Too bad for all the people who invested in ether.  Such are the risks with open source.

The Counterparty team is crushing it - proof of burn at the outset, so tough to complain about the distribution of XCP, the Overstock thing and now this.  Well done, sirs.
true, all too much. and it is difficult to distinguish or determine which ones are really good and last for a long-term or are destroyed in a short time

It shows that you can't afford to sit on your laurels and try to profiteer from it. Open source leads to true innovation.

This is exactly why I think alt coins are good for bitcoin. These innovative ideas can at any point be adapted to work with or even imported into the bitcoin protocol. I don't know enough to comment on the technical side of this, but the idea behind ethereum is quite good.

Totally agree. While most new coins are purely scams or shady, some get released that could potentially be added to the Bitcoin protocol, or add tot he value of Bitcoin and its future market, such as decentralized marketplaces like BitBay.

in bitcoin 9.0, 1 bitcoin = 9 bitcoin, 1 on each fork.

ohh and that was a terribly boring presentation.

1 Bitcoin > 1 Bitcoin!

Wesley, set a course for the furthest moon in the gamma quadrant, Warp 9.9. Engage!

Now as long as Gavin doesn't come up from the engine room saying the equivalent of "She canna take any more Cap'n" we're all good.
