Welcome to the SaltySpitoon, how Tough are ya?
I'm always really happy to see new things being created rather than just consumed, but you really had me at 'pirate treasure'.

I'm auctioning off the first three bars created here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/auction-finished-the-first-3-999-silver-garlic-bread-loaves-2887662

I don't really know that I can get the point across with pictures, but the texture in your hand is incredibly gratifying. I don't know how turning these into paperwallets with the hologram stickers will effect the hand feel, but I'd not be surprised in the slightest if a few people decided just to keep them for general handling. The day that I made these, I ended up keeping them in my hands for at least 8 hours.

I've also switched up my equipment a bit, mainly the vacuum pump I use to get the air bubbles out of the plaster when making the molds, but also additional finishing things. I'd imagine this will result it much smoother bars, but that may or may not be desirable so I'll be sure to adjust as I go. I'm also looking at laser engraving equipment so that I could engrave encrypted keypairs into things for people. My biggest issue with paper wallets is that they aren't flame resistant in the slightest. Silver should be pretty fire resistant, though when I reach that point I'll make sure for certain that there'd be no distortion to an engraved key if heated to ~1300 degrees from a house fire.

In addition, I'm pretty chemically inclined. I've got some acid distillation equipment that I use for making plating materials and various other useful lab materials. I've been playing around with the idea of a two part coin or medallion, the center in gold, the outer portion in silver, and then with the keypair section plated in rhodium. Of course I could mix it up with some exotic materials, but that'd require some additional research. I need a bit more equipment for my planned hydrogen torch for melting platinum group metals as well, but these are all things that are attainable. Of course I've got a handful of sapphires/emeralds and such laying around if something needs to get real blinggy. Maybe a 5 Kilogram Flavaflave Bitcoin medallion thats guaranteed to cause neck and back pain (kidding).

I've always really liked the concept of wearable private keys. Four fingered Charlie is the only one I've seen do it right though, and I'm not 100% certain I could replicate anything like that.

Nice job Salty.  I know how difficult and stressful what you're attempting to do can be.  Glad to see you're sticking with it!

....The little bit of texturing makes it feel less like a die struck coin, and more pirate treasurish .....

Howdy howdy everyone!

In case you missed my other thread with my posting, here is a link to the single-sided Garlicoin Coins preorder page. https://meme.shopping/products/single-sided-garlicoin-coin

I'll also love anyone who can either help explain or provide a link to some guides or whatever to figure out how to put material on there to make them cold storage. Ideally I'd like to provide resources to the Garlicoin Community at large so they can have some cold storage solutions.

Here is a handy link: https://www.coindesk.com/information/paper-wallet-tutorial/

I know member hybridsole has made some Garlicoin paper wallets. Worth contacting them for some help/pointers Cheesy

this is the site I used to make a paper wallet:

Nice job Salty.  I know how difficult and stressful what you're attempting to do can be.  Glad to see you're sticking with it!

Thanks for the kind words  Grin

Getting it perfect is stressful, I'm just seeing how it comes out along the way. If it works out well, great. If not, I'll just melt them back down and try again.

Anyway, here is the result after course buffing and a bit of detailing. Its not perfect, but its got a lot of work left to go, and the hand feel is actually really pleasant. The little bit of texturing makes it feel less like a die struck coin, and more pirate treasurish with the grainy context of bread working with it. Anyway, now I'm onto the fine buffing, then tumbling/burnishing and finally I'll see about rubbing them with a bit of renaissance wax.

pic below:

I love it Salty! Keep it up! I prefer the poured bars over the clean blank ones.. Lesbian Cow recently got me in to appreciating the uniqueness and rich character that the poured bars actually have.

I will buy your loaf sir!

Tried out my molds today, they worked pretty well, I've got a few ideas for next time as well. Here are the unfinished pours (haven't been polished, sanded, buffed, etc)

will post when they are shiny and pretty later. They are ~82 grams each. Also a few other pictures for those interested. (It was raining while I was making them, which is not a good idea kids, stay in school!)

Haha! I love it!

Salty, if you make these and they are semi reasonable in price i'll take at least one for sure.

thanks!

**edit: will you do it in .999 silver or other? I would personally prefer .999 over sterling for example Smiley

I'm going to give it a shot today or tomorrow. I've gotta cure the molds which takes forever, so I might as well make a couple. I'm going to do these in .999 silver, they'll tarnish, but whatever.

Requires a bit of cleanup of course, but

couple little bits to clean up with a brush/utility knife when it dries, but all in all not terrible. I didn't vapor smooth the positive because I kind of liked the tiny circular ridge pattern. Makes it look textured like bread.

This ~3oz silver loaf is really taking off, I wouldn't mind seeing something different for a change and it's a required ingredient for garlic bread.  I'm excited and looking forward to the progression.  Cheesy

Will 3D print it tomorrow to see if I could make a decent mold from it. I wouldn't get my hopes too high yet, even if it works, they'll likely be slow to make, each will have some sort of imperfections, weights will probably vary a bit, and you wont be able to keep them nice and pristine like you can with a coin in an airtite. That said, I've got some poured silver bars and at least in my opinion, they are way more fun to handle and play around with than pretty coins pressed from blanks.

I'm sure they wont really be worth making, but I'll probably make a handful just for grins if its possible to get decent results.

so now to keep them pristine we'll need someone to make a garlic bread-shaped Air Tite lol  Wink

looking forward to seeing this  Cool

That is a hilariously fun idea  Cheesy

Still likely not done, but a little more detail.

~ 2 inches (5.08cm) long
~ 1 inch (2.54cm) wide
~ 0.5 inches (1.252cm) tall

with three 15 degree slots cut ~ 3mm into the bar
and a 10mm x 10mm x 1mm square indent on the bottom to put a paper wallet in (might not be feasible)

and it would be just shy of 3 oz of silver. I could change a few minor dimensions to get it closer to 3 oz, but there would be a bit of variation regardless depending on how much polishing and finish work would need to be done.

Oh wow a silver loaf.  Salty how much silver would you think that it would be for the full loaf? Cheesy

Hey there!

I'm actually one of the guys mentioned in this thread who've made physical GRLC Coins. If ya'll are interested in picking some up stop on by my store
here > https://meme.shopping/products/garlicoin-coin-grlc-accepted-after-preorder

I'm not knowledgeable of holograms and that process as of yet, but I know how to get coins made and shipped!

It looks awesome. I'm going to order a few to help spread awareness of Garlicoin to my friends. Hopefully, this would make a nice addition to my physical cryptocurrency collection once it arrives. Now, if this was a DIY coin it would've even better. But, nonetheless it is a great collectible.  Cool

Thank you so much! I freakin love how supportive this forum is, its insane! Cheesy

On your website it seems that you've indicated depending on demand that you might make more.  Any chance we could get one side blank ?  You'll sell a whole lot more here (as I'm sure you've noticed).

THIS!

Consider it done! It might not be for a little while though. If you head to my site and sign up for my newsletter I'll make sure to let everyone know through there! (I'll do my best to post here as well!)

Now we're talking!  Very nice.  The sooner the better we're all hungry  Cheesy  Thanks!!  (I'd highly recommend coming back here and posting when it's ready.  Between people not wanting to sign up, spam boxes etc it'd be good idea)

I might try casting a couple of these in silver. This is just a really quick mockup that took maybe 2 minutes, I'll play around with it a bit more later. Having a loaf of bread seems more appropriate than a round coin.

Mockup > 3D print > Sand mold cast. There would be a bit of texture to the bar, but that might just make it look grainy like bread hopefully?

The Stone the masons rejected was the cornerstone.
"Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food."

Those are famous words from the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, often called the father of Western medicine.

He actually used to prescribe garlic to treat a variety of medical conditions.

1. Garlic Contains a Compound Called Allicin, Which Has Potent Medicinal Properties

2. Garlic Is Highly Nutritious, But Has Very Few Calories

3. Garlic Can Combat Sickness, Including the Common Cold

4. The Active Compounds in Garlic Can Reduce Blood Pressure

5. Garlic Improves Cholesterol Levels, Which May Lower the Risk of Heart Disease

6. Garlic Contains Antioxidants That May Help Prevent Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia

7. Garlic May Help You Live Longer

8. Athletic Performance Can Be Improved With Garlic Supplementation

9. Eating Garlic Can Help Detoxify Heavy Metals in the Body

10. Garlic May Improve Bone Health

11. Garlic Is Easy to Include in Your Diet and Tastes Absolutely Delicious

It has a few things going for it:

1. No ICO, no dev pre-mine, no insta-mine, no ninja-launch or any other sort of bamboozles.
2. ASIC Resistance and profitable to mine on many GPUs.
3. Regularly reaches the top of reddit r/all through the power of memes alone.
4. Devs seem to be focused on long term and discourage any talk of prices, markets, trading, etc. Currently building a video game to use GRLC.
5. Upcoming airdrop of 1 GRLC to 130,000+ interested participants from reddit
6. SegWit enabled, thus ready for LN and layer 2
7. Controlled supply (cap of 69M)

Thanks.  Just thought of a couple more:

8. Has Electrum fork (Garlium), web wallets, 20+ pools, for a coin less than 2 weeks old. Sites like https://grlc.pizza/
9. Fairly/under valued (current market cap less than $1.5m)

Garlicoin is, in my opinion, the successor to Dogecoin. At its core, it's a joke and a low stakes way for people to get into crypto. You can mine it pretty easily on almost any GPU.

1. No ICO, no dev pre-mine, no insta-mine, no ninja-launch or any other sort of bamboozles.
2. ASIC Resistance and profitable to mine on many GPUs.

Lauda I believe this coin to truly be a shitcoin made by forum dwelling nerds (like us) as fun and to not be taken seriously.  Fun/cheap shitcoin collectible is all.

Terminated.
Why would you want a physical coin of this particular shitcoin? Some people have lost their ideals.

I’ll be picking one or two up. Wish you had made them DIY. Cool anyways tho thx!

Agreed on the DIY sentiment but not bad for a first shot!   Grin

Will be interested in picking a couple up.

I could engrave an image and address/key on a silver blank if you really wanted one.  Might be a way for you to get a funny one with a custom image.

I'd go for one  Grin

and then perhaps some BG4 papersafe would be sick, too.  I'd buy

Ill make a 1/4 OZ silver physical garlic coin if someone wants to make the holograms we can team up

Awesome. I've been looking forward for a physical Garlicoin as well. Ones that could be used as wallets with holograms would be a nice idea, since GRLC is gaining popularity within the Reddit community. If you decide to make these and sell them, let me know via PM. I'll be glad to order one of these coins for collecting.  Smiley
