Basically when i type the 12 word phrase, i see please wait message then the box immediately disappears

What do you suggest now?  I would prefer downloading electrum 2.6.4 is probably best option?

Try with electrum 2.6.4 as that is a stable version meanwhile 2.7.0 is out just these last few days so it may have a few glitches yet that the developers maybe unaware of.

If it works on electrum 2.6.4 then it seems that the problem is with the last version of electrum. If it still doesn't work with 2.6.4 then the problem maybe with your laptop and not electrum at all.

i clicked electrum on search bar and it shows then i click on it.  Then it ask me those questions and i clicked on it.

Do you know if i can download electrum 2.6.4 to my laptop?  That way it would be easy for me to restore electrum as i did this earlier with other laptop?

I think it might be the electrum 2.7 that is the issue...

One last question.  Do you think there will be an issue if the password that i use for the encryption to send bitcoin be the same one used previously when i restored electrum on my other computer that uses electrum 2.6.4?  Or that would be no issue?  Or just create a brand new one?
No issue. No such information is shared. It wouldn't even matter if your either wallet was compromised since they use the same seed anyways.

Do you know why this is happening?
Nope. Doesn't happen for me. You're probably hitting some exception somewhere that causes it to crash. You would probably be able to see what the error is if you ran Electrum from the command line.

okay i have an issue with this.  After i typed the 12 word phrase and then not check any of the 2 options below... i then click next.

Electrum then shuts off.  I then click on electrum again.  I did same thing

Clicked on

standard wallet

then

I already have a seed

Input the 12 word phrase, the same thing happens.

Do you know why this is happening?

okay thanks.

So most people don't check the add a paraphrase to the seed right?

Hi achow101.  So you use electrum 2.7 or 2.6.4?
2.7

So basically don't check that right?
You can if you think you will be able to remember the password you encrypted the seed with.

Thus after i input the 12 word phrase and press next, then it would restore my electrum wallet and bitcoin.
Yes

Then it will ask me if i want to put a password to encrypt it after i click next??

Yes

The thing is restoring electrum on 2.7 looks a bit different than 2.6.4 so i just want to make sure first.

That password is not the same as the encryption password for your wallet. It is just an option to encrypt your seed phrase for when you export it so if someone else gets your seed they won't have access to your Bitcoin.

Hey guys can someone here confirm that i have no issue restoring my electrum on a new computer as long as i have the 12 word phrase?

The thing is i read electrum 2.7 is a bit different than 2.6.4 so im not very sure on this.

I have to install electrum on my new computer and when downloading from electrum, it downloads version 2.7 which is new and im not sure exactly the instructions on this.  Can someone tell me

Am i suppose to check Add a passphrase to this seed?

Add a passphrase to this seed

BIP39 seed

I know BIP39 seed doesn't need to be checked as that is something else.  But is add a passphrase to this seed the password that i put on it so i could send bitcoins?  Or its on the next page?

I have to do this asap.  Thanks guys.

My computer went bad.  I then restored by bitcoins on a computer with the 12 word phrase.  I then got a new laptop and want my electrum wallet on it.  The issue though is the first time i restored my electrum wallet with the 12 word phrase on the other computer, it was version 2.6.4 and pretty simple.

This one however is electrum 2.7 and i want to make sure im doing it right.

It says the wallet default wallet does not exist.  What kind of wallet do you want to create?

standard wallet

wallet with two factor authenitation

multi signature wallet

watch bitcoin addresses

I believe this is standard wallet right?

Then it ask do you want to create  a new seed or restore a wallet using existing seed?

Its

I already have a seed right?

Then the next section is where im confused.  It asked for the 12 word phrase

Then it has option to check

Add a passphrase to this seed

BIP39 seed

I know when i restored electrum on my other computer with electrum 2.6.4, i put a password to encrypt my bitcoins?  Im not sure the right term but basically if i want to send bitcoin from my electrum wallet, i want to make sure there is a password to it.  I had always done this.

Is the add a passphrase to this seed that option?  Or it ask you for that the NEXT PAGE?

Im trying to restore my electrum on my new computer asap and would appreciate if anyone who uses electrum 2.7 can confirm this with me.
