I have reported a total of 1435 posts of them 103 posts are unhandled. And on the last 30 days, there is only 2 unhandled report which you can see from the below image. And last 60 days there was another 4 unhandled report. And before 60 days there is a 97 unhandled report.  So, my question is how long it will stay unhandled. Will it remain an unlimited time or it will be checked or sold within a certain period of time.

The answer lies in the screenshot that you have posted, it clearly mentioned that a report will remain unhandled (even after the mods review) when mods want to mark it neither "good" nor "bad".
So in simple words a neutral reaction on a report which is neither good nor bad then it will remain tagged as "unhandled" forever unless you do what theyoungmillionaire have suggested.

You will have to PM a global moderator or any moderator on that section/board where your topic was reported. They will manually mark it as good.

theyoungmillionaire is correct, but think twice before doing this please. The mods already have an endless list of reports to deal with and only a finite amount of time to deal with them. An unhandled report sitting in your statistics means literally nothing if the post has already been trashed. Lets not waste their time on what is essentially a cosmetic change to your stats, that doesn't mean anything and no one else will see anyway.

thanks to theyoungmillionaire  and you for the explainations.
As I wrote i did not really care on these requests. Just want to understand this specific issue.

It is better to report some new things than wasting the time to report reports Smiley

here the report is in unhandled but the post is deleted.
In this case i think the status will stay forever in unhandled as nobody can handle it anymore.
(no issue for me i keep reporting just want to share this case to underline that removing after some time will make sense.
The reason for such thread to be on unhandled status is that it was trashed, but, the posts weren't deleted. If the topic has been deleted, your report(s) should be automatically marked as good.

You will have to PM a global moderator or any moderator on that section/board where your topic was reported. They will manually mark it as good.

In addition to unhandled reports, staff are voluntarily passing it up the chain (or perhaps ultimately letting it fall into perma-unhandled) because they're uncertain [1]. So, it is not about merits or ranks that some reporters thinking that the staff handling a specific report don’t have the power to do a task, it is about the uncertain possible actions to be given to your exact report.

Thanks to [1]theymos, mprep, and Halab (PM conversations about reporting).

I know not to care too much on unhandled posts but this is interesting:

Most of my unhandled reports are the same like this. Can some mods explain why it happens or link me (bit lazy though) to some older post/thread mentioning about this one?

I think it’s still better to have unhandled reports instead of the possibility having bad reports. Moderators making  the “bad” call is worse and just let it be.

Maybe we should make unhandled reports go after a certain amount of. Time.. Maybe mods should have a good, bad or neither function in order to clear up the unhandled reports..

I agree, I still have 50 something reports wating to be handled, but it will never happen as those are back from the homograph atacks  time.

Yes, but in this won't it discourage to make the report. I think it should be good or bad after 30 days as we cant check the report after 30 days.
Why it will discourage since forum itself encouraging you?

Do not worry about your accuracy too much; one accurate report is worth many inaccurate reports.

Unhandle means soft bad, its clear by forum so you don't need to worry about it, and no need to mark it bad or good.

A report that stays unhandled can be thought of as "soft-bad", since no moderator positively thought that it warranted action.

I don't think we need to worry about accuracy just report post whenever you think that post is against forum rules.

However here is my little try and reported post history  Smiley

Dont care about the unhandled reports !
Sometimes the Mods maybe get on them when they have some time !
Also if you want you can try to report the post again so they get on the reported post or thread then!
But remember it can be that it will be marked as a Bad report too !
Both is possible , anyway keep reporting and dont care about the unhandled reports !  Grin

I've only had two reports that went unhandled for an extended period of time. Both were spinned texts and it took mods about 3 weeks to mark them good.

It might be worth checking [Guide] Reporting effectively by Welsh if you haven't already.

By the way, what type of posts do you report and for what? Can you give a few examples?

So, my question is how long it will stay unhandled. Will it remain an unlimited time or it will be checked or sold within a certain period of time.

You already have the answer for your question on "Your reports" page:

Yes, but in this won't it discourage to make the report. I think it should be good or bad after 30 days as we cant check the report after 30 days.

I don't think so, as unhandled reports wan't affect the accuracy ratio. You did your job as a member of the community by reporting what you believe bad posts and that is the most important. It is not a competition after all.

edit:
Make sure to add a short explanation in the comment field as to why you reported the post. it will make it easier for mods to hundle your report.

The picture you've posted already contains the answer you are seeking. It clearly says that when a report stays unhandled, it simply means that none of the moderators who've checked it were sure if it should be acted upon or not. So the reports that stay unhandled for quite a lot of days would stay unhandled in future as well.

I don't see how. Unhandled reports will normally only be a small fraction of your total reports, and in any case, reporting isn't about getting good stats, it's about making the forum a better place. Your stats are meant to help you improve your reports, not the other way around.

Reports that aren't handled within a few days will typically never be handled.

I think mods leave it unhandled when they're not sure. Generally if it isn't handled within 30 days it'll just sit unhandled. I've had things marked unhandled when a mod has done something about it also so it could be an issue with smf.
