Hi Guys...why do some people go for PDU's (which are expensive) compared to receptacles for each machine? Thanks.

Along with what others have said, it's also a safety measure.

My PDUs only allow up to 12amp per outlet, 24a across the whole unit.  If one of the miners goes berserk and melts down, it'll trip a 12amp breaker a lot quicker than it will a 30amp breaker.  And hopefully not melt all sorts of stuff in the process.

When I went up to running 4 Avalons on a 240 volt circuit, I went with a PDU off ebay ( bought 2 for the next expansion). I liked the idea of only needing 1 receptacle as the price of additional ones adds up as well as the extra wire required.
I searched eBay for 1 night asked a few questions and got 2 units for under 100 USD shipped.
I almost didn't go this route because I looked for new PDUS and that was a mistake, for me anyways.

I prefer PDUs since I can run 4 machines on one plug/breaker.  So if you were running 50 machines- you would need a huge breaker box to house 100 breaker spots vs 13 plugs and 26 spots. This is on 240v machines. Not to mention, having to wire up 50 boxes vs 13.
