Suggestion: You can get more than the value of the Bitcoin and other fork coins inside it when you sell it on forum collectible section(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0).
Too late! OP already peeled the coin and swept the private key into a new wallet.
In case he didn't claim the forked coins, I found this tool that may help him know which coins are redeemable and how much he will get from them:
https://findmycoins.ninja/
Note: the tool only support addresses with less than 20 transactions which shouldn't be a problem for Casascius addresses.

omit the script type prefix and it'll work. mini private keys were all p2pkh anyway.

I'm trying to redeem a 9 year old Casascius bitcoin using Electrum 4.1.5 and the wallet menu only has sweep as an option. When I try to use p2pkh:PRIVATE KEY syntax, the sweep button does not enable to click sweep. Most documentation from previous versions of Electrum had an option to import private keys and later to sweep...

Is the p2pkh:PRIVATE Key entered in just string like - phpkh:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
OR
phpkh:
XXXXX
XXXXXX
XXXXXX
XXXXX

Newbie here, any help would be grateful
thanks

Suggestion: You can get more than the value of the Bitcoin and other fork coins inside it when you sell it on forum collectible section(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0). The premium of the coin will be waste once you peel it. Just use escrow for your transaction to make it safe for you. Just trying to save your casascius coin but if you are already decided to peel it, Follow the advice above my post. PM me if you are willing to sell the peeled coin.  Wink

You cannot import a privKey to a wallet with a seed, you'll need to create a new wallet and select "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys"
and then paste the mini private key (starts with 'S") there without the script type prefix.

Here's the steps:
  • If you have an existing wallet, go to menu "File->New/Restore".
  • Type a wallet name, and click "next".
  • Select "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys", click next, paste the mini private key (do not add "p2pkh:").
  • Then finish the rest of the setup.

Make sure that you're using the legit "Electrum".
Download only from electrum.org and take your time to verify its signature.
