The tag na just warning tags and e no too get influence on their profile or person like that, na just a warning for them to heads-up. Few of the ones who are interested in improving sent me a message about their tag, I checked the said person profile and he was still spamming, I gave him a piece of advice and TBH I can see some changes in his posting.  Others were nuked by the moderator for excessive spamming.

I got a heads-up to drop a formal moderator application - I go need una support when the application drops.

I thank @Igebotz, and all our ogas dem for dis laudable move to sanitize dis our board, e go help to restore di glory wey di board de wen I join di forum as a newbie, dat time our members de happy as di local board de increase with quality posts. Before I know wetin de happen, many newbies enter and I begin to de see many irrelevant posts for di board, di matter really tire me dat time. From my observations now e be like say di spamming and shitposts don reduce, and I believe say na thanks to dis una efforts. I hope say dis spammers and shitposters go learn and do di right thing, make e no be like say we de witch-hunt dem account, afterall dis na anonymous forum, we no know ourselves physically.

If to say him be lock those topics, e for show say him no really know say him dey spam or him dey sorry and wan improve. I think approach nai good pass because if you tell dem to stop dem get people wey dey attack, if you harsh on dem so dey won't go out be punished dem get people wey dey support dem so nai make dem sef dey do like dis. If am not in support of the development of this board, then I won’t be posting here, I guess u don’t even understand what we are talking about here, am not in support of this thread and not this board. If you check my post, history you will see am an active member of this local board.

Thank God am not in support of threads like this, and I will never be in support of it. Not that I like the idea of people shit posting, but we are trying to grow our community and we shouldn’t implement rules that will scare people away, we shouldn’t make things hard for each other.

I don message plenty people wey I see say dem make mistake and I see say dem correct am, if you need evidence, I can show you but I won’t display their response. Also I reported a thread recently which I noticed other members reported the thread also and it was moved from our local board to politics and society, so I will confidently tell you that reporting posts to moderator still works.

I never stopped anyone from cleaning the thread, na just Wetin dey my mind I dey talk, and u no fit stop me. I will keep on sending PM and reporting to moderator since I know what am doing is right.

After tagging accounts, what if those people keep on posting? Are you still going to increase their tag, or will you ask theymos to ban their account?
 
Some people will have useful posts that are not really about bitcoin or cryptocurrency, but they will be useful to the community, but they will be scared to post them because they might think their accounts will be tagged. If the tag is taken serious, then let’s see how our local board activities will drop dramatically.
 
My suggestion is that if an account makes an off-topic post for the first time, then the account should be warned, but if the person continues, then the account can be tagged.

That user is garbage and shitposter - tagged and reported. If he wants to talk about dating apps Twitter and Facebook is what he needs not BTT account. Reported his entire post history

Yes it is a spam post but the author of that thread is not too bad in posting. I have crossed check the posting style of the guy, and all what he needs to do is to be on track with bitcoin discussion threads and avoid spamming and shitposts. And I don't know why newbies e no wan learn, see as igeh create dis thread yet this guys see it and ignore it then create their spamming threads. So time e go to tag them so that ndem go learn from it.

Dem don give warning since last year but newbies e no wan hear. Dey just take di board as a social media platforms discussion. And I think dis one go be a good lesson to dem. Since dem no wan learn from di warning dem go learn from dis one.

This is a good idea, I must say, but I think it also has to be regulated, let newbies who don't understand what Spa post are or who can't identify ai generated post, to take advantage of this and cause more work on your side, unless your ready to do a serious review on your side too.

Even better I wont lie, I don't know what spam post are supposed to look like and if they are exception to what you are looking for, so better can someone fill me in or even better drop a link to a spam post so I can see and know what we are looking for.

This is a very good idea, at least it would help regulate the board, but why I think should also be regulated is so that some persons won't take advantage of it and misuse it, unless you are going to supervise those post before taking the necessary actions.

Indeed pm might be ignored, but a kind of warning must be issued in a way that it won't affect their accounts, cause you not considering new members who have little to no idea, been too strict on actions might also have negative impact on the board too, both sides should be considered, do proper wisdom can be applied. Bringing a solution I not all that matters,  proper applications should be considered.

Na a welcome development @igeh you don really do well because at a point I don dey reason am say while this board don turn to home of shit post. We been don pass this level and of a recent time e come be like say level wey people don pass don dey come back. Though the judgment fit dey harsh but Naim be the only way to reduce shitposting. If person to enter as excape goat people no go calm down.

One thing about life be say a place without law, people misbehave and turn it to a play ground. But with this your idea I believe say people go think very well before Posting. And that thing go make people to fear and bring meaningful contribution. And from hence this thread go serve as a reputation board, any matter them report here go required judgment from the oga them. If them judge anybody matter and more people dey on the negative side about the person, then the person go get a warning ⚠️ first and if the warning no change the person then the person deserve the right carry him cross for head.

Can you explain what is spamming so we will know it from your own perspective because from my reading of all the comments, I have not seen any user spamming this thread. You know support the development of this board and always against, we have been seen your comments here. When users have been littering the board with garages, you have not in any day pm them to stop but as people create threads to clean the board then you go come and spam di thread. Allow those who want to clean di board to do and you do your pm. Upon all di pm you dey do how many of dem e don stop their garbage here? Abeg no vex because I never see my spamming in this thread and if know any pinpoint am make op tag am too.

Finally we get to see some action being taken to support all this discussion and deliberation that have being on going due to the high level of spam posts in the board. This our local has been known for things and that's the ability of how fast and quickly we grew from scratch and now we are one of the most respected and most active boards in the forum. The problem seems to how these don't actually learn if not lots of information has been passed to them but yet no answer but yet the spamming continues more.

I just went through some comments since the Op create d thread na only ur comment make sense to me, some of the posts claiming they are in support of the thread are already spamming, and if you allow posts like that, before u know d thread go don reach multiple pages, last last people go even hijack d thread, so the best thing is to make d thread self moderated, and e go make sense make d OP dey warm those posters first, at least sending them a personal message won’t be a bad idea, then if their is no changes, d OP fit do anything wey him like, and make d Op dey try review those people wey in tag later in d future, if improvement dey, then d tag should be removed.

Right about time. I am glad this is coming from a high-ranking member like you so that it doesn't look like witch-hunting. I voiced my concern sometime ago in one of the threads that our Naija local board is fast becoming like Nairaland were posts of low quality and all sorts of nonsense is allowed. If this measure is not taken, in the 6 months wey would never remember that there was a time were all we discussed was just cryptocurrencies in relation to building our economy and nation.

My suggestions:

• Let this thread be self-moderated, to keep it clean.
• If you tag any user and notice that after some months their post quality improves, you should remove the tag because it shows that they have learned.

That's was the first user that got my attention, I don already tag am, the second user is valid entry too. We don't want this garbage contenta here.

PM will be ignored so the neutral tag is appropriate at this point, it's the first thing den go see and the last before den sleep so they will work extra hard to get it removed.

Wow!! This na amazing thread. I really like this move (thread), you have done well creating this thread. Those well meaningful Members and Full Members have been creating threads to make things better in the local board this days after my thread, and there was nobody to hear their cry and finally you came as the Messiah to them. Me I know shey people wey introduced those shitposters in the forum will contact you but they can't contact their boys to do post well. And I believe with this initiative this board will be one of the best ever. There was nothing to discuss in the local board again and even the quality posts we created have pressed down to page 4 and below with those spam posts. Let start from here and see what will happen in the board and this is what I was planning to do since. Thanks for this great thread. This thread should be at the top always.

Thanks to Igebotz for creating this thread. Our local board has been facing a problem of too much spam posts making it difficult to spot important posts with quality.
I can see the thread is beginning to gain importance as Hatchy has done a nice job of also spotting most of these spammers.
I will say Naija board is in despirate need of a moderator and an off topic child board to properly sort these shit posters. I want to believe that the flooding of this board with shit posts is what is making reputable members kindof distant from it.

This is really a nice step. I had same thought this afternoon but mine was to create a thread in meta where I would drop links of shit posters or spam posts every week for any global moderators to check out and delete such post from our local board. Its really becoming obvious that these newbies are actually out of their mind and have decided to over look all that has been said her about the shit posting. It's time we took some action. I have some ideas that would scare these shit posters to stop spamming and you just made one possible.
