After reading the thread i´m opening an account on Bitrex and try it out. Fortunately i haven´t had any major issues with polo but BTC withdrawal confirmation times are enormous. Right now i´m waiting for 8 hours and counting. If i was trying any kind of arbitrage, or had any deal going on i would be screwed...

I am using bittrex without any problems.
I also used cryptopia couple of times also without any problems and daily withrawal maximum is higher.
I was using poloniex but lately i hear they have too much issues so i am avoiding them.

I'd recommend bittrex as a good exchange platform to use, actually i like poloniex but i do not want to use it again after i get a serious problem and very long problem there, i will use poloniex if there's no problem anymore. It's better to use bittrex because bittrex is highly recommended.
since OP only play or trade with crypto i also agree that bittrex can suit for what he is looking as of this moment polo have some issue and its
been a topic here inside the forum better to use this platform as an alternatives volume and numbers of players are also good inside trex so
you can consider it OP.

I'm also moving to Bittrex, Polo lately has been a pain in the butt. Many issues, complains are going here in the forum regarding their trading platform. We are talking thousand of dollars here and they should put up a good support. But the problem is that we are good getting any proper support for their customers and I'm assuming they are profiting big now because the numbers of traders have grown exponentially. They should at least have good communication with their clients because most of the support tickets are still unanswered. So I decided to go to Bittrex and I will also suggest that to the OP.

i recommend everybody to search for real FOREX companies who accept BTC.

This is one of them but you can surely find others too:

http://www.avatrade.com/trading-info/range-of-markets/cryptocurrencies/bitcoin

you will NEVER have any problems with deposits, withdrawals or other orders execution, shits that happen very often with exchangers.

you will never have reasons to complain. i see tons of complaints (indeed, the most of them for unlicensed exchangers like Kraken, BTC-e, Bitfinex, Poloniex, etc) and I wondering why these people are not looking "sonewhere" to make the "business". example: real forex companies who accept BTC. Smiley    it's so simple.

There isn't any at the moment. All of them are having problems. If someone ever says to you "exchange A is great and nobody ever had any problems", he is lying.

Polo: Many withdrawal problems. Locked currencies, wallets...
Cex.io: Is in trouble with the FEDs
Btc-e: same
Kraken: same
Finex: Ticking bomb
Coinbase: Joking right?

It is time for us to push for decentralized exchanges. Oldschool exchanges has little time left.

What about Bitstamp? It offers not much currencies, only 3 and only BTC among requested by author, but anyway..

BitStamp doesnt offer Leverage trading. Its the only exchange who hasnt faced any problem other than its hack some years ago.

Thank you for notice, but leverage is too much for a noob like me Smiley
I've just started and was looking for more or less reliable exchange. I guess there's no problem of transferring some amount of BTC between different exchange wallets?

No problem in that. i would recommend Bitstamp..

I just got screwed by Kraken.  I shorted bitcoin, then entered a BUY/Stop Loss and it hit but did not fill.  the stop loss was ignored.  they offered me some KFEE ($50) nonsense as an apology but this is bullshit.  How the hell can I trade if it doesn't work.

Can someone recommend a good trading platform that lets me short BTC and ETH, and maybe DASH?

Thanks.

What the difference between decentralized exchanges and common exchanges?
Is there any decentralized exchanges out there? Ready to use its services?

Where do you live Op? Have you tried bittrex before? Well, do not, it has some problems regarding customer accounts security.
Try a local exchange, whether it is bitstamp, coinone, bitflyer or something like that, there are some local bitcoiners in your country that should be mentioned/share about the same exchanges.

There are many exchange site platform where you can use it as well, but majority of them are untrusted too, even Poloniex is very well known exchange platform still have  leak problem in terms of withdrawal transaction, so the exchange for me which is really good was bittrex platform.

whaleclub (https://trade.whaleclub.co/signin) wasn't bad.  but execute a leveraged trade on ETH and the spread (2.2% for ETH) is x5 too so its like an immediate 10% loss just to open a position.  stupid.

there has to be something thats decent? no?
