Exactly, why lead a life depending on favors done by a third person and lose your dignity when you are completely capable of earning double than what you are being paid. Its a beautiful country, there are so many opportunities for locals to earn money especially because the constant change in their market crowd. New customers show up everyday, it is not 'impossible' to pay back the debts. More importantly, it is necessary to be completely independent.

Reform in Greece is for the good of Europe. This is true. But the reform must be made and must be made from the Greeks. The question is. Do they to do this? Are they able to do this? All the story of Greece testify the contrary. This is not the first default of Greece. There are 5 years that they haven't do nothing. There are other four times in their recent story that Greece was in similar conditions. And here we are with the five. I doubt that they will be able to do the right things. I saw the results of their referendum. What meaning have to not give the money that you have taken from the others to the proprietary? What can be waited from a such people?

I see only that this proud nation has taken money with four hands during to many times without thinking that the money doesn't increased at the trees without doing nothing. I see that this proud nation has voted more than 60% to not give the money given generously from the others to them in order that they have more high salaries without working in the same quantity. I see that this proud nation hate and insult as a nazist German government which pretend that the money given must be returned because are money of the German people and that German people has worked hard to create those. I see that this proud nation continue to do the "bella vita" going to the beaches even their complain that don't have money. I see to many other things to this proud nation that don't understand and don't accept.

But I don't see in which way their will grow someday to understand that being children doesn't last always.

Is the austerity really senseless? Who should be responsible for paying back Greece's debt? The Government - definitely. Who owns the Government - the People! The People could be charged higher taxes or benefits could be reduced or a mix of both could happen so everyone play a part in getting Greece back on track.

What would you propose as an alternative? That the debt just be forgotten about? That the government continue to spend and promise huge benefits without having the stones to collect on taxes? That the people refuse to pay taxes?

Your "comments have rather puzzled me"...but I'd love to talk about it.

Judging by the flood of comments that followed the recent European summit on Greece, a modern Greek drama is unfolding in which a small but proud nation, the motherland of democracy, is being subjected to senseless austerity by cold-hearted bureaucrats and penny-pinching foreign politicians. These comments have rather puzzled me.

A few days ago, the German parliament gave its approval to negotiations on a new financial assistance package for Greece worth up to €86bn (£60bn). Germany’s share will be a bit more than a quarter, or the equivalent of roughly €500 per household. That is big money and it’s on top of the €215bn that Greece has already had under the first and second assistance packages in 2010 and 2012. Greece has received assistance equivalent to more than its entire annual GDP – which dwarfs, for example, the Marshall plan. All eurozone countries will contribute, despite some of them having per-capita incomes significantly below Greece’s. This is a broad act of European solidarity.
