3. If not, is it possible to set up my own server to authenticate with services like Gmail?

Mt. Gox customizes the Yubikey .. it is not the same as the yubikey that you would buy from Yubikey.

You can use the Mt. Gox key for static passwords I believe, but no the One Time Passwords (OTP).

These are mass produced keys and there are ic's that can be programmed only once, it is possible for security they used that.
After all whats the use if you can reprogram a key its basicly a "security" company.

By chance I picked up a Mt Gox yubikey quite cheaply, and thought I might try and reprogram it with a static password in slot one and an OTP in slot two.

However, when I try to do this using the Yubico customization tool, it says that it is 'protected'.

1. Is it actually possible to reprogram a Gox Yubikey, or have they locked them down with a password?

2. If I do manage to reprogram it, will I be able to move the OTP into slot to and still authenticate using Yubico servers?

3. If not, is it possible to set up my own server to authenticate with services like Gmail?

Cheers
