That's actually a pretty interesting-sounding use-case which makes me want to fix action=.xml, but I'm not sure when I'll get around to it. Probably not in the next week or two, at least. (I can't just enable it, since it's too slow; I have to rewrite at least some of it.)

Okay no worries. Is there a way I can follow along and/or get notified when it is ready?
You can simply click on 'watch' and 'notify' button on the top right side of the thread. Any replies posted here will give you a notification via email.
In case Theymos decides to  fix the xml issue then he might reply on this thread after fixing it which will give you a notification for the same.

So, is this a no?

I'm not an admin so it's not up to me to say "yes" or "no". Give it some time for theymos to respond but if he doesn't or denies the request - you can have it done using the available HTML pages. CloudFlare is going to be a bigger headache than the data format.

For some dumb reason I thought the replies I was getting were from Admins. Lol. I will wait patiently Smiley

I was told by our development team that the way to do this is through XML access

You need to tell your development team to stop looking for excuses Wink

Parsing XML isn't much better than parsing HTML.

Yeah, I have no clue. I'm not a developer. I'm just the guy trying to get them what they said they need.

So, is this a no?

I don't see correlation between mining software and bitcointalk.org forum account. Do you plan to posts mining information (hashrate, temperature, etc.) regularly?

But i doubt it'll happen because :
1. Only admin who can modify forum features
2. AFAIK SMF don't have such feature
3. There are barely any features added in past few years

But your request might considered when new forum is ready, even though people will prefer more modern alternative such as JSON.

Here's what we're trying to do...

We're trying to create a discord bot that will post links to new ANN posts so our community can be kept up to date on brand new topics on this forum. From there, we're also trying to set up some automation to add the new Proof of Work coins to the AIOMiner software automatically with the correct algorithm, details, etc.

I was told by our development team that the way to do this is through XML access

Edit:

We're trying to access the XML action of the Altcoin ANN page: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss;sa=recent;limit=10;board=240.0

But we are getting this error:

action=.xml is disabled due to slowness. If you use this, write a post in Meta explaining your usage.

Hi Mods,

Was hoping you could enable XML access for this account. Trying to implement automation into our mining software.

Please let me know if you need any information from us.

Thank you!
