~snip~ The goal of the research is to gain an overall understanding of the current awareness levels of people about the negative side of the cryptocurrency industry as well as to better understand people's attitudes towards them. ~snip~
I think it must be better if you view people's awareness levels from both positive and negative sides. So, you will get the result in what sides people more aware about the cryptocurrency industry. You will get natural and fair data if you view from both two sides. But if you just view it from the negative side, it is like to direct the public opinion to one side only. In my opinion, the result will be not natural and fair.

~snip~ I currently have loads of data, but the majority is from individuals who have not been involved in cryptocurrencies. ~snip~
How can you get the data from people who aren't involved in cryptocurrency? They don't really understand and know about it. The best way should be by gaining data from the people who are involved in the crypto industry. They know and understand about it, and they will get you information with high accuracy and validity.

The huge amount of energy used is something subjective but as of know, the banking cartel uses more electricity than Bitcoin.

bitcoin's mining process also has an energy efficiency advantage over other industries because it incentivizes mining where energy is cheap---where there is abundant (excess) supply. eg hydropower-heavy regions or near power plants (which over-generate to keep the grid stable)

as the renewable energy infrastructure expands this will become increasingly relevant too.

Completed the survey as well. I hope you will get enough participants.
The "issues" mentioned in the surveys aren't really issues to me. Always the same thing about illegal goods, money laundering, etc... These problems are here with the traditional currencies too, it's something we cant' avoid. Even if you find a way they will find another way.

Well the research topic is OK but why focusing on the awareness about the negative side of bitcoin/cryptocurrency, why not general knowledge about cryptocurrency and the blockchain, because there is no research about digital currency that will not touch blockchain because that is the mechanism crypto run on.

It is his own research so it is free to choose which topic he is going to use for his research project. This topic is even better than just about general knowledge about bitcoin as it is being researched many times already. It will be just another review of bitcoin in general only, a different research will be much more interesting to discuss than just the general knowledge of bitcoin where you can find it easily by googling.

Done filling the survey, hope it help you a bit.

I went through the survey. It was interesting and made a lot of sense. However, I'd like to comment it a bit. The environmental issue is not the issue with cryptocurrencies as such. It is the issue with all electricity. People have all sorts of things that require electricity but somehow we don't blame other inventions that much. And we shouldn't. We should try to reduce the consumption of energy if it's not a hard thing to do, but mainly we should be switching to renewable sources of energy, so that the impact on environment is reduced. Another thing worth mentioning is money laundering. People keep talking how cryptos are useful for this activity as if there is no money laundering without them. Moreover, the authorities, the banks and big companies are usually those laundering money. In this sense Bitcoin's decentralization even helps to fight it. Regulators are watching people, but who's watching the regulators?
And that's how we get way more money laundered with fiat than the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies.

Done taking the survey and you have an informative topic. It's also an eye opener for those who are wondering about the negative effects of cryptocurrency. All I can say is, it isn't the cryptocurrency which is creating those problems but it is how users use it in different ways. To tell you honestly, I was aware of all those issues even before I entered crypto world so it didn't affect my belief and my decision in investing for I know that there are also lots of positive effects of cryptocurrency in the environment, society and the economy.

I am currently undertaking a final year bachelor's degree research project in Business and Management in the UK. My topic is very relevant to Bitcoin as the research topic is; "Awareness and attitudes towards ethical issues in the cryptocurrency industry". The goal of the research is to gain an overall understanding of the current awareness levels of people about the negative side of the cryptocurrency industry as well as to better understand people's attitudes towards them. I currently have loads of data, but the majority is from individuals who have not been involved in cryptocurrencies. So, it would be very helpful to receive so replies from some of you as one of the key parts of my hypothesis is that cryptocurrency investors are likely to have a very different level of knowledge and attitude towards these issues! If you could take two minutes to fill out my Google Forms survey, I would be very thankful! Also, I am happy to receive some feedback on the survey.

Edit. Also, happy to share some of the results here afterwards.
