I'd vote that computer hardware is duplicated to 'sha256 mining hardware'.

What about scrypt / x11? There are scrypt  ASICs now.
This isn't an altcoin forum.

Hmm...are you suggesting those threads should be moved to the altcoin marketplace section?

Why not?

Should I report this if peopel offer that? as it is to do with alt coin mining.

I fully suport the idea of having a sub forum for computer hardware to declutter the place.

Yes, they might accept bitcoin but it's more relevant to altcoin marketplace. People aren't going to be looking in the bitcoin marketplace for altcoin mining.

While true (it [is] BITCOINtalk.org, after all), there are also altcoin subsections - specifically relevant:
Bitcoin Forum > Other > Alternate cryptocurrencies > Marketplace (Altcoins)

So:
Hmm...are you suggesting those threads should be moved to the altcoin marketplace section?
I certainly would suggest that Smiley  Moderating the marketplace sections is probably a challenge rife with people complaining if you do move things, though Smiley

As far as splitting goes, it might be a good idea.  People looking to buy mining hardware for (relatively) cheap probably have better things to do than sifting through posts about questionable Apple hardware, graphics cards (usually posted under the suggestion of being used as mining hardware - and so should be in the altcoin marketplace), and vice versa.

On the other hand, if your post doesn't get noticed now, it's probably unlikely to get noticed then.  Start with decent subject composition (e.g. "[WTB|WTS] ITEM NAME - LOCATION, PRICE") so that people don't have to click on e.g. "Selling my rig" just to find out exactly what the 'rig' is, how much it costs, and take a stab at shipping prices - and are more likely to find it in a search (forum or google), too.

E.g. from: Coolermaster QuickFire Stealth Mechanical Keyboard (Cherry MX Brown)(Tenkeyless)

To: [WTS] Coolermaster QuickFire Stealth (MX Brown, Tenkeyless) - US, BTC0.125

I have never used that section to buy or sell any stuff yet.
But the way I understand it, is that the whole "Goods" section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=51.0) is suitable for buying/selling products with bitcoin payment and the products themselves do not need to be bitcoin-related.

That's why people can sell an iPhone, earrings, steam games, software keys, etc in the goods section as long as they are sold for bitcoin.
So, why make an exception for altcoin ASICs?

This is just my personal opinion though. Smiley

yeah good idea to filter out the parts that are not needed. maybe a new "trade" section should be put up.. one subforum for miners and another for everything else.

This seems like a good suggestion
Simply put the forum is getting more active so it makes sense that some sections need subcategories and this would be beneficial to most members.

Yeah, I'd probably vote for this. I don't go in the Hardware section much but I think easily being able to specifically differentiate mining equipment from the rest of the hardware would be beneficial.

Honestly, just yesterday, I was thinking exactly the same thing. It's quite annoying having to scroll through ALL the mining hardware just to get to a few motherboards / PSUes.

However, I think abused GPUs should be part of the computer hardware section. A lot of GPUs have at least 3 year warranties on them, so if one dies, you can just RMA them. So, the quality of the GPU isn't all that significant imho.

It is nearly impossible to buy or sell computer components that aren't related to mining on the Goods forum. The "Computer Hardware" subforum is completely flooded with ASICs, PCI risers, and R290s that it is impossible to sell or buy hardware that isn't mining related.

What do people feel about splitting this subforum into "Mining Equipment" and "Non-Mining Hardware"? It would be much easier to buy and sell processors, RAM, GPUs (read: Non abused Non AMD), Monitors, Keyboards, and various other things. I was trying to sell a keyboard the other day, but it got moved into the Computer Hardware section and instantly buried under all the ASICs for sale.
