Reporting scam is not as easy and obvious as reporting spam.
You need a place to post your investigation and proof, I don't think Report to DTs button is good option.
In addition DT people tagging scammers are doing it on voluntary basis, they are not paid for doing it but still they dedicate time and have to deal with the negative energy coming towards them from all those being tagged.
Reporting scam in the dedicated section also is a better way to inform the community, someone else can also pick up the case and add more information or proof to it.

I don't see any point of report to DT button really. You can leave -ve feedback yourself and open thread on Reputation or Scam Accusation board. You should ask to tag with proper evidence. If use report button then people's will misuse. As marlboroza already said PM him once you find any suspicious scam a activity. Don't PM for that you don't like someone and you want to tag you. You should tag first with proper references. Usually I open thread on Reputation or Scam Accusation board once I found any suspicious activity and obviously I tagged them first, you can check my trust page. Sometimes PM also to few DT, but I PM post link because need proper explanation why I think that user should be tag. Sometimes need attached picture, so how you will add you multiple picture on report button. DT have no enough time to check your link one by one. Surprised ! You are asking for Report to DT button but you haven't tagged any scammer yet.

So please forget about this button. Open your brain button and use it.

You do some great work. Manually added you to my trust list. I encourage others to do the same.

Before I was added to DT2, I was also whining around and bothering some DT members to tag some scammers/cheaters/abusers/whatever - but as far as I remember I always sent them -ve. If I only had a button... Roll Eyes

If you want to "report" something and you have strong evidence or you need help about something which you suspect it is scam, don't hesitate to send me PM. If I will have time and when I will have time I will see how I can help, but please don't suggest something like "DT button". I can only imagine bunch of pissed bounty hunters hitting hard report-to-DT button to report that their "good project, good ICO sir" scammed them for their rewards.

Now, who do you want to..."report"?

I'm waiting for a "Greatest Hits" thread that would combine merit stats of some sort, a miraculous fix to everything that afflicts the forum, some whining on the unfairness of the elite, and Happy Easter.

Someone will do it I'm sure.

Wait until DdmrDdmr comes back from the island of peace Smiley where he celebrated his life during holiday season.

The reputation sub forum always gets crowded with arguments and having somewhere where we can report scams without people having a debate and burying the information would be beneficial to the community.

Only certain ranks should be able to report to prevent abuse. There would be no benefit for the reporter other than them knowing they are helping the community.

Arguments and deliberations are important in determining whether or not a project is a scam and also whether or not those invloved are accessories to the scam.
Trust is a delicate subject and should be handled so.

I don't see why reporting should be restricted to certain ranks, this forum is all inclusive.

Lol this is what happens when you're searching for merit, it distracts you to the extent you start a foolish thread and in your mind you have written the almighty post that will get you DdmrDdmr type of post merit.

I have been thinking about this for a while.

I don't think you have been thinking about this for a while. You saw the report post for merit started yesterday that got some merit then thought you got do something similar.

So many scams get unnoticed and not everyone has the time to browse the reputation and filter out what is wrong and what is right.

If you feel there are many scam getting unnoticed then you can join the like of ICOEthics and fight against them.  And for those who don't have time to browse through the reputation or scam accusation board, you deserve whatever happens to fund

As you said, because default trust is "broken" then adding a report to default trust doesn't make sense.
Well I don't know if "broken" is the best term to describe the state of the DT system, but it's definitely a fragmented bunch among the DT1 and DT2 members.  Some are active in tagging members who need tagging, some don't, and some haven't even been active doing anything here for quite a while.  Then there's the disagreements and bickering and so forth--so the type of report button suggested in the OP is definitely not going to function well.

There is a whole board for that: Scam Accusations
Exactly.  I don't monitor that section much, but I think some DT2 members do and they tag scammers if the accusation is presented with convincing evidence.  I negged a couple of members recently but had to remove a neg because it looked like the guy was trying to make good on what he owed but couldn't locate the accuser and didn't expect someone to buy something from a very old sales thread.  Anyway, that section should be monitored by DT members, but I think it's gotten inconsistent lately.  I could be wrong about that, but I've seen some accusations with evidence where nothing was done by DT members, so it's hit-or-miss.

I do my best to tag account dealers; Vod's been covering the lending section for years; actmyname and Lauda (formerly DT) had the merit abusers for a while until that went out of fashion; not sure who's got the actual crypto-scammers covered because I don't check who gives what feedback much.  Suchmoon, LoyceV, and marlboroza I think.  I'm not sure how active DarkStar_ is with handing out negs.  Who am I missing?  Honestly I have a custom trust list and am not even sure who's on DT2 anymore.

Edit: Cryptodevil is another DT2 scam hunter, but he works in sections I have blocked. I think he's pretty active along with xtraelv, who isn't on DT as far as I know.

Btw, seems like this kind of suggestion is increasing lately. Is this the time for a report to blablabla thread?

As you said, because default trust is "broken" then adding a report to default trust doesn't make sense. Deciding whether someone wants to scam you or not requires proof and sometimes a post is not enough, so a report button doesn't make sense and discussion/argument is fine.

I have been thinking about this for a while. So many scams get unnoticed and not everyone has the time to browse the reputation and filter out what is wrong and what is right. Could we get a report button that we could report potential scams to those on the DefaultTrust or those that opt in?

The trust system is broken right now and scams are going unnoticed by those who can actually prevent other users from getting scammed. The reputation sub forum always gets crowded with arguments and having somewhere where we can report scams without people having a debate and burying the information would be beneficial to the community.

Only certain ranks should be able to report to prevent abuse. There would be no benefit for the reporter other than them knowing they are helping the community.
