Absolutely untrue. Avalon is still selling... https://ehash.com

Yeah, but who's buying that overpriced, inefficient product ?

Apparently no one, lol. Too bad they're so overpriced. They actually look pretty cool.

Disregard the price per gh  and  they are actually better then the s-5 or the sp20.  clock them to 700gh you get .49 watts a gh and basically perfectly quiet.

the price is very high.  At ehash.com more then 2.1btc shipped

half true.  it is overpriced but I can squeeze .45 watts a gh with under clock.

BTW an ebay seller has a good price on them

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Avalon-4-1-1TH-S-1000GH-S-570W-Quiet-hash256-ASIC-Bitcoin-Miner-OC1-3T-S-/321705940603?

I have 0 clue if the seller is legit.

The reason why they hike the prices is because they are a monopoly. They are the only manufacteurer currently selling and they can sell at any price they wish.

S5 is a really nice miner but loud and need some modification to be fully home miner.

I will buy every S5 for S5  Tongue

Wondering when the next gen come. Cant wait to see the spec  Grin

The S7 and the S4+ are coming...... I give it a week before they announce

1 week? Are you sure ? There is a long thread on the speculaton fo the S6 and still nothing.

They probably want to clear all there S5 remaining before publishing the S6

Would you like to put BTC on it?

April 1st by the latest for S4+ June 1 for S7 .. No S6 to be released .5BTC on it to anyone willing to accept the bet.

To be More Specific:

In about two weeks they will be releasing an upgraded version of the S4, called the S4+, which has the same size/design specs as the original S4 but uses the newer generation of chips, for a higher hashrate and better power efficiency. They will actually skip the S6 model number, and the new S7 model should be available in June or July of this year. Hope this helps.... Give me my Money Smiley

i heard about a s6, was just a vaporware i guess

there is also an entire thread talking about it

they need to lower the nm productivity process for the next device, for this reason i don't think 1 week is enough

I'd think it would follow Bitmains scheme.

s1 home miner
s2 industrial s1
s3 home miner upgraded
s4 industrial s3
s5 home miner upgraded
s6?
probably industrial s5

I do not think any miner can be profitable with the constant low price of bitcoin.
Even doing altcoins will not solve anything because you allways have to covert them to btc (trading costs which are extra losses)
For me the time has come to stop mining at all, energy prices are way too high in the netherlands (0.29 euro cent kWh)without company prices.
And ofcourse the import costs which are 21% taxes + import duties, so for me its no use to get any hardware.
I do not have time to trade or hashle with trade bots, so end of story pretty soon for me.

It seems to be a little different on coupons then it was.   It could not be to many batches ago they gave them out like candy.   It's been a while since Ive seen much about coupons on current batches.

I think the people who paid more on this batch got coupons, but since they did pay a higher price to get them they will chances are want paid for their coupons.

yes and most likely no one will want to pay much.  50 cents on the dollar is pretty much quite a bit.  Some one mentioned that wanted that on a 54 dollar coupon.  They had turned down a 0.1 btc offer  which was around 27 bucks at the time

I told them it was more then I would pay.  I was willing to pay 20> I also told them they would be wise to take the 0.1 btc offered to them.

The s-5 is getting long in the tooth. Margins are freakin tight.  I do understand that they feel screwed by bitmaintech.

I am getting tired of playing the game myself.

As far as buying if we know the coupon date it expires the better chance of getting a better deal.   Until it gets close to ending on coupons a lot will want more then most will pay chances are.

current coupon holders are probably using them since i did not even get a response to my offer

Anyone have any coupons left?

Although we'll probably be seeing them flood the forum and ebay for cheap prices and not have to worry about customs/shipping form out of the country.

just let them play out. not worth chasing them right now.  question what is your th up to?

Yes Bitmain was the first ASIC Manufacture to start to ship EALIER than promised and continue to do so!

I wonder if the first batch of #5 will start shipping this coming week? Bitmain has made it clear when he posts he mentions that he usually ships prior to their "shipping date". I wonder if that was a ruse for a good sales pitch or has some truth in it? I guess we will see. It would be nice to get a surprise at the door this week.

The reason why they hike the prices is because they are a monopoly. They are the only manufacteurer currently selling and they can sell at any price they wish.

$320 or $420, is still overpriced with the shipping and custom fees.

If you are paying VAT and customs and shipping they will lose you money.

If you pay VAT I highly suggest looking into data centers to send it to without vat.

The $177 per miner is just the 50% deposit. You'll have to pay them another $177 per miner before they'll ship (in about three months), so to compensate you for the tremendous wait you get a whopping 4% discount.
At that point you'd hope for free shipping....

If you buy the bulk batch it comes to 177 per miner. I wonder how much shipping is...

Dunno about you, but I'm not planning to invest in 1600 Antminer S5's at this particular moment.  Cheesy

A massive group buy? 1600 users, 1600 units Cheesy actually that's a job for lee's miners. But delivery isn't slated till June

That is a heck of a price.  But also a long time in the world of asics.

Anyone notice the huge drop in their pricing over the past 3 days?

They went from averaging $600+ to around $450 now. I even saw some go for less than that.

Any clue as to why?
