Nice one OP. Nigeria is a very diverse country, there are 36 states in Nigeria, I assume your samples were cut across the States or at least some of the major cities if not the research can't be conclusive and used to generalize the nation. For example, you can't possibly use a soil sample acquired in Texas to generalize the whole of the U.S. I believe the same applies to this case.
The research title should be subjected to the particular state or area the samples were collected from.
To get a wider range of subjects, you adjust your methodology instead of meeting individuals with questionnaire forms, you can make use of social media. You can create a poll and publicize it on your various handle and encourage others to share and participate. That would help

I think you've put in a lot of effort at this point and it would be great as an indirect promotional effort for bitcoin.

In my opinion, your current research method is much more difficult and takes a lot of time to spread research question to respondent. During Covid19, I think this method will make it difficult for researcher to reach more respondent because of health protocol. If you are interested in doing more research on the same topic, then my suggestion is to try to use the google form which you can share via social media, message, community group, especially those in your contact. Ask a few people in your contact to forward the form to other people they contact and so on.

This method was much more effective in reaching more respondent during covid19 and also saved travel cost because it was done voluntarily. I think you will have a large number of respondent who are willing to answer more question because this method is a little more anonymous than your previous method. Bitcoin is your way of increasing financial privacy, so give your respondent that opportunity to gain that privacy. Meanwhile, that's all I can say for you. But I think your effort are worthy of appreciation.

OP, I'm just curious about the color of the pen that is on each question image in the OP (my eyes show it is all blue). Did you fill it in yourself when asking your respondent?

or if English isn't their primary language, and the survey is conducted in English then that itself can lead to interpretation issues, which might skew the results.
It is why I asked the question about the language in the questionnaire and the main language in Nigeria.
  • If the interviewer ask interviewee with their own translation from English to Nigerian language, it can cause information bias.
  • If the interview collect a group of interviewees, give them questionnaire and let them being free to answer queries in group(s), observer bias will occur.

COMPILATION OF RESULT (in OP) is a draw table and it does not tell a story to readers. It should be presented better for descriptive statistics.
With regards to the question on language, English remains the dominant language in Nigeria as we were colonised by the British who brought English down to us and as such, we had our local mother tongue but, it varied across tribes and in our effort to speak English as the British did, we came up with something called Nigerian pigin but, it remains second to English though, its a very interesting language. It comes up with sounds so pleasing to the ears of those who understands.

The sample size was met with a limitation considering the fact that, the data collection was done during the covid19 complications and as such, access to people and getting peoples corporation was an issue. Though, the research is still subject to more modifications either by me or any concerned crypto enthusiast.

Your critics are welcomed and I need more educational critics to point out a direction bias, limitation that needs to be considered in course of next research. Thanks.

Also, bearing in mind that 1000 sample size from similar backgrounds, which is usually the case if they live in the area that the survey was conducted, isn't as good as multiple 1000 sample sizes from various different backgrounds. Unfortunately, a survey is never really a great example of integrity, as there will be those that lie, and bend the truth
Agree with you. As said, there are many factors that contribute to bias results of one survey. Sampling method, sample size, quality of questionnaires are only one of them.
Bigger sample size are better but it does not a perfect guarantee for quality and data interpretation if other factors are bad (terrible sampling method -- selection bias, poor quality questionnaires).

Sample size is not the only factor. Sampling method is another important factor that affect the validity of data collected. Non-probability sampling (convenience sampling) means survey participants will be chosen randomly.

If the method is not good and can not represent the population, results in that data and that survey can not be extrapolated to the whole population, in one province, one city or one nation.

The best sampling technique is PPS - Probability Proportional to Size

  • The questionnaire is in English so I guess the main language in Nigeria is English.
  • How many survey participants disclose that they will create an account in bitcointalk forum?
  • How many of them actually did?

However, despite the issues outlined by yourself, and I there definitely is some merit to higher sample size since it tries to mitigate these issues. Really, 1000 is my minimum to even consider looking at the results in any depth, of course ideally you would want far more than that to start drawing accurate conclusions from.

I wish you could also one day disclose more details about the research in adaptation. As for your information, I was excited to see that there is a research regarding bitcoin adaptation. As bitcoiners, we know the benefits of the bitcoin system could bring like the no third party involved, not controlled by any organizations like the government, protecting privacy and the likes. Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency and could be make the balance out from the centralized currency like the fiat currency system.

Now that bitcoin had made some demand from the people around the world which fits the OP topic about adaptation. The surge of bitcoin demand is one of an indicator of bitcoin adaptation. Anyway, I do believe that sooner or later bitcoin will be adapted whether it will be approve by the government or not. It will be the bitcoiners to run the bitcoin system. The higher number of bitcoiners uses the system the higher chance that bitcoin adaptation will going to happen.

Good Luck OP to your research and wish you have the best results for the research you chose which is about bitcoin adaptation.

As DdmrDdmr suggest I would have liked to see a larger dataset, preferably above 1000 to actually be able to start drawing out some conclusions.

As DdmrDdmr suggest I would have liked to see a larger dataset, preferably above 1000 to actually be able to start drawing out some conclusions. Although, I appreciate organizing surveys, especially when people generally aren't interested in filling out surveys to begin with, and more so when people aren't particularly interested in broadcasting that they own Bitcoin.

I think the move of the Nigerian Banks to ban the the use of Bitcoin through
bank accounts only compels more people to rebel against that move when they
see their freedom to choose taken away. People will find a way.
I believe this has been demonstrated in various different countries, but the country that comes to mind is China. China has been fairly hostile to Bitcoin in various different ways, but I believe they had the highest volume of transactions for a long period of time. I imagine they still do without checking.

Quite informative research and it is a good one to know that concern citizens and crypto enthusiast are taking in steps to the general acceptance of crypto in there nation state and globalisation of crypto.

I would have loved to see some limitations on the part of the research so, future researchers can focus on it and its improvement in that aspect in future researches. It is a good one and I hope more of researches like this come up because as it is, its general ignorance that causes people to flee even before they could have a chance to know more of bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

Great bit of research done there, and very informative, well done.

I can relate to the younger people getting into Bitcoin and finding out through
word of mouth and through friends because I started a thread recently about
how my daughter bought Bitcoin and that all of here friends have done so too.

Very interesting to give a comprehensive questionnaire of how people feel or get to know about bitcoin. Although I get to know about bitcoin through a friend that introduces me to this forum (bitcointalk). Bitcoin has come to stay in Nigeria and it can't be ban. I deemed it right for us to introduce more of our friends to this forum for them to have a better knowledge of crypto

Nice effort there, specially bearing in mind the aims you have which go beyond the survey. I won’t go into the details, but just to point out a few minor things:

-   Sample size often needs to be larger to be conclusive (i.e. see a rough estimate here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/mp/sample-size-calculator/), but 100 is enough to get notions (not conclusions, as you yourself point).

-   The more questions with a closed set of answers, the more quantitative numbers you can draw. The more open the question, the more qualitative the approach.

-   The age groups stats at the end of the post don’t add up to 100. Perhaps there’s a typo or something I’m not getting.

-   Sometimes, you may need to force certain quotas per age range, in order to make sure they are not misrepresented (that’s for you to consider in any case).

One thing I didn’t quite get is how the random participants were chosen. Question number 1 queries about the number of sessions for a certain project, which I do not follow, but that could give a certain bias to the results (i.e. it’s not the same choosing 100 random people at the market, than 100 pupils or potential pupils at an academy). That wouldn’t make the results right or wrong, just fitting to a given context than often needs to be made explicit.

BITCOIN ADAPTATION IN NIGERIA AND RELATIVELY TO THE WOLRD

INTRODUCTION

Over the years, the world has been looking out for a faster and more accurate way of doing a thing better in varying fields of human endeavor especially in technology. There came the era of Bill Gate and Microsoft with a vision of putting computers on every desk in every home for easy computation amongst other. After which came the advent of the internet or the web and Google where people can log on, search and upload information from anywhere around the world as well as the uploaded information could be accessed by anyone worldwide. It also created fields to make the connection of person to persons possible. These innovations came up with the central idea of making the world better with the globe as its targeted market and it existed within a centralized system, crushing all its competition and the rest of the world were compelled to live with it. Now, it’s the era of Bitcoin, a currency based innovation.
There have been over time a need and development of an online based currency without success until bitcoin came along. Bitcoin is a digital currency within a decentralized system that exists on the blockcahin. Now, technology remains a developing field in our world today and only came to humanity some decades ago with its complete admittance and utilization still a work in progress in the developing nations and among certain age grades not within the jet-age category. Due to these facts and speculations, the field is questioned in lots of aspects and not trusted under different counts so; it becomes a thriving idea to discover as to how much people know of bitcoin.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
•   Admission of bitcoin for a currency and exploiting it
•   Acceptance and adherence to false accusations/policies on bitcoin
•   Critics on bitcoin based on references rather than experience
•   Not doing your own research on the field (Bitcoin)
•   Being too used to the old ways of transacting or doing a thing

ISSUES ENCOUNTERED IN COURSE OF THE STUDY
•   Covid-19 regulations with regards to interaction and social distancing
•   Financing the study process
•   Gaining access and the corporation of people
•   Some level of dejection

AIMS AND OBJECTIVE TO THE STUDY
Note: This study was entirely done in Nigeria so, it’s centralized as such although and it’s relative to the world.
This research work isn’t sponsored by anyone and also, it was a research work born out of mine curiosity and as such, the areas of interest is picked out of my curious mind.
•   To actually promote bitcoin, it’s acceptance and usage within my locality and in time, the world
•   To ensure a better understanding of the field for the equipped and knowledgeable few in my locality
•   To let the people know bitcoin is not the enemy rather, an ally
•   To build in individuals the need to research, explore before critics

METHODOLOGY
Random sampling: 100 participants were selected and sampled were randomly selected and sampled within Nigerian adult age grade.
Questionnaires were employed in course of this research
Individuals subjected to this interview did so within their freewill

RESULT
Note: Only 9 samples would be displayed to ensure the thread doesn’t look too clunky and ensure it’s decency.
(Photos of 9 answered questionnaires)

POSSIBLE INTERPRETATION
Bitcoin in Nigeria is more of a thing of the youths, looking at the fact that, the youths are the jet age and grew into this technological advancement. Hence are more interested and used to the tech world than other age grades.
The negativism with bitcoin decreased across age groups to form a partial pyramind if viewed in ascending other with regards to age differences though, the 40-49 age grades didn’t respect this order.

It’s of note that, friends are the major source of information with regards to bitcoin and as such, should friends be equipped with the right information; there would be more of a future for bitcoin in Nigeria and relatively the world.

RECOMMENDATION
With Nigeria amongst other nations trying to enforce a ban on bitcoin and crypto, it becomes an increasing need for a crypto awareness campaign in any little way, perhaps through mouth to mouth discussion. To be a song on the lips of bitcoin and crypto enthusiast that should be song to a weary ear and an ignorant mind at any opportune time, so as to promote the crypto legitimacy and awareness

For every crypto enthusiast to ensure they introduced interested members of the public to the bitcointalk.org field as it stands the best place for a crypto education and guide through active discussions and lucrative activities they boost involvement and yields dividend.

In order for there to be no hindrance to bitcoin growth in Nigeria and at large, information dispersion view mouth to mouth is of great importance and people should refer people to the bitcointalk.org for further learning and discussion. It would go a long way by asking them to invest as it creates a sudden phobia to be weary.

REFERENCE
There isn’t any as this just happens to be the first of its kind within my locality.

Note: This research is open for further research and improvements on my limitations and the interpretation of result isn’t conclusive as one man knowledge isn’t enough to make inferences on a data set. It would be updated from time to time if need be.Thanks.

Kind Regards
