I personally have 11 usd asicminers in oil in my garage in the Uk ,they have been there for about 3 months and never get above 22 degree's celsius. Did this to test the theory.

My garage is made of Brick and concrete and is very cold even in summer ,my parents have a solid concrete garage that seems to be cold even in summer .

So my suggestion for larger scale building is scale up what I got .

1) Solid brick/concrete structure .

2) Built in the shade of larger buildings .

3) place harware in mineral oil .

I personally have no oil pumps or fans  ,but if heat does cause issues circulate the oil in copper tubes through a container of cold water and back into the hardware containers control the circulaating pump with a pulse wave modulating controller to maximize cooling .

In the 3 months I have done this my asics and my graphics card for gaming have worked without issue .

Hi, I'm answering here coz I'm not allowed to do that in the actual thread.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4195044

My solution would be something like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eub39NaC4rc

Just put hardware in the oil, no contact with air, no dump no rust. Oil does not conduct current so no short circuit.

Oil also distribute heat on the whole surface of the containing tank, easier to cool down.

Little maintenance.

Only con is that hardware will be permanently oily and hard to clean and resell.

my 2 cents (and hopefully 25 BTC Tongue)

It was for 0.25 BTC and I don't think the original poster will even see this thread to be honest Wink

Probably not, but while oil works well for spreading the heat you still have to cool the hot / warm oil.

Also for a whole datacenter thats a lot of oil and probably not worth it.

This guy here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM9ps-Gp70U
looks like he knows what he is talking about and I dont see any oil anywhere Wink

Also in a big datacenter you usually change the hardware on a regular basis, so an oil setup would complicate that.
