I find it strange that all the major Christian ethnic groups in the Caucasus are fighting against each other. The Abkhaz and the Ossets are fighting against the Georgians, while the Armenians are also opposed to the Georgians. They should learn something from the Muslim ethnic groups (Balkar, Karachay.etc) in that region.

South Ossetia and Russia commemorated yesterday the victims of the Georgian aggression on south Ossetia.

It happened 8 years ago, on the nigh of the 08.08.2008, just as the Olympic Games were opening in Bejing, Saakashvili, violating his word that no military aggression against South Ossetia would take place, ordered to start shelling from Grads, and then sending tanks into the town of Tshinval.

Memorial photos of the killed, and interviews with the survivors - every family there has someone, whom they lost to that Georgian aggression:

The first round hit the barracks of the Russian peacekeepers. 37 peacekeepers were killed in their sleep. The ruins of the barracks are left now as a memorial:

Georgian tanks and Grads shot at hospitals, schools, kindergartens, residential areas (note the similarity of the actions, to those of the Ukos, attacking the population of Donbass!). People tries to hide in the cellars, but for many that was not enough protection:

The only road for the civilians back then leave the burning city by. But on this road, people were met by armed groups. People were shot, their cars burnt (again, the same scenario as what Ukros 4 years later used against the civilians of Donbass!). The burnt-out cars are left there till now to remind of those days:

Almost all houses in Tshival were burning by the end of the second day of the Georgian aggression, but then it became known that Russian units came to the rescue. Another 2 days were spent on the operation to force Georgia into peace.

By the Georgian actions, Russia could have declared war on Georgia, but did not - not viewing Georgian people as the enemies (and, I think, observing the fact that it was an operation to restore peace during the Olympic games - a supposed time of peace)

"Thank you, Russia!" on a hill side:

As for Georgian and Ukrainian aggression similarities: the internationally wanted criminal and the then president of Georgia, Saakashvili was boasting yesterday how Georgian military got training from Ukraine (Yushenko being the pres of Ukraine back then) and NATO, and how Ukraine sent AA units to Georgia during that aggression. He basically admitted his and his accomplices' guilt!:
