It depends by your core values. These words can have different meanings.

Personally, I believe two persons should call eachothers bf/gf only if they agreed on that, if
they agreed on a serious relationship. In my opinion, many people enter in casual dating, into
meaningless relationships. I am not that type of person, I hate people who use the words 'I love you'
to people who mean nothing for them, because their 'I love you' means nothing for their bf/gf. I would
never live with a person like that.

Dating. I only date people who I am interested to build a long term relationship. A date is not necessary
'something serious', but a chance to get to know this person. You may like the person or not, it's just a
date.
There are people who are into 'casual dating' and 'casual relationships' which I am against. You know these
people who use Tinder to get a quick shag? I dislike that because it involves lying in order to get some pleasure.
There is something I call 'real dating', which is when you agreed with your gf/bf to be in a relationship, then you go
for a date together.
In short, there are three types: dating to know people, casual dating, dating with your already established loved one.

Where are you from?
Where are YOU from and why does nationality matter in this context?

To me that means they have some kind of relationship, not necessarily sex. Iceland.

Question for you all.

When people say "dating" or "boyfriend/girlfriend" what all does it imply?

Nothing?
That they committed to being with that person for a long period of time?
That they have had sex with that person?

Is there a difference between "a guy/girl I dated" and "my ex"?

If you could also post your country with your response that would be great. I have my idea of what these things mean but want to see what most people think.
