Thanks for the info, it gives me more understanding. Actually, I rarely participated in airdrops, so I just know the term "scamdrops".
But I saw several bounties required "gass" to claim the rewards. If it was applied in airdrops, I doubt the bounties are also scams.
Do you think all "gass required for claiming rewards" are scams, mate?

Logically, how poor are they not able to pay distribution costs? Are those project failing, without a penny? If so, then you don't need to claim your rewards, because they failed and will leave. If you have other reasons than that, maybe it's a scam or it will soon be over.

I guess that's just a luckiness on the side of that guy, The developers of that kind garbage coin usually use the money to make some kind of fake liquidities on the exchange (usually garbage exchange aswell) to bait people into adding liquidity and buying that coin so that developers could dump his coins that are created out of thin air even further resulting in a huge profit on the developer side. It is like that scheme when turning mainstream coin to ethereum blockchain still popular back then they are doing this kind of method and manipulating the pump and dump activities.
For the people out there just don't expect something from airdrop that demands money just for the sole reason of sending the reward, I mean if the developers can't even afford the fee what do you expect?

I do not think it has something to do with his luck because the project who asked you a few ETH as a fee before sending the airdrop had run away before it gets listed on any exchange. It is a completely different story if we are talking about unlimited token from the minting, it happened before but the team gave the airdrop free without asking any fees.
they did that because they have a capital to manipulate the market unlike this one, in this case the developer does not have a single penny that was why they were asking for fees before sending the tokens and the total the dev gathered won't exceed 5 ETH.

I would tend to agree that bounty hunting is no longer profitable this year. I guess this is due to the bearish alt market. But there are still a lot of companies who you just describe. They still bounty hunters to promote their site through air drops.
I agree with that, 2018 and 2019 are not really good for bounty hunters. Lets call it an autumn season that poor or no earnings at all but always be patience because harvest season will come to most bounty hunters that keep on doing bounties despite of the current market condition. All hard works will be paid off for sure.

Most people are trapped in this situation when the airdrop distribution date has arrived, airdrops don't have to send gas fees just to get tokens that don't have a price, I personally would not do such a stupid thing, research before joining even if it's just an airdrop.

This incident has been a lot happening in the airdrop they ask around 0.02 eth to get tokens if you want to get the tokens scam? I think this is a real scam because usually, AirDrop does not ask for money to get tokens. everyone should be careful because there could be no large projects requesting funds for the cost of gas is not unreasonable.

I totally agree that the teams which request for gas fee from bounty hunters are scammers. I remember one fraudulent project that was advertised on Bitcointalk a year ago. The scammers who have run their bounty campaign promised huge rewards and after the ICO they asked participants to send some ETH coins to be paid. In the end, this scam project has stolen about 600 ETH from investors and then disappeared. If a team cannot bear the cost of sending tokens, they have no money at all. In any case, they will not pay with valuable tokens traded on cryptocurrency exchanges. I advice you not to send any ETH coins to such fraudsters.

Gone are the days when airdroppers and bounty hunters were making it big in the hunting. Nowadays, a lot of people claim to be working on a crypto project do so just to disguise to obtain funds with ill intentions from the public. Most of these project conduct neither ICO nor IEO. They only call on airdroppers to publicize their tokens in return for payment in the publicized token. They use the airdroppers to build their communities. The hunters refer one another with the hope of getting paid.
The will the get their shock of life when the project team demand for little tokens as gas fee for the reward to be sent. Most of them have big pool of participants who if they should pay, the team easily cart away several thousands of dollars worth of ETH.

That's true imagine if thousands will send at least 50 cents, it's like the dev has launched a crowdfunding, even if they sent the token there will still funds left, these developers are very wise and cunning, they know that people are very greedy to get coins even though it is worthless and sometimes will not get into the market.

I always considered participating in Airdrop wasted time. Almost 100% of all airdrops are hype. Deception is manifested, as in a very small amount of payment, by deceiving payment for a commission, and also often in a complete refusal to pay or to pay in part. Even those Airdrops who have fulfilled their conditions and paid, all have a terrible price for their token or coin. Unfortunately, what could have helped many participants get start-up capital just turns out to be ordinary fraud.
This time airdrops are not hype but scam. Some airdrops even put very strict requirements for the participants to acquired their coins. Airdrop is a fraud and it looks like that was a true story.
More and more complaints come from the participants because they have not yet paid even some participants already done a lot of efforts.
It's a scam and i never call that strategy as a marketing effort.
It's too far from the marketing context.

I've joined one bounty recently, where the team asked for the small amount of gas fee to distribute the token, but based on the credibility of the team they are reliable, so anyway I sent and received my reward also. But this is only an exemption because I've participated a lot of their bounties.

I think in the future you should be able to choose projects carefully with the professional team that is available. however it is very unethical if a project asks for gas costs in advance to distribute tokens that will be given to the participants. a professional team will certainly give their best for the projects they have developed and will not charge gas costs to each participant who participates in promoting it

How did they get the contact of airdrop participants, by the way?
Spreadsheets, emails, fill-ups/sign-ups.
Airdrops spread like wildfire before. You see a lot of twitter accounts and many telegram channels with thousands of followers sharing the airdrop forms. A newly created airdrop can get hundreds and thousands of registered participants in just an hour.
Yeah.

And all of those records were being stored by the manager or the bounty management or the company that ran that bounty. That's why all of those information were kept for another purpose.

It can be sold by them or they can use it again for another project to market. That's why if your email was receiving unnecessary notifications from different bounties, that might be the side effect of using your email through bounties.

Airdrops are a waste of time as mostly projects demand KYC details or end up paying few cents as tokens which cannot be even transferred anywhere as the gas charged is more than the worth of the tokens. I have seen projects charging GAS fee but they were genuine and not scam. I received few airdrops this year without even participating. I feel some are misusing my address to get paid.

I cannot agree with you, because I have experienced another side of a coin. I took part in a bounty programme and devs ask to pay the gas fee, because sending rewards to participants would be roughly 50k USD, so I got my tokens and sold them successfully at the ICO price on exchange.

Mind to tell me what project is it?
I never knew sending multiple transactions in ETH network could ask you that much of fees, what is the average fee he was using when he sent the transaction?
most dev or project who asked you to send some ETH to their address to cover up the transaction is a scam.
and your case is quite strange, how much you have spent and how much you get?

Nothing surprising on with these kind of scheme and this had been known already in the past where project owners
do ask out some gas fee for them to sent out those shit tokens?thats total BS if you do sensibly think on but there
were fools who do easily believe into those claims without even realizing that they are throwing out money into the
mouth of those scammers.Yes, gas fees are just too small but if its being accumulated it would really be still a good cost
for those scammers to enjoy on.Lastly, Bounty hunting is nearly considered to be totally dead nowadays.

Its just old scamming trick, not sure still people falling for it? Its just an obvious scam when they ask you small amount of ETH to give their tokens.
There are some airdrops are still using this kind of a crap trick to the airdrop participants to sent a little amount as gas fees to the developers. If the dev is a real developer with a lot of experience and the dev can create such a new contract that can be executed after the address was requesting to the smartcontract and this needs fees in the airdrop participant's wallet and the dev doesn't need to do a lot of effort for that.

This is an old trick but if you wanna try to search even more and you will find some airdrops are using this trick but even some scammers have made the airdrop participants to sent its privatekey.
This trick very similar to the phishing method.

Quite right, in almost all cases when someone from the company’s team asks airdrop or bounty hunters to pay for gas to get tokens for their work, it means that you either will not get anything or you will get tokens that won't even cost one cent , therefore it is better to bypass such frauds right away and you should not wind up your nerves because of such problems.

basically the airdrop program is a kind of giveaway that is used as a promotional tool, as a condition of getting free crypto tokens, participants usually have to follow orders to do certain tasks. I found lots of airdrops scattered about and almost everything was rubbish. Airdrops are now stubborn, from stealing user identities to someone who deceives potential airdrop participants frankly, because now airdrops ask us to fill in Private Key data and there are airdrops that ask us to transfer eth in small amounts but through links the website that they set, and I have seen the website, and the website is clearly phishing, so be careful choosing airdrop

In my months of being a cryptocurrency bounty hunter before, I have experienced a project asking for GAS in order to transfer the fund or payment for the work I've done. Let us say, yes, I have encountered allot of scam projects, but none of them asked me to pay for GAS. in that case, it is not normal for a project nowadays to ask for gas fee, if we are about to see such project like that, I advise not to support it anyways, projects have allocation for their funds and should do such said acts.

It become popular a year ago, airdrops can bee seen anywhere not only in this forum but also in social media, by becoming part of their community, you will receive payment that can be sold on some exchanges. but after the trend, many scam airdrops also came. you will pay for gas and then you will receive a coin without a value.

I don't know when you started noticing airdrops but it was even more popular in 2017. Ethereum smart contract enabled a lot of devs wannabes to create their own token and flood the social media and telegram channels with google forms.

Bounties are so good over the last few years but now it is not that good since the market has undergo depression and then there were a lot of projects that aren't that promising anymore. Unlike when it was 2017, there were many good projects to join to. That's the bountiful year of bounties. Right now, it's sucks to join bounties since the ending would be pretty much high anticipated. You'll get scammed. This is why I would like to join more in IEO based projects rather than ICO projects.

Nowadays, even those projects that do not ask for gas fee or anything at all such as KYC are mostly scams also. So those that are requesting gas fees are more scam than the rest. It is not advisable to take unnecessary risks with these kinds of projects. Always remember also that there are only a small number of projects that are really pursuing a legitimate objectives. The rest are merely taking the opportunity to ride with the current crypto waves.
We need to realize these things around the market. Why bother to join airdrops like this and send any gas fees without any assurance in return?
Many people are still stuck with the mindset of 2017 crypto bull where hope is still circling inside their minds that there are chances that airdrop tokens will bring something huge. There are no clear directions for this kind of project. There are now only few developers who are really keen on making their projects successful in contrast of the majorities who are only making projects just to scam people.

I use to see a lot of these give-me-gas-fee airdrops when I was a very active hunter back in 2017. I also call them scamdrops because gas fees should be handled by the team distributing it. If they cannot even take care of the gas fees, then that means they have no funds to develop their own project.

Bounties doing that is even worse. It is understood that campaigns running bounties already got enough fund from their private or token sales and that's why it makes no sense to ask gas fee from hunters. It's not fair for participants to be required to pay after promoting for weeks or even a year.

striking it big with bounty hunting you have to be realy lucky, most of the times you get some coins for the worth of around 10 dollars , and most of the times they become worthless before they even hit a exchange lol.
People don't make money on Bounties anymore. They need to learn how to trade coins for money.

That's right, some airdrops and bounties are needed gas fees and KYC documents recieve the tokens. Bounties are going with agreements. But they are all not legit. The most airdrops look like scams on these days. They are getting gas fees and KYC documents from it. Then you have to be careful with airdrops and bounties right now. Do your own research about the project before you participate in airdrop or bounty campaigns.

You can't just judge them for doing or asking for gas fee from hunter. You can't simply conclude that project is scam because they are asking for help? What if the project is just out of budget. Remember how bitcoin ask for assistance before? They even asking everybody to help them with donations and help as well. Youre post is attacking those project that might not included lile the OP mentioned.

It won't be fair to compare a token airdrop with bitcoin. Bitcoin is a mineable coin with it's own blockchain based on the community. Creating a token is a easy task that requires just a few lines of codes. If they don't even have a fee to send airdrop tokens, how could they achieve anything from their project. If the team don't know what they are doing, they should promise people with airdrops but rather work to make their project a success first.

OP is lucky to have gotten 1 with value out of 10 from airdrops that asks for gas fee. It could be easily 1 out of 100 for other hunters.

Asking from people for particular amount to be sent as gas fee has been in existence for quite some time and people have learnt their lessons from it, so if it happens now it will definitely not work for so many people, because of their past I'll experiences.

I use to see a lot of these give-me-gas-fee airdrops when I was a very active hunter back in 2017. I also call them scamdrops because gas fees should be handled by the team distributing it. If they cannot even take care of the gas fees, then that means they have no funds to develop their own project.

Thanks for the info, it gives me more understanding. Actually, I rarely participated in airdrops, so I just know the term "scamdrops".
But I saw several bounties required "gass" to claim the rewards. If it was applied in airdrops, I doubt the bounties are also scams.
Do you think all "gass required for claiming rewards" are scams, mate?

striking it big with bounty hunting you have to be realy lucky, most of the times you get some coins for the worth of around 10 dollars , and most of the times they become worthless before they even hit a exchange lol.

Why would a project ask it's hunter a gas just to be able to deposit your reward?
Some projects ask for gas to prevent people with multiple accounts from participating because the multiple account users won't want to be sending small gas from all the wallets they used for the airdrop/bounty.

Every person who is requesting money promising to give you more is probably a scammer, and everyone should be alert.

An airdrop which requests gas fee... or a project that request eth to pay for the bounty hunters, or someone who asks "send me 0.1 eth and I will send back 1 eth" or anything like that...

Stay away from anything like that, because probably it is just a scam.

There were many such projects in 2017. And from many received coin, truth most of them so and remained in purses and their more not sell. It's garbage. So Yes, it's most likely scammers. I remember only a few bounty campaigns that were asked to send a little Ethereum to receive payments and everything went fine, even on the exchanges after that listed.

Anything and everything that asks you to pay at first are scams. If you are no completely sure about what you are doing, don't even send a penny to anyone. There are many fake airdrops that collects your emails, social profiles and access to different functions in your social profiles and some even dare to ask private keys from the unsuspecting users. If you need to participate in such airdrops, just create a dedicated email, wallet and social profiles for them.

Don't even bother to send them your email in exchange for airdropped coins. That is another bait that you are taking. Even if you say that you are creating a special email for that airdrop alone, that is still a waste of your time. The best thing to do with these airdrops is to completely ignore them. One of the reasons why they are thriving despite the history of airdrops which are mostly failures is that a lot of newbies give their attention to them.

Well, those days were just part of your memories now. Since last year, many bounties were not really profitable and realizing it until now. The remaining existing bounties, don't hope for something with them.

They can be from known and unknown companies and the procedure that they conduct is the same as others so the results are likely to be the same. There's still a few that pays but I wouldn't bother or waste my time of joining them.

How did they get the contact of airdrop participants, by the way?
Spreadsheets, emails, fill-ups/sign-ups.

This has been a long time, and working in a telegram group, even many on behalf of large or well-known projects to look for victims. I've also seen posting on the original Facebook, so fraudsters make accounts like original project and comment on original project post that contains fake airdrop. Need to be alert.

I have participated some airdrops before and to be honest it is just like bounty ,
It is gone now you would only get some useless token for your effort,
But if I am not mistaken back then I also tried this gas fee for their token and I could say out of 10 I manage to get at least 1 airdrop that actually have a value.
The truth is that if you only participate in the airdrop as a normal person with an account you will not earn a bit. Airdrop is a race of a group of people or people with hundreds of accounts.

this is common in airdrops. maybe the amount requested by them is small, but still this is very problematic. there are many bounty hunters who were fooled. and more sadly this is not a new problem. this problem has existed since popular airdrop first. but there are still many who are fooled.

yes this is common in projects that distribute airdrops. they say to get the prize we have to send the GAS fee. but in the end none of the tokens entered into the pallet. this is a scam, and very detrimental they just want to get a free token. that's why I don't recommend that you participate in projects like this.

Its just old scamming trick, not sure still people falling for it? Its just an obvious scam when they ask you small amount of ETH to give their tokens.

The trick is really very old. However, there are still people who fall for this simple trick. In particular, this happens in the bounty, when the participant has a good jackpot, but to get it you need to pay a little. From the latest examples of such scams, I can highlight the Neluns project. Also I have no idea who will do this for the sake of coins from airdrops.

I remember what happened with STCDR project, after several weeks of marketing by bounty hunters, during distribution, they created a new token and distributed to hunters saying that the token is a gateway to the STC community and not tradable unless hunters donate some eth so they can list it on exchange. It was ridiculous

whatever the form, if you have been asked something from the bounty or AirDroid that you follow immediately stay away from the project.
one more thing from me if the project looks suspicious like having to buy their tokens on the web in order to get the bounty to leave immediately, because that is also the way cheaters ensnare you.

How did they get the contact of airdrop participants, by the way? Or you mean they lure their victims with fake ICO, IEO or airdrop then turn around to demand for ether gas fee from those who want their coins sent to them?

People accept this airdrops blindly unfortunately. They do not research the projects to know if they are scams or not.

Thats an obvious scam why they wanted your "private key" and need some gas to be able to get paid, But sometimes some Bounty Campaigns needs some gas in return to send your tokens in your address by sending it to the "given smart contract" from the company and not directly needed any participants private key or whatsoever, dont fall for that crap its an obvious scammed! and I agree to your opinion that 2019 is a fruitful year for bounty hunters and thats real deal and we cant do anything about it.

I would tend to agree that bounty hunting is no longer profitable this year. I guess this is due to the bearish alt market. But there are still a lot of companies who you just describe. They still bounty hunters to promote their site through air drops.

But in the end, it's either they ask for your private key to be able to deposit (allegedly) but this is obvious a scam or just ask some gas, which I think doesn't make sense to me. Why would a project ask it's hunter a gas just to be able to deposit your reward?
