If I remember my dead languages, it is specifically the exercise of power over people by people.

Which is essentially the management of resources, at the most fundamental level, because a population cannot remain viable without resources.

What does this have to do with politics?

Everything. Politics is the management of resources and society is built on resources. Free markets (or not so free markets) determine the usage and depletion of resources.

I think a more poignant question would be why you asked such a question.
