are these still selling?

the colorbit  hosted miner would be better.
try colorbit 1T hosted miner price is only 2.85btc, the total host fee 0.25btc/month(include electricity ).
mining is so easy ,the miner start to work for you within 10 minutes.

you can check the detail of the miner through the following link
http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/131gBm2SsBjWBLePCVQpSB4gYwbA7e9vS1

and see the worker detail by clicking the tag "toggle display of worker details"

if you want to buy one such miner, just tell me which worker you want to pick and give me your btc address, then we will point it to your btc address on eligius pool

So evidently the second power supply *really* should be from the same line as the unit it comes with because of how the wiring is done, otherwise you can only power one board with the 2nd PSU unless you want to figure out the pinouts and redo all the wiring.  And even though there's two atx connectors I would recommend not connecting the 2nd psu to the mainboard because this triggers a burning smell which I'm pretty sure is not a good sign.

On a side note, the quality control needs some work, the main board seems to be insulated from the chassis with MASKING TAPE underneath and you have to keep the PCB partially unscrewed because screwing it down causes a short and then the unit won't power on.  That is some seriously questionable insulation work.  Going to take it apart and better insulate it because as it is if the board gets pushed down for some reason (i.e. the unit gets bumped or something) it'll short which is crazy.  I'm not sure why they didn't just go and buy electrical tape, I mean that would already be pretty half-assed too.

Those issues aside, with a second PSU in this thing is kicking butt at 1.2Thash so despite the questionable build quality, if you're willing to take these apart when they get to you and reconnect everything and inspect that everything is properly insulated, etc. it's actually a pretty good deal.  I would buy it all over again if that means anything.

FYI the power supply cannot keep this running at 1.2Thash so if you want to overclock these you *have* to add a second PSU or find a compatible upgraded PSU

What was the customs declaration as in the e.u. this is an issue?
They put $3400 USD which is rather silly since $400 of that was shipping so they actually increased the value of the machine for the declaration.  So if you live in a country that assesses import taxes on most things you'll probably be on the hook for a fair amount.  I don't think they provided info as to what it was exactly because DHL ended up asking me for all this information.

If you are in the US I would be proactive and call DHL the moment this hits customs because DHL did not even try to contact me.

After some more testing it seems that if you set the local difficulty to 1024 some pools flip out.

Am doing some overclocking testing...so far it seems that you can get about 1.2Thash out of it somewhat stably but the problem is that the PSU is definitely not rated for this kind of power draw from what I can tell.  There is a spot for a 2nd PSU, looks like the best choice would be a modular HEC/Cougar unit since that's what they use and it would be plug and play, but otherwise you can probably run any random PSU and just put one board on the 2nd PSU to reduce the load on the first PSU.

Well, the software on this seems to have issues with some pools-ghash only sees about 50-60% of the hashrate seen locally and eligius was seeing hilariously bad numbers (like 15Ghash) for some bizarro reason.  Don't know if this was a temporary connectivity issue or what but it seems like these were mostly tested on chinese pools.  BTCGuild works very well with it (though the 3% fee is kinda sucky) reporting 1Thash almost right away so at least we got that part settled.  Really need to investigate what would be a good backup pool though.

After toying around a bit it seems that colorbit is the only company that put in a webui for overclocking.  Bumped the Mhz up to 850 and rebooted the machine (wish there was a software reboot somewhere but apparently not) and it seems to be getting 1.08Thash now but it seems that some of the boards don't like the OC.  Seems like 3 out of the 5 boards handle the overclock without issue but 2 of the boards now have significant amounts of HW errors (around 15% and 8% respectively) so it doesn't seem too worth it.  Wish there was some way to overclock each board individually to a different rate?  Not sure if there's some way to do this via SSH and editing, still waiting for them to provide me the root password so I can take a closer look.

Still, they delivered a miner as promised, it's a 40 chip design like the earlier dragon units, and there's at least the potential for overclocking.  Unfortunately I don't have a more powerful PSU around to test this with, and even if I did it appears that there's a lot of custom wiring going on with this PSU, maybe I'll hotwire another PSU to a couple of boards and see what we can get when I have time.

Well I'll be, I actually got it working after a lot of frustration.  Half the cables were loose from shipping from China and these machines come set with a static IP of 192.168.0.107 with a default gateway of 192.168.0.1.  Of course no such gateway existed on my network, and my router wouldn't let me access other subnets so I couldn't even ping the 192.168.0.107 address.  Regardless, got the machine running and got access to it...would not recommend shipping these directly to any data center since in all likelihood most of the cables will be loose from shipping!

It appears that these machines default to mining for colorbit so you really do need to set a new pool asap.
hero member

So it looks like a bunch of plugs got knocked loose during shipping.  One board was disconnected and two of the fans were as well which explains why only one fan was running.  Of course now with all 3 fans plugged in none of them will run?  Wtf?  Still can't figure out how the hell to connect to this.  The boards seem to pass some kind of self check thing (with blinking lights) then go to solid blue LEDs, and the raspberry Pi has the SD card in solidly.  No clue what the problem is exactly...still waiting to hear back from them.

Has anyone received a miner from colorbit? Any review?
So...I finally got my miner from colorbit-it got stuck in customs for 5 days because apparently DHL didn't bother to call me and there was no info with the shipment about what it was made of or whatever, so it took a few days for them to verify that it was a computer, etc. while the unit sat in Ohio.

Still don't have a manual or any instructions on how to set it up which is a bit of a problem...it doesn't appear on any DHCP tables and of the 3 intake fans only 1 is working?  I see blue blinking lights on all 5 "blades" in the unit so it seems like the hardware is legitimate-the controller board seems to have been somewhat loosely installed in the case and I'm not sure what the USB ports are for.  Also no places for a stand-there's screw tops sticking out of the bottom of the unit which is a little bootleg but not a big deal.  The unit is pretty compact compared to the other units I've seen.

Now if I can only get it to work.  They did include a Cat-5 cable, and some sort of 220V power cable (not the normal Chinese plug either, appears to be a high voltage plug) with the unit so if you're running this on 110V you need a different cable.  Still it was nice that they bundled a CAT-5 cable.  Really need better instructions though.

I would buy a unit, but only if using escrow, or having the seller ship first (my reputation on the forums trumps theirs at the moment). if shipping first sounds unreasonable, that is why I suggest escrow Smiley

The price is very attractive but also very suspicious. I checked the 28nm chip prices from bitmine, 40 chips itself = $2800 ~ $3500. If you sell your whole rig for $3250, I could see no profit or a loss even though you copy the design from others and spent $0 on the R&D. There must be some hidden secretes here. Caution: focusing on fact, not the promises.

From what I have gathered these miners have chips which they have acquired from the manufacturer that made the bitmine chips directly, not from bitmine.
That is why you see so many Chinese 1TH miners before Bitmine released theirs.

Simply put, the Chinese are better businessmen.

That being said, if you are planning on ordering do use escrow.
The seller is fine with that.
