It's against the rule of the forum and other than that many people use to refer other site some what like investing site e.t.c and many people got scam thats why its not allowed.
It's to control the amount of worthless spam posts made by people in signature campaigns who post vapid short answers or chunks of quoted text from press articles every five minutes to reach their payment quota, like this user here https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/wintermeasures-552855

Referral links are against the rules of the forum as if they weren't it would encourage spam of people posting them for an attempt at a quick buck.
If a post is constructive enough, I believe that affiliate links are allowed (however the post must contribute significantly).
