I think it is necessary to be careful about market, 3 years is too long for crypto - you should consider the need for correct your portfolio.
the right way to benefit from crypto, in 5 years you can be a millionaires. but are you not interested in Ripple, Zcash, and also MKR? I suggest that you include them on your investment list.

Would certainly split 50% between BTC and ETH. More into bitcoin due to ETH scaling issue that has yet to be properly addressed.

I think you choose a good one for your fortofolio. It does not matter about the percentage of each coin you will buy but choose the good coin is more important.
I think your portfolio looks good for a fairly steady growth, nothing majorly risky (Bar Verge) but that's just because I can't see why its worth what it is now, I bought mass for like 0.002 7 months ago and now its 100x that because of Mcaffee.

It's a useful chart for a long-term holding as you mentioned for 3-5 years. If I would have to invest 20000 USD, then I would add Cardano and Stellar Lumens in my portfolio including Tronix.

Buy Ethereum. IN the next 5 years, people will find that bitcoin can not provide what they want and what they need and they will betray bitcoin. 21 million coins are not enough for 7 billion people around the world. Try to add deep union on your portofolio. Buy some deep onion then register for airdrop. You could get more coin from airdrop if you hold deep union. Vertcoin also looked good at the moment and probably for next 2-3 years. Vertcoin is pioneer for lyra2 and it is asic proove
The suggestions sounds good, however I would be careful in choosing these rather small projects and especially ICOs for the long term portfolio, as there is no guarantee that they will survive these 5 years. It also depends on what you are going to do. I mean, if you are going to keep an eye on it, or you are looking for something to buy, leave and check in few years to see millions. I would also suggest you checking out Lisk maybe. It is great for sure for the short term, as the profits are very probable, however they may keep on raising in the future as well.
I would probably go NEO over LTC, but your mileage may vary.

Choosing Top 10 coins would not give you such benefit. This is a very basic portfolio as if you have some money to invest and choose Top 10 stocks in Nasdaq. If i were you, i would diversify:

Medium Market Cap
Low Market Cap
Risky Level(like $1000 for about 10 coins)

It seems you do not have Bitcoin Cash. That one has very low transaction fees.

I agree with this. Blockchain platforms / Blockchain as a service will be huge.
Stratis, Neblio, Waves, Nem and Ardor are all worth investing in, besides the obvious players like Ethereum and Neo.
I think this will underperform BTC and whatever you get out of the forks. Let's check back in a few years and see if I was right

The portfolio looks good, investing in Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin is good and as followmenot suggests i would also recommend monero and zcash.

THis is so newbie. You should look disturbent projects like NEO REQ, RPX, CHANGEBANK. Low caps. Those you mentioned besides ETH and BTC have already high Marketcap

Agreed. Everyone has favourites, but I would definitely have Monero and NEO in the mix, along with some utility coins (Golem) and alternate blockchains (stratis, cardano/ada).

Looks good! I am also sceptical about Verge and IOTA. You should consider the most tech potential coins. Therefore OMG, WAVES and QTUM are the ones you should take a look. Anyway, good luck!
I think it looks good but I'm kind of biased against Ripple and Verge as well as IOTA. I think that $1600 from XVG and XRP would be better is some higher risk/ lower market cap. You would have more potential to hit a grand slam than a single. Something like NEBL or WTC. Ultimately you should invest in what you think has the best tech the most promise. Good Luck!
