I would not wait for the drive recovery to get started. Depending on your internet connection and computer equipment Bitcoin Core can take several days to sync. The blockchain has grown very large since you were involved. Make sure you have ample free space, some 350 gigs as of now and growing every 10 minutes. An SSD is ideal and plenty of free RAM helps also.
I recommend you get that part prepared and running now. I thought I had a good copy of the blockchain but discovered that it had become pruned somehow, I have been downloading for 2 days now with another day to go and I have pretty good internet.

Thank you, I really appreciate the guidance. I don't think I ever made a paper wallet is one if my problems. I was a bit of a fool and got jnto bitcoin because it was interesting at the time but also to donate to podcasters and researchers I was following. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out. I'll get setup soon once I get the data off that drive.
Ideally, you should have your Armory "Root Key" paper backup somewhere... this would allow you to easily restore your wallet in a new installation.
Theoretically you could simply copy the .wallet file over to the new install, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other option for recovery.

So this is an inquiry from a Bitcoin noob of sorts. I have an Armory wallet on an old hard drive that I'm going to recover pretty soon and I was wondering if someone could give me a link or a little heads up on what I need to do to set this up in a new Armory wallet. I really don't even remember how Armory works it's been years since I did anything with Bitcoin and like I said I am probably the quintessential Bitcoin noob although I know a little bit about it. So if anyone had a link or like a fast little cell toriel that could link to me or maybe just give me a heads up whether I'm completely confused that would be great. So I think we need to do is download Armory on my new computer recover the files off the old hard drive obviously Port whatever files are in that into the new Armoty build, update, then do the blockchain then login with my dual key encryption? That first public key is on my old wallet fies, yes? I current only have a password or provate key on hand so hopefully I am understanding this correctly. Is that sound about right or do I need some serious help? Any and all help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated thank you.
