Hi
I have over 70 receiving addresses in my multibit classic client, wallet. I have been using multibit since 2013 and never ran into this problem before.
A client paid me 2.2 btc. I copy pasted one of my receiving addresses from my multibit client (random one, since I have over 70, i always give random address from my list). So i copy pasted it fine to him.
20 minutes later he had informed me that he paid so i checked my multibit client and nothing there. I am used to blockchain delays and transfers sometimes taking 1-2 days to show so i went to blockchain.info and manually typed my address in there.
https://blockchain.info/address/1BdGu4xJnzcnoDtKTske3rrMhbb67c3n7NThat is the address in question. SO i see 2.2 btc transfered to it then very soon the same ammount getting transfered to a 3rd party address which i don't recognise. So i go into my receiving addresses tab in my multibit client to search for that address.
To my shock it's GONE. I don't even have the option to delete any of my receiving addresses so I could not have deleted it even if I wanted to. Also, the client stayed open all this time (From time i paste untill i saw the blockchain show the funds get to it), so no blockchain resets, crashes or anything like that. It simply vanioshed like WTF seriously
I went thru 30 different wallet-backup file's, all the way from 2013 and did not find that receiving address in any.
Can a receiving address simply dissapear? I am baffled
800$ down the drain i cannot believe it. I cannot sleep
I am scared to request another bitcoin payment from another client now.
