Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. Definitely can appreciate your skepticism given the age of my claimed account.

Not looking to convince anyone of anything here. I am specifically inquiring as to whether anyone can help me contact Theymos, who I sent previous passwords to over the weekend. The domain of the email of the account no longer exists, but I may have registered an account named something similar around the same era or with a "2" at the end but didn't post on, and I have access to the email for that one.

I can also provide the ISP, geography, and maybe an IP address that logged into SourceForge.

If anyone can connect me to someone who may help me authenticate my identity, it would be much appreciated. It needs to be a mod or dev from that era, particularly if they have access to previous passwords, which I could provide them with in advance and they could check.

Thanks!

Your registration date is also from 2016. How come you didn't lose the password for one account, but lost it for another?
I guess OP has suddenly realized they were about to be caught in something untoward and "unholy", therefore has chickened out by deleting all their posts.

His antique account is way older than that.

He might have registered that "Welte" account in 2016 just to do this:
I think I tried to recover this once a long time ago, and the recovery rules may be based on my attempt.
(The "recovery rules" was posted in 2018, his attempt may be from 2016 after "Welte account" was registered)

If this claim is true, the account was from 2010 or earlier:
No, it has not been active recently. It is from the SourceForge forum when it was moved over.

Why don't you show that account? If it has addresses that you could confirm, then there should be no problems with recovery. What do you think, why keep old passwords in the forum history?
In all other respects, your words are just the goal of unlocking the account, and we are not sure that it belongs to you.

Wow, that's not old mate… it’s antique… I’m sure now you need more than just “old passwords” to prove the ownership.

What if an old account was shared among trusted users with known passwords? but only the owner had email access?

Would love to know which antique account are we talking about?

Thanks for everyone's help.

I think I tried to recover this once a long time ago, and the recovery rules may be based on my attempt. If anyone can provide me with Theymos' contact details or if Theymos can be shown this thread, I would be very happy, but I think I did this once before. I emailed Theymos proof of my ownership of a very old account, if he can see previous passwords used in account creation from the original forum.

Thanks
Try your luck to send a private message theymos regarding this matter, only admin or mods will help you out with this account that you've said that you wanted to recover.  Follow the link that was given above and create a thread of account recovery with the right format given.

Just a few questions, is your hacked account still active right now?  If yes, then let us know because we can temporarily leave negative feedback so that the account will not use any activities here in the forum like joining the signature campaign.

If you've staked your Bitcoin address use it's very easy to recover your account.

Hi all,

Wondering the best way to recover an old username. I like my old account and am interested in having access to it again.

I can provide several previous passwords, but not the last password it was changed to. Please DM if you can connect me to anyone that can help.

Thanks!

I don't know the major reason for the recovery you wanted on your old account but i will advise if it's just because of the unique unsername that seems precious to you has been the reason why, then i will advise you to save yourself the stress and open another one that has a similar username as the old one, another reason why you may not need to do that again is if the account is still a newbie rank account whereby not much activities had been carried out by it, maybe it has been inactive for long and has not much activity records, so why the stress, except for if all these aren't part of your reasons then you're fine to go ahead with the recovery.

I will advice you to avoid scammers that will send you pm regarding this. Know that you will not be able to access you account if
you do not remember your password or can not access your email or unable to sign a message with your address posted by you on this forum like I said above already.

I could definitely recover the email, but another party bought the email provider so that I can't do that. Are there any old mods that could review previous passwords, if I can provide multiple previous passwords but not the latest one, and without access to the email?
Alternatively, did you signed a message with your bitcoin address or any other address before on this forum? Or any address you have used to participate in a signature campaign can also be used or any unedited post that you referred to you address can also be used. You can use that to prove the ownership of your account.

Move this to meta.

If you still have your email (that you used to register or linked to your Bitcointalk account), you can click on forgot password on the login page to reset your password.

Note: an email message would be sent to your email, click on the link provided to reset your password.
