Edited to say I can see it embedded now.

Hi, before I posted this comment, this message appears: "
Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic. "

But I think what I'm going to say is relevant and that it pointless to create another thread.

The image doesn't appear. So I can't see the infographic.

I suppose it was uploaded to tinypic, which ceased to operate 9 days after this post was created. Could please OP upload it another way?

Edited to say that OP was last active November 22, 2019, 09:48:45 PM, so he probably won't. But maybe the reference in the original Welsh's post has to be changed.

Agreed.  And holy crap, OP has 66 post and 191 merits--that's quite a ratio there.
OP is a genius in infographic making. He earned most of those 191 merits from three infographics, this one and those ones:
History Of Bitcoin & Bitcointalk Infographic [Long Gif Inside]
Member infographics [Taking Requests]
Correct me if I am wrong, but it is my first time I see a user whom can earn significant amount of merits. Once again, as we see, creative ideas and high quality works developed from those ideas can make different things.

Op, this is a very good and educative post.

I've always though it's unfortunate that reporting posts is made to be such a big deal on this forum, but I have to concede that it's important.  There's just too much garbage, and it isn't just shitposts to worry about.  I know a lot of older members are doing a lot of reporting, but it's good to get newer members involved with reporting posts that violate rules or otherwise don't belong--so nice job, OP.  I'll refrain from giving you merits for this since you've earned quite a few already, but I'll put you on my watch list of members who might be deserving of more.

I think most times the reason why reports aren't handled or are not handled quickly is because the reporter themselves didn't go about it the right way.
Could be.  I've been reporting posts for a few years now, but I'm not sure I've followed all the recommendations OP provided here.  I've kind of been doing everything off the cuff, so to speak.

Very nice infographic and this will help users who report frequently to get their reports handled efficiently and also make it easier for moderators to handle the report without much stress.

I think most times the reason why reports aren't handled or are not handled quickly is because the reporter themselves didn't go about it the right way. For example one who is reporting a plagiarised post without a link to the original post or source would make it more difficult for the mod to act upon the report.
Op, this is a very good and educative post.

Will be taking the new recommendations and implementing them in the final version. I might include multiple versions of it with different font as thats easy to change.

Great infographic, Zedpastin!

I have a very small suggestion for you. I think you should try to create another version of that infographic, by using normal text style (not capitalized one) for all text in body sections.
Using capitalized text for title, main points is great, but for the rest it will be better (because readers will feel more comfortable when reading, and they might read faster too), to use un-capitalized text.

If you have time, and have interests, just do a new version and compare the current and new ones.

Thanks for this! I'll include a link to this resource within my guide. It's about time there's a more concise, and clear breakdown of things. I've been wanting to do it for a while, but those definitely aren't my strong points.

This might be a pain, but I've decided to update the guide now that I've been reminded too. I've made some small additions, and adjustments to the thread overall, and included suchmoons's tool under additional tools. I will likely be adding the script which extends the "report to moderator" comment field also. I might even dedicate a section within the guide to useful scripts for reporting if I think there's enough to justify doing so.

Another suggestion would be to add the disclaimer that I've got on the thread to avoid users thinking its forum policy.

Original thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-reporting-effectively-4519248

Some small editing issues have appeared but I will be amending them in the next couple of days after I have finished the rest of my current infographic projects....

After getting Welsh's permission to make a infographic of his impressive guide to effectively report I managed to cook up a much simpler version of the thread. The idea of the infographic is to make the information provided by Welsh in a more concise and summarized version. Hopefully while reporting members will find it useful to download and keep it handy to help them. That is the goal at least.

I've simplified most of the explanations and examples and decided against including some of the information present on the original thread but I have made sure to include the thread link on the infographic for anyone seeking more detailed information.
