received transaction after wallet backup - needs new backup or not?

ah good point, but i'd like to keep why wallet tidy so that's no option for me

No you don't need another backup since the address that incoming coins went in, is already in the backed up wallet.
You 'll probably need a backup if you send money because your wallet will create a new "changes" address.

technical question here..

I backup my wallet.

after that, I receive some more coins on that same address.
