Yes it's really truly happen in the majority of the ICO and IEO projects. This is one of the big reason for most of the projects did not get fund to reach success. Without real and effective products how investors will be interest to put their money and very difficult thing is without products we are unable to find out good one.

as you say. very difficult to detect ICO with a good future. some good ICOs don't even appear in the media. then, how to detect ICO scam. ? You should choose a good ICO for the future. if it's just an ICO scam, that's a lot. but the best ICO is very difficult. as I experienced, is KLAYTN ... I have never seen this, but they appear only with airdrops and it turns out they are a big project from the Korean Kakaotalk company. there is currently no guarantee that ICO or IEO has a good future.
ICOs are past. They don't exist anymore or you can say that good ICOs are no more available. It was before the pump of 2017 that ICOs really worked because then projects at that time were not scams. The biggest problem with today’s market is scams. Otherwise, people would have still trusted such stuff. According to one survey, almost eighty percent of the market is just frauds and failures.

Yes, they are actually dead anymore so let's not think about them anymore as they are just part of our history and our failures and experience to them should be just a lesson to learned for our present and future, ICO's was really an easy way to earn income but it was also the quickest way for the scammers to scam people, they took this as their own advantage too.

If that is the case then spare yourself the stress and quit investing in ICO projects, IEO is a better option if you want you can join huobi and binance launch projects or even gate .io because they always bring good profits
True, if IEO is launched through exchange binance, huobi and gate.io, most of it is good, so it always has the potential for profit if someone is able to invest in it, because I personally also like the three exchanges.

To avoid such things, just don't invest or even look at ICO projects. They all are shit. I feel wonder why people are coming with ICO projects without any products or even a good idea when everyone knows about their scam behavior. To be in a safe zone and to not lose money, don't invest in ICOs, invest in coins or in IEO.

Good. I hope more people think like you, because ICO projects truly are shit. Yes, there is always the super rare exception, but you know what? I would rather miss out on a good one than get stuck in 100 shitty ones. Besides I already have Bitcoin, what could be better than that in my short lifetime right?

Unfortunately, most people will always let greed guide them. So the ICO market will always go on.

I have seen lots of scam projects and I guess we need to be more careful to be able to avoid being scammed. There are still indicator on how we can identify scam projects but still we need to we should do more research because they are really aggressive on what they do.

There are a lot of Icos ongoing without specific products. I still believe many of them are going to give us a huge adoption in this space. But the problem is many Icos are planning to get investments by providing nothing with a solid scamming exit plan. You won't be able to trace them by reading their WP, Team, activities even company formation. Recently I saw an ICO, they were genuinely working to do something but later they ran away with a bit of raised money. They closed their website, TG group and everything.
Can anyone suggest to me how to choose the scam icos ?

IEO is here to fix ICO problems, all you have to do is stay with top exchanges with good volume and liquidity, though its been a while since have seen new IEO projects from binance and huobi, just be on watch is all or add binance group on your telegram to stay informed

Are you saying that ICOs are full of stressful results while IEOs are not? If your answer is yes, then I don't think you are clearly updated about events in the IEO market. If you really want to avoid useless stressful situations then you should quit investing in both ICO and IEO. These two investment opportunities are not anymore the kind of opportunity that it was in the past. Right now, the results are more of negative rather than the positive. The return of investment is not coming from most of the projects that offer IEO and ICO.

1:100 in choosing legitimate and real ICOs at the moment, scammers these days are getting neater in looking for the next victims, even projects like crowdfunding IEO can also be said as professional fraudsters. ICO is currently entirely just a game, besides fraud, manipulation, there are also projects that fail and leave bringing in investor money. investing in full ICO is no different from gambling, so besides proper analysis and research, your luck also matters, now is no longer the season. I think investing in the Top 20 in CMC is the same and that also has less risk.

Wait, what? Are you planning to join the scammed ones? Don't you mean like how to indentify a scam ICOs? I Think that's more like it. Even with reading the whitepaper and everything else they've provided for you, you can't really tell if one will be a scammed one until it happens, I guess. If you're really afraid of getting scammed, it's better not joining any of them. Since ICOs ain't doing so well in the past few years.

In every sector there must be fraudsters, scamming people. In my opinion, it is not important how to identify scam ico as long as we have no intention to invest. The easiest thing I do is stop from ico, ieo and the like. What I believe is buying when they enter the exchange. Because there their real prices are visible. In addition, by entering into the exchange, of course, it will not cost a small amount of money and this may be a form of the seriousness of the development team in terms of their projects even though they do not guarantee them in the future. The rest are still many other factors.

Something is wrong with the questions? Are you implying that we tell you all the scam ICO's so you could avoid them?
It will be hard work.
What you really need is to be careful from now on since you already experienced it.
What did you miss which made you invest in a scam project? There must be something off with them.
This kind of tricks have some bad sides and you must see them before you even invest with them.

Projects that have no clear vision need to be avoid at all cost, they can easily exit scam anytime, good projects that are here to stay are always 100% opened to the public, they always have good roadmaps and they follow the roadmap diligently

I think for now there is no way that can be done to detect scammers, scammers always have a good way to attract investors to invest in the project, maybe all we can do is to minimize the risk of getting a scam project by comparing scam projects that we have had with projects that we will participate in, but this does not mean we can avoid scam projects. If you don't want to get a scam project, it's better to invest in the top coins.

ICO which is managed by a scammer and has been planned from the beginning will be very difficult to detect as an ICO scam.

They will only cheat and carry off investors' money for their own interests.

but as great as any ICO scammer will definitely get caught, because in this forum many are doing analysis to find out ICO scammers and stop it.

ICO is not popular and has been replaced with IEO, but IEO also seems to be a new den for smart scammers.
ICO sometimes use fake identity so it will harder for investors to caugh any one of them.
While IEO the new trend is making a noise but scammer also have a way to enter with the trend by using not so popular exchange to make thier IEO. Since many exchange want to also earn from IEO they make it without reviewing all the important things  about the project. Then failed to maintain the price after its listed.
An unpopular exchange does not implement IEO quality, if the project has money it can be registered easily. This is what makes the scammer easily enter the exchange. Many unpopular exchanges become a hotbed of IEO scam projects. But don't expect to get into binance even though you have a lot of money, but the project has no benefits and the goal is not clear, because binance is very selective.

Of course a new project will promise adoption or use cases but I think only a few will last in the long run. To find out about a scam project, I think it needs to be careful in doing research because the scam project now also pays attention to details

Dont pull down ICO cause its not trending now. Yes lots of ICOs have been in bad image before and IEO replace it as a new way of crowdfunding for their project but ICO has been adopt by IEO without the inception of ICO, those IEO people cannot be build. How about eth and neo which came both from ICO are they not worth investing?

that strategy is not working again right now and investors become even smarter to judge which is a scam ico. The product becomes one of the important indicator to determine is it worth to invest.
There was also a lot of the scam IEO.
You can see how so many crap IEOs these days. What we should do to not pegged with a platform but as a investors and we must become more smarter than before.
When you invest in IEO and that's also not bringing you to the safezone too. You can lose your money easily.
Look at some IEOs which were going to the zero value.
It's still possible these days.

ICOs solved the problem of funding for startups. But it quickly got abused  as anybody with an idea, a website and a telegram group can quickly raise millions of dollars based on empty promises. But it all came to an abrupt end in 2017–2018.  After that, we saw dozens of exit scam ICOs here and there abd today, over 90% of those ICOs are goners/no longer exist. In 2019, ICOs have moved to IEOs so the possibility of investing in a project without a product or a viable one is slim.

Scammers are getting smarter at fraud, investors should be more careful before deciding to invest in the ICO. Working product is not a guarantee, it could just be manipulation, as I have experienced with Ambit, it looks like they have built a mining tool but in fact until now there has been no official announcement regarding the listing of ambit tokens to exchange, almost two years have passed, admin is silent and slowly disappeared.
ICO is more easily manipulated, so it's better to join IEO held in a trusted global exchange, that's one of the best ways now. Trusted Exchange won't risk its good name by accepting bad projects for IEO, right?
As a precaution, you can see the Scam Accusations subforum if there are projects that are suspected to be even positive scams, so you can be more careful.

That normally happens in ICOs. You must stop and remove your interest with them, it's going to be a repetitive actions from these ICO companies that really don't have something to offer to the people. They are good in money collection and promising such activities that will hype the investors but in reality, there's no actual use case for whatever coin they are promoting.

And lately they have started unfulfilling promises and abandoning projects after much hope for investors and bounty hunters. The ICO scam is beginning to come back again as they went on break for some time now. I have read so many bounty hunters complaining of no distribution and fulfillment of promises.
They were never gone, as long as there are investors willing to commit themselves to these projects, these ico scams won't stop. But soon, if most of the investors stop investing on such projects and becomes focus on the existing projects, we will eventually see a dramatic decrease in the production of these icos. Each year there will be a new trend, this year was for IEO and still the same as ICO, what will be new one for 2020?

There's only one solution and this will spare all your heartache and headache, don't invest in ICO anymore, consider taking a vacation investing in ICO, and if you really want to invest, why not invest in the top coins in the market, investors have stopped investing in ICO you should too.
If we see today many ICO projects have turned into scams and many people are starting to complain about it and ask questions about how to avoid or find out whether the project is scam or not. Instead of thinking about it, it is better to invest in top coins than to avoid the risk of losing more money, you can also benefit from the investment you make if you can determine when the right point to sell and buy coins.

You should join the community, for me the scam icos and the legit ico can analyze by their community. I can really feel the hype and the professionality from a group of people that discuss about the ICO, if the ICO is scam, the group community might be so calm and quite and like nobody's there.

The same way IPO and any startup investment works. There's no guarantee that a project will become a huge success and that they didn't exit scam either. It's really hard nowadays to find a reliable project that can be trusted let alone a really successful project with promising futures.
There might be some good project out there or even undervalued project but we need to face the fact that we are overwhelmed with a project that merely created for grabbing people's money.

A common risk that must be accepted by investors when all ICOs do not experience a smooth and successful process is to wait for a refund, or must accept their attitude to escape with various sweet closing words such as "we are currently focusing on offline funding." Not all of them want to be labeled a scam project, but they don't guarantee anything if they fail. better to follow IEO first for now.

in my opinion this question has often arisen and until now there has also been no definite answer how to prevent us from entering into a scam project. we can only be careful and always scrutinize whitpaper, team work and road maps in earnest before joining the ICO project. but this also does not guarantee that the ICO that we follow is not a scam. in my opinion it's better to invest in the top coins than ICO investments. investing ICO now is very risky.

How to choose the scam ICOs? Do not choose them. Avoid them like the plague. It is very easy to spot a scam ICO nowadays. If you random on the ANN or bounty section of the altcoin board, you will most likely see a scam project. Majority of them are scams. It is not hard to look for scam projects but it is very hard to look for legit projects.

They are not going to give us a huge adoption. They are actually making adoption hard because people are already becoming doubtful about crypto projects because many of them or their friends are once victims of these scams. They will only make this space look dirty.

For starters ICOs are not as popular anymore as a method of raising funds for a project its IEOs now that have caught most of the markets attention and if you're wanting to avoid the scams simply focus on reputable launchpads that have good quality offerings like Bitfinex, OKex, Houbi, Binance and Kucoin

How to choose scam ICOs? I think the statement or question should be rephrase on how to pick legit ICOs

It's like youre concern is more on finding those scammers than looking for a legit ans working product. Any reason for this? If you want to catch them all, then the trick is do a vivid investigations and post it here in forum on Scam Accusation board. Likely many of investors and crypto enthusiast will be help by you.

You already says that majority of them are going to exit scam then why invest?

Maybe there could be good IEO's out there, you might want to try it out, if you wanted to invest with todays market condition. But then again you should DYOR first, because involving yourself with these IEO's.

I am surprised that some still consider investing in ICO in this era. If you cannot get it right now, you might not be able to get it again. Investors are careful with IEO, because that is what is trending, let alone investing in ICO. Also check project's product thoroughly, to know if it is genuine or not.

For the time being, all ICO projects are still unreliable, if you intend to invest, then my advice is better to invest in IEO. many popular exchanges are working with IEO projects such as Binance and others.

Still, there are IEO projects that fall to the scam category.
Others have said that take a break from investing on these projects, whether IEO or ICO.
I believe that is a smart decision to avoid further losing money from these unreliable projects.
Only with those solid foundations and own funding can withstand the competition.
And I think that is better scenario in crypto, rather than countless projects which are mostly empty.

Recently I saw an ICO, they were genuinely working to do something but later they ran away with a bit of raised money. They closed their website, TG group and everything.
Can anyone suggest to me how to choose the scam icos ?

There are perhaps hundreds of topics in the forum about it. But you can not find a thought to explain how a scam project can be recognized in any of them, because it is very difficult. To recognize the scam project you need to know good projects. Actually, there is no thought to define good project too. But, after you can discriminate the good ones, you will be able to recognize the scam ones. Each of these is an experience acquired identification system, which is the only way to survive.

Many ICO will continue to scam people, their major aim is to scam the people and that is all. I know of an exchange that keeps conducting an IEO and sometimes pump hell off the coin and will later dump before conducting the next IEO, anyone who is lucky just make money. I see some ICO/IEO as a form of technical Ponzi.

You want to choose scam ico's?  Why would you want to do that?

Like seriously, ICOs? I thought they are dead and gone as I have not come across any for months now.
If they're not, they should be.  If Op wants to pick which ico's are scams, just make up a big list of them and throw a dart at it.  Guaranteed the dart will land on a scam one.  It sounds like people are starting to get smart and aren't falling for these things anymore, and that's good.  Any time someone invested in a scam ico, it emboldened the scammer and perpetuated the whole cycle of creating a new ico, recruiting bounty hunters to advertise it, and running away with the money in the end.  Good riddance.

I can't believe that there still quite small of a population for people believing in ICOs. They might be the ones that are either hoping for its resurrection or they're pretty much new to these projects.
And they're the true suckers if they think any of that.  Hopefully now that the ico market is dead or at least dying, it will clear the way for legitimate uses of the Eth blockchain and similar platforms like Neo.

You never know what is legit what is scam, people only make speculation base on their research., and you need do that too. Research not only from whitepaper but from situation from icos itself. If now icos mostly fail then don't invest for safer choice.

In my experience, right now is much better to invest in solid projects, already listed. Some of them have working product, but not enough customers to significantly affect tokens price. And such projects can be crazily undervalued, comparing to big ones, listed on top exchanges.
Try to find projects with less than 1mil mcap, they should  have a working product and actively trying to find customers. Better if they already have a few. To make sure they won’t run out of funds, check their ICO adress and try to ask them for their financial info, if they’ve sold collected funds for usd.
I can’t say there are a lot of such projects, but you’ll definitely find 2-3 good ones and that will be enough. My personal expectation is that those will bring a fortune, either during next bull run, or if they’ll succeed in their customers acquisition.
It’s a risky investment for sure, but much less risky, than investing in ICOs with 10mil+ mcap, which have nothing but an idea or hype behind it.

There is no how to guide of how to avoid scammers. Even good looking projects can turn out to be trash, but a it is enough to look into whitepaper of a project that aims to collect 5 million USD and if this WP consists of 5 pages, you can skip this project.
Now there are no such projects where you can find a white pager of 5 pages. scammers are now creating the truest story. all whitepapers are now done with high quality

You knew all these about ICOs and yet went further to invest in them; sorry about what happened to you but I hope you learnt the hard lesson which is, ICOs are more fraudulent. It is very difficult nowadays to finds any genuine ICO because they hardly have any tangible thing to offer or any genuine products they are already working on, it is always " we are working to offer this type of service" but there is no proof that they have started anything at all, and once they get the required funds they exit scam. Stop giving ear to them and save yourself from headaches and heartaches.

There's only one solution and this will spare all your heartache and headache, don't invest in ICO anymore, consider taking a vacation investing in ICO, and if you really want to invest, why not invest in the top coins in the market, investors have stopped investing in ICO you should too.

I can't believe that there still quite small of a population for people believing in ICOs. They might be the ones that are either hoping for its resurrection or they're pretty much new to these projects. I remember that someone posted a statistics on the slow disappearance/failures of ICO projects last year and it just talked to me to also stop thinking about these projects anymore.

There are many fake projects on the market. It takes investment in fake projects. How do we determine whether a project is good or bad? Does that mean it's good that he makes us money? We are in a very cruel market.

This is the same way thousand other ICO scammed their investors, they just make the investors convince that they are working hard to come up with a product and then they will plan the exit when they are able to earn the maximum benefit with their planned scams, i cannot find many projects that survived for a very long time and i used to trust the market in the beginning but then when the momentum shifted when they were not able to deliver in time i knew all these project developers are in for the easy money and majority of them made and moved on with their life and the real looser is the investor.

Currently, investing in ICOs is a huge risky situation. The vast majority of ICOs are either turned into scams or canceled because its did not raise enough funds. And i think this will continue as long as there is no positive movement in altcoin prices. Therefore, it is a safer and more logical way to invest in top subcoins instead of taking any such risk at this stage.
Indeed, most of them are made to deceive people and take advantage on them that is the reason why many of us are still doubt to invest in ICO's and it's not our fault to feel that way because many of us have experienced it. I don't underestimate their capabilities but we can't change the fact that the reputation of ICO's are ruined because of scam issues. It should be the reason why we have to be cautious particularly these days because some of us is can easily deceive by their words and we tend to believe in them without making sure.

How to choose ICO scam? I don't think it needs to be chosen because all ICOs are a scam for now, there are lots of fake projects out there, because you know you can create your own ICO project for only $50
Go to Fiverr.com and search for ICO

Most of the ICO is a scam without any real products they will scam the investors by listing in the ICO listing in the websites. The will invest very low amounts into the project and started stealing higher amounts through the ICO listing with fake ranks.

For sure at this moment people are already aware now about this thing, that even ICO listings are scam, that they are doing something for their own benefit and not to help crypt investors, everything nowadays is about the money, so I really don't know if we can still trust ICO nowadays or better to say, ICO already ended as well as IEO, due to the fact that investors are not really benefiting on it.

because there are so many ico's that come out every day and 80% of them are scams.
it's better to invest in existing coins and have a real project, than you gamble with ico coins.

Like seriously, ICOs? I thought they are dead and gone as I have not come across any for months now. But on a more serious note, after all the fraudulent activities they are known for i thought we would be wise by not giving attention to any of them again. Nevertheless, to be on the safer side, stop investing in so called ICO because they are easy to exit scam or come up with many reasons not to list, just focus on good coins out there like Bitcoin or if you have an urge of investing in upcoming projects then IEOs is better off, although issues still exists.

I must agree on this. ICO these couple of months of are full of crap. You cannot literally see it or obviously suspect that the ICO will run after funding a money on which many had complaint too. You' be rather consider of taking a rest with ICO investment since the market has many scam ICOs. No lose, no gain! But you really insist that you want to invest why not on stocks? want something more volatile ? why not long hold bitcoin? ethereum? This is what we got now after overhyping the market since late 2017, legit projects are outnumbered by scam ones.

yeah, ICOs and IEOs recently are less popular recently, i guess this trend is getting down and very few people want to inves in a project without any real value or just a coin based on trust, moreover scammers are using ICO or IEOs to steal money from investors, the trend is end, we can choose another way to invest and stay away from these kind of new ICOs recently.

This is the result of greedy behavior. In 2017 and 2018 there were too many scams that caused that people are disappointed about ICO's behavior and no more interested in investing.

Any project can turn into a scam at any time so there is no way to find out the scammers that is the biggest risk of investing on a new crypto project. But you can make profits as well if you could find one but not in long term so decision is yours need profits with huge risk or better invest on existing legit cryptos.

It's getting really difficult to differentiate between a legtimate ICO and a fraudulent one. If you want to be safe, invest in the projects you personally know about or by visiting the project you are interested in. This may not be possible sometime so you could also seek suggestions from the experts who do so.
You can trust popular launchpad like binance to have some detailed research before listing an IEO.

Its hard to be choose the legit ICO nowaday, but at least we can reduce the chance to get scammed on ICOs. So far if I will join an ICO or to be their promotor, I always looking in to their website profile. Domain and the age of that web is important, and then the team's linkedin profile can help us how seriously they are.
I think that is basic knowledge to identify an ICO, you can use your knowledge as well to make sure the quality of ICLs.

The only way to escape ICO scams is not to invest on them anymore, binance can do the work for you, they screen new projects that wants to get launched on their exchange and all IEO on binance are successful, if you want to make profit binance IEO is the right path
But he also needs big funds or investment to join Binance's IEO,
And there is a risk to the IEO, as the price may drop as ICO does. So the best he can do is to have the knowledge and self-analysis of the IEO/ICO he wants to join.

Sometimes it’s impossible to do this, since everyone exposes to potential investors so it’s impossible to determine, just the main thing is to adhere to one rule, it’s never throwing your entire deposit into one project, as it may turn out to be fraudulent and you will lose all your money, and If you distribute your deposit between several projects, you can cover losses from some projects and make a profit with one project that will earn extra profit.

This below is just a nice suggestion to start being safe in this whole scam issue. I have also invested in ICO while just joining this forum with high hopes of making it big with my investment but now, the project closed up and blocked every means. Don't investing in ICO, just wait for the listing if you like the project or you research with cmc like top 20 coins.

This is true, most of projects are exit scam and every day various projects launched and after that closed due to their nonserious attitude about projects, So when you check the project then you need to check all social media communities, Bitcointalk ANN thread is growing or dead and other ICO ranking sites.

You should only invest in projects that can't easily scam people even if they are scammers.
That is the kind of crowdfunding method we should be working on in Crypto space. A project has to very transparent, qualified, accountable, decentralized etc before getting funded. If this is done, the number of projects going for ICO will shrink greatly. After funding, funds should be secured by multiple people for gradual releases to developers. This whole thing could be done on DAO kind of platforms with lots of participants plus strong self-regulatory mechanism.

Hoping to see ICO dead is like hoping to see crypto space dead. It likely will never happen any time soon. If you give it a bad name people will probably avoid using the word ICO and still get funded. By the way, the less active ICO market is a general reflection of cryptocurrency market.
Sentiments do not matter much to me. What matters is the truth.

It's way better actually than investing in ico's. ICO's are dead, there will be no profit we can earn from it anymore. Move forward, try to move on and do another thing that will give you an opportunity to earn. It is actually right that investing in top altcoins can be a good start to stay away from investing, it's a good way to earn a decent profit.

There's only one solution and this will spare all your heartache and headache, don't invest in ICO anymore, consider taking a vacation investing in ICO, and if you really want to invest, why not invest in the top coins in the market, investors have stopped investing in ICO you should too.
