Hey, congratz for getting the thread pinned.
Thanks

Please open the other thread and let the agitation begin; we've completed the primary and are now moving on to the secondary. Thank you, Cyrus and theymos, for your prompt response; we appreciate it, but we are still not satisfied.
We were not given local board but our local thread was pinned after we later requested for it, this indicate that our local thread needs more activities but of quality posts. I hope more good Nigerian posters will join us too. We will open the local board request thread when we achieve this. Let us move the rest discussion to our local thread.

This thread is now locked.

You may leave the thread open for appreciations at this time.

It is now pinned, it's as fast as possible, so surprising. Thank you theymos, than you Cyrus. We Nigerians higely appreciate. Nigeria local board is now pinned, so I am looking this thread.

I will unlock the local board request now now or later

Do you realize how awkward it is to have a good discussion on a single thread? With so many interesting topics popping up on a daily basis?
You can barely have the tracking of old post or a post from few days ago. It's almost impossible to have discussion on such a thread. We are in the same boat, we know how painful it is lol. This has been a while we are trying to get a board for Bengali but admin didn’t give it a try. I believe a board would give us more opportunity to discuss things perfectly.

There are several inactive pinned local boards so what's wrong with having the most active board on other languages pinned?
It's now pinned. There's nothing wrong man.

Another thread about the Nigerian board, do we really need it? as far as I can see, there are 11-12 active users, I guess not every one of you will open a new thread on a Nigerian local board.
In that way, you are slowly turning into spam, which certainly does not help in achieving the goal

I guess you missed this part of Charles' quote, and I don't see how requesting freedom is considered spam; since the beginning of the local board thread, there have been one or more posts from 110 users, despite the thread being one of the hidden threads; if you look closely at my active stats, you can see we still have more than 30 active users this year with over 1600+ posts since it was created

If we discuss the real need for your board, to be honest, I don't see the excessive need for that. User @igehhh regularly posts activity statistics on your local topic and for example, in the last week, you wrote a total of 36 posts.
it cannot be called very active, it’s just a little more than a weekly requirement for a signature campaign of one user.

If you look closely at the thread, you'll notice contributions from non-Nigerians, as well as merits patrol from non-Nigerians; a thread with 80 pages cannot be considered inactive; the request is for the thread to be pinned for more visibility, while theymos and Cyrus continue to discuss how many child boards they'll give to the Nigerian local board. Only when theymos and Cyrus have given their verdicts will the request threads come to an end.

I do not think we are turning this into spam all because we were not given local board, for good reason, demanding for a pinned local thread.

Seriously? Check these below stats. We are getting more active than before. Yet, this thread is about Nigeria local thread to be pinned, not a spam as we have not requested for it before.

2021 Board Activities

Yet we locked the board we requested for local board now while requestimg for local pinned thread. Many local boards and local pinned threads are not as active as Nigeria local board.

I don't know if the admin reacts following a particular pattern, like a thread needing to be pinned before it can be turned into a board. The Nigerian local board is very active and always on the top of the first page of the other languages board (exempting pinned threads) and is more active than many pinned local boards.

Pinning the thread is however a less demanding request and I hope it gets accepted. As you said it would give more publicity and those Nigerians who may get be unaware of the existence of a Nigerian community could learn of it and join in, giving more reasons to get an actual board.

First of all, we Nigerians sincerely appreciate members that have been supporting us ever since we have been seeking for Nigeria local board, it is distinct how some members have supported us, thank you all. We hope one day theymos will give us our local board.

Recently, one of the veteran members hinted me to first seek for our local thread to be pinned, that it should be what we should first seek for, that later we can seek for a local board. I have sent pm to Cyrus before, and I believed one or two members might have sent pm to Cyrus about our local thread to be pinned (just a guess). That is why we think sending pm directly may be inappropriate because the thread has not been pinned ever since then, that is why we want to make it official and public on meta board, we highly hope the Nigeria local thread will also be pinned.

Nigeria local thread is one of the most active thread in the other languages board but yet not pinned, there are 22 threads pinned while 21 are local threads, some of the local threads are not even active but taking up space while making Nigeria local board not visible as it should be, that is the reason we are now requesting for the thread to be pinned.

I am temporarily locking Request for Nigeria local board in order to first seek for our local thread to be pinned. We hope theymos and Cyrus will consider this because our local thread is now active than ever.

The local thread has been helpful for many Nigerians so far.

Some posts from 7th of September to 22nd of September (page 75 to 80 of the Nigeria local thread)

We have been discussing about Nigeria CBDC (e-naira) how the CBN banned bitcoin and other decentralized currencies as they are ready to launch e-naira on independence day (Oct 01, 2021) which is few days from now. We discussed much about CBDC and how bitcoin will still be best option to hold as fiat is a depreciating asset, people complaining about USD but fiat of developing and underdeveloped nations are far worse in devaluation.

Although, we need full control of our asset and noncustodial wallet is the good option as it is your key which signify it is your coin on blockchain which means full control. But, some people are active traders, with what I noticed on this forum, many Nigerians here make use of Binance, Binance makes intermediate verification mandatory. Some Nigerians do not have voters card and getting one will even take months. Some Nigerians are not having drivers license and which will take almost a month to get it into plastic. Some Nigerians do not have international passport.

Nigerians have nation ID. I know people that registered in 2014, only the NIMC slip was given, it can be used locally but will be rejected internationally, Binance will reject it. With the help of below post, it will take only few hours to verify Binance account.

How to get your NIN on plastic card for verification.

You can use it anywhere in Nigeria and internationally accepted. (The post was helpful for active traders on Binance that have not verified yet).
