World is becoming really crazy. I knew that long before, but never had the chance to talk about it here or maybe I just simply don't remember. I already told it and will keep saying it : refugees shouldn't be accepted, especially if treated with some nice advantages !

How can they afford to travel to Rio? Isn't Brazil concerned that they will overstay their visa?
How good are they? Top sportsmen need to practice everyday. Is crossing a country on foot appropriate training?

This is a big question. Many of these "refugees" are not qualified enough to compete in the games. And yet they are being given the opportunity to participate, thanks to the political considerations. This will dilute the quality of the games. And moreover, athletes who couldn't qualify through the normal route might be feeling miffed.

Team of 10 refugees, including Syrian swimmers and DRC judokas, to compete at this summer's Olympic Games in Brazil.

"These refugees have no home, no team, no flag, no national anthem. We will offer them a home in the Olympic Village together with all the athletes of the world," IOC President Thomas Bach said on Friday following an executive board meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.

So big of them, what is really being pushed with this refugee platform? It takes them forever to decide on adding a female equivalent sport to the men but this looks like something they fast tracked.
Read about this a well back and was kind of curious why they are doing this now!

Personally, I think this is good decision and in this way they showing very good example to others, specially European countries which didn't support refuges much.
After all, in sport there is no discrimination based on the race, sex, nationality, religion etc.
Everybody have the same chance to win, based on their skills, training etc.
It will be good if our politicians start to learn from sport.

If its to show a plight or cause, they should also have representation from every terrorist group and gorilla movement.
Some of them do not see themselves as terror groups and maybe we should be more open minded.

ISIS in track number 6 might make people run a little faster. Cheesy

a great way to gain sympathy from the countries participating in the Olympics rio jenerio possible if one of alit pengusi achievement they can get an offer to become a citizen of a particular country, we must respect their struggle to get a sympathy.

The intentions are good. But I am afraid that Olympics is not the right place. Athletes competing in the Olympics must represent a sovereign nation, rather than representing groups such as "refugees" and "immigrants". Refugees from Syria must participate under the Syrian flag. If they have too much issues with that, then please don't take part in the games.

Its kind of a stupid thing because of two issues that are connected to these olympics.
One is athletes fleeing their country during or after their event which is very common thing to occur.
Then you have people that represent a country they are not even a part of as a chance to medal.

WASHINGTON — At the Winter Olympics in Sochi this February, a German prince will represent Mexico. A South Korea native will represent Russia. And a Singapore-born, London-raised violinist will ski for Thailand.

Meet 2014's Olympic carpetbaggers — the latest in a long line of competitors who’ve sought glory under a foreign flag. Like other imported athletes before them, they’ve established only tenuous ties to their ostensible motherlands, and exist as awkward reminders that, even as the games embrace the rhetoric of national pride, opportunism knows no borders.

Every single sports event is getting politicized nowadays. First the Sochi (winter) olympics was demonized by the Western media. After that, Sepp Blatter was kicked out of FIFA by the US-UK lobby. Now all the drama associated with the Rio Olympics. Russian athletes are not being allowed to compete, while "refugees" are given special preference.
