched very thoroughly. However, the downward trend from the beginning of the year still affect investor sentiment. Based on that, it can be seen that the trend of the cryptocurrency market will never be separated from bitcoin.

I completely agree! But, without certain experience, Trading and Hodling are risky. The most acceptable method of investing at the moment is ICO. For a more successful contribution, you need to carefully analyze the project. Identify is necessary for the market side. For example, the Kelvin Blockchain project has an innovative method of encryption, transmission, storage, and security. All this is based on quantum computing. Thus becoming in demand in the future. I managed to participate in several ICO, some I earned quite well, I can say with certainty, for a good project, it must have potential for the future, that it will be needed in five years. Unfortunately most projects do not have this potential. I was lucky and I came across a project focused on protecting against hacking quantum processors, and to maximize the use of all the advantages of new technologies, project Kelvin Blockchain, you need at least to consider, because not every day there is such a good option for investing money.

Agreed.  Lots of ICOs seem like straightout scams or destined to fail.  Crypto is a little easier to understand I think on a mass level, and therefore will get most of the investment attention.  Still a huge risk for crypto, but one that people are getting more use to taking.

The pros and cons have been justified in a valid way. But we are forgetting that altcoins were the one who raised money for the ICO. Nevertheless, the mass audience over here will also be in favour of the investment towards cryptocurrencies.

Which is why I do not invest in ICO's. I just participate in bounties. Though all investments made will be sent back to the investors when the ICO fails, there will be losses due to the charges. But many of us are brave enough to take that risk because once an ICO succeeds, rewards are truly great!

Yeah, I'd rather avoid investing my own money in ICOs, they are unestablished projects and the risk you take when you spend your money on them is bigger than going for example with the crypto market directly, I'm not saying that everyone should avoid investing in them, because the promising projects (which you can still find nowadays) still need people to finance them, otherwise they won't get anywhere.

I think why you stop for ico investment maybe you still do not know the right ico to buy so you are still often wrong for ico investment so you get a lot of losses, in fact you can get very much benefit from the existing ico, because from ico you can get a bonus when you buy in the beginning ingga more than 30%, ico must have to require a very high patience to do the price increase but do not worry it will surely provide benefits for you.

Definitely agree with your opinion, the simple way is you gain high you have high risk and you gain low you have a low risk. Investing your money in crypto which is listed on coinmarketcap or maybe top ten from there is have a low risk than investing in ICO.

You mean all coins listed in coinmarketcap is reliable? Not the best thing to assume.

Bitconnect was listed on coinmarketcap, it was like on top 10 before it suddenly went crashing down to almost zero. ICOs aren't totally scam. ICOs keep the cryptocurrency markets flowing, the money behind all those ICOs are going to be traded one every exchanges. The teams are going to be buying their tokens again as they bet their own company to be one of the best.

In our current market climate, it doesn't make sense to invest in ICO's as most trade below ICO price once they hit the exchanges. If you want to buy the coin of a new project, you should see how it does a week after it comes out and save yourself some eth or btc.

Ico's and cryptocurrency markets were the same. We don't know when the market is supportive and when it is out of the the growth track. With reputed cryptocurrency, that is with altcoins it is possible to predict the outcome to some extent. With ico's the growth prediction is impossible, if growth happens need to profit through it else just need to stay holding it.

Investing on ALTcoin is very a simple process, any one with idea about trend analysis and research can invest on ALTcoins but to invest on ICOs you need to have eye to identify a project with potential and great cause. But, ICO market is less volatile than ALTcoins. So both of them have their pros and cons.

As cryptocurrencies that are already listed in exchanges with a circulating supply it is more established and trusted by investors and traders alike, as compared to ICOs that even if the project is good there is still a chance that it will flop depending on many factors like price manipulation or lost of interest of investors.

That's right . Investing to some altcoins which have good techology will make you safer and more profit than ICOs at the moment . As you know altcoins such as XVG , KMD, IOTA, XLM... have stable technologies and exchanges for trading  but the ICO projecst have nothing and the investors only have the personal trust on them.

Sometimes, it is easier to invest in ALTcoins because of the track record or footprint available, you can easily predict or analyze the nature of it's growth or dip. However, ICOs are like pure gambles, no proven track record rather you have to invest based on your analyzation and faith. But, both can be profitable if invested with extensive research and information.

Well, but you must also e very careful when selecting a coin to invest because that coin might be hyped or influenced to increase in price and you may be dumped on. Always make Bitcoin your first choice anyways. Also, though there are many unsuccessful ICOs and scam ones around, there are good ones as well and people have made money from that.

You might right but I think investing in ICO is also profitable in some cases. There is some problems in almost every sector but that doesn't mean that it will not succeed. But it's true that everyone must be cautious while investing in crypto market.

What you said in the discussion is really helpful for the initiators but should not completely deny ICOs. ICO has a real amount of opportunities though there are many chances of scam what everywhere in the world is. If you came to crypto-space to gain, you must consider the risks. You should be always cautious and always try to be updated with knowledge and act in the right time. Take decisions considering your own interest in it.

I think while there are lots of reasons to invest in cryptocurrencies, there is no reason to invest in most tokens. I am not talking about pros and cons of investing in tokens there is really no reason! I only invest in tokens like oax as they care for decentralization.

Even while investing in a coin that has already been listed, one needs to do that carefully. I invested into a coin recently, well fortunately for me, i sold it when i realized i had got some profit. Just recently, i had to check back to see the progress of the coin. To my amazement, it has plunged and it's still struggling to rise. It has also been delisted from one of the exchanges.
Research is very essentially before investing into both ICO and coins already listed.

alt coins have some issues with policies, transparency and mining which is too vague, as well as unstable for investors looking for stability. In this case looking at the market for a new growth and analyzing it, the most consistently uprising was BTC. so now you know where to invest.

ICOs as the name say, is the initial coin offering so you don't have knowledge of the crypto record that it has. I personally don't agree 100% with you point but I understand. In my opinion ICOs are good options but you have to do a obligatory research about their team, vision, where they are located, investors, public acceptance, etc. There Arévalo too many factors that involves a good ICO so don't throw all of it away just for a bad experience or just for a lazy research you did. Good investments comes with good research and a ton of work Smiley

There has been a recent trend of projects cancelling ICOs and funding through private investors only and a large bounty campaign to distrubute tokens to smaller holders and promote the project.
It seem's like a model without many downsides, small investors are risk free as all they are investing is time, project is happy because they get cheap promotion and private investors still get to invest.

As my opinion because I was also invest my money in this both categories cryptocurrencies and also in ICO's its better to be meticulous before you decide to invest your money in that certain ICO, because as what you have said and it was very true that their are many ICO are involved in scamming but not all that is why we have to be careful in choosing it.

I have great doubts about this statement. As an example, take two projects: Fantom and Vite. What can you say for these projects, they are not on "coin market cap".!?

Basically, I agree with you. But no one says that in ICOs you need to invest all your money. Despite the fact that the situation in the ICO market is bad and a lot of failed projects, some of them can still give a good profit. Personally, I try to allocate 20-25% of my money for this, because I'm sure that if the market starts to grow, ICO projects will also show themselves well.

ICOs are not that bad for invest. But it will be risky for those who doesn’t want to research thoroughly before investing. And I prefer investing on popular coins like BTC, ETH etc.

This is totally up to you where you would like to invest your money. ANd I am unanimous with you on this that it is far safe to invest in coins than ICO. It is tough to find a legit  ICO and there is found a far difference between what the white paper of the icos says and what they actually deliver.

Every one is entitled to their opinions. Some will prefer ICO while the others will prefer BTC. Both of these have their own downsides and perks. But then again, if we had to choose just one, it will be BTC.

But even if you invest in altcoin, they used to raise money through ICO.
At present, most altcoin faces unstable policy factors, so I prefer to invest in BTC. Grin

the main reason which you forgot among your list of reasons is that when you invest in an altcoin that has already been around it means you have some history to work with.
for example an altcoin that has been around for at least a couple of weeks has an established market and a nice chart that you can look at to see the volumes, the current price and the changes of it throughout all its lifetime,... and you can use all that to analyze the coin and make a better investment decision and reduce the risks of your investment.
