The whole "right to be forgotten" is dumb anyway.

I have the same opinion!
I only asked because I remembered and was curious how the forum handles this. But I got it.

As I often say: this on the internet is in the world forever!
Say what you will, the person after doing something on the internet will never be forgotten. It just might be harder to find the information, but it will be there.

In this case whereby the author doesn't want the thread to exist again, they can lock the thread, move it to off topic or rather delete it after 24 hours as the case may be, but when this kind of a feature is repeatedly noticed and common to a particular user then it requires more and serious observation on the account because something would have been cheated upon best known to him, but how could the moderators detect such if it occurs and delete the thread, another solution is if the author can always report the post to the moderator stating reason why he want it to be deleted, moderators may take further actions.

Does it make sense for these Topic to continue to exist?
Topics like this can be reported or moved to Archive and moderators can decide what to do with them later.
I don't see any issue with them still existing, but I would like if members had the option to delete or at least hide their topics from public.

How does the forum deal with a person's right to be "forgotten"? Imagine that a user wants to delete all his activity from the forum, is it possible?
User can currently delete all his posts (except topics) and ask moderators to change his user name.
Even if someone manages to deletes all his posts and topics, there is still several archives recorded for everything that was ever posted.

This is clearlly stated in About privacy:
Deleted posts and trust ratings, as well as their edit histories - Kept on the live server for a couple of years; then probably kept indefinitely in backups - Don't publicly post things that you might not want to exist forever

🖤😏
But if you don't want to leave a trace on Bitcointalk, don't create an account on Bitcointalk Smiley
The whole "right to be forgotten" is dumb anyway. Many companies here require a copy of your passport and a signed request before they remove your data. Sending more information kinda defeats the purpose of being forgotten.
I expect nothing less from a known social profiler/ data analyzer.😉

Ordinary people should have nothing to fear, unless they engage in illegal activities, otherwise why would someone want to erase his traces from the internet, it's not like we're Satoshi to fear for our lives and vanish. Simply put, don't make enemies and don't scam people, you will be fine. And leave the antics to remain in the past, lol why do you guys care about old topics anyways.

I find your lack of faith in Bitcoin disturbing.
With that came another question:
How does the forum deal with a person's right to be "forgotten"? Imagine that a user wants to delete all his activity from the forum, is it possible?

Theymos' answer on this subject is crystal clear :
I intend to ignore all stupidity coming out of the EUSSR.

It's quite old now, I don't know if the legislation in the US has evolved.

There is no such function on the forum. A user can delete all posts and topics created by him/herself and block himself/herself with a secret question. But. Deleting everything a user has written on the forum won't do any work, because we have tracking services that save everything that is written on the forum.

Any topic you found such is as a result of either they don't want that topic to exist anymore or it was posted out of context and contents, hence requiring them to edit it so they could make some changes. Some of those topic are mostly found in the archived section, now such topic whenever it's being move to that section it's uneditable and being stored for a reference purposes.

Clarified and understood.
I just thought it was noise on the forum, totally unnecessary to exist. But I understand.

Reporting posts from 2018 in dead threads that have already been locked really isn't necessary. Sometimes it seems like people are going out of their way to find stuff to report. Posts that have been edited shouldn't be removed anyway as someone can just edit their post and then report it to try make sure it's fully deleted and people can try cover their tracks this way. There probably should be some sort of statue of limitations on certain stuff because posts in dead threads from years ago really isn't an issue. If you want to report stuff there's thousands of posts made a day by shitposters so it's not like you'll ever run out of stuff to do.

While doing my search through the forum, I detected a set of Topic edited by a user, which only contain "."

Although some Topic  have replies to the OP, at this time the title of those Topic will only have a "." and the content of the OP will only have a ".".

Does it make sense for these Topic to continue to exist?
