As a precaution you can also backup the wallet file via file > save copy.

Also you don't have to uninstall and reinstall. Just install the new version and it'll upgrade you.

I have noticed my electrum wallet is version 3.2.3 while the latest version is 3.2.4.
Latest version is 3.3.4... you should download it from here: https://electrum.org/#download

Will uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version affect my wallet  Huh i am worried loading a new version will wipe the slate clean.
Uninstalling Electrum will not remove your wallet. It won't "wipe the slate clean"... and in any case, you can easily recreate the wallet from your 12 word seed mnemonic. So, prior to upgrading, ensure you have your 12 word seed mnemonic safely written down. You can use the "Wallet -> Seed" menu option in the wallet to display your seed again if you don't have it written down already.

At the moment my wallet still hasn't picked up the transaction, will updating to the new version fix this?
Yes, the old version is the reason you cannot see your transaction. As stated on the Electrum website:
Warning: Electrum versions older than 3.3 can no longer connect to public servers, and must be upgraded. This is in order to prevent user exposure to phishing messages. Do not download Electrum from any another source than electrum.org.

Updating to the newest version will resolve your issue.

I fear already sending the bitcoins to an old version has made me lose those coins...
You have not lost your coins, they are recorded on the blockchain... so if you upgrade, you will see your transaction once the wallet is able to connect to the servers and sync properly. Smiley

The latest version is 3.3.4. Make sure you are using that version.
You will never loose your bitcoins as long as you have the 12 word seed.

It shouldn’t.

And even if it did, and you end up losing your wallet file, you SHOULD have your backup seed written somewhere. That’s what will guarantee access to your coins if anything happens.

What color orb are you seeing in the bottom right? does it show a balance in the bottom left? Is the address you gave localbitcoins in your electrum? Here's how you can check that.

Looking for campaign manager? Contact icopress!
If you use Electrum, you should make sure you have the latest version and it's downloaded from electrum.org
Make sure it's the right Electrum because there are a lot of fakes lately.

Since you didn't tell which is your recipient address, please check from a block explorer (tradeblock?) that the target address has the expected coins in it.

Hi, last night i transferred some bitcoins from localbitcoins to my wallet. localbitcoins have confirmed the money is in my wallet, yet the transaction won't show in my history on Electrum and the wallet is empty. The transaction was confirmed at 23:11pm GMT, it is now 13:32pm GMT and still nothing, i am starting to get quite concerned.
I have contacted localbitcoins and they advised trying here. I have confirmed the address i sent to coins to matched that of my wallet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated  Grin Grin
