Shit, did I leave the stove on?
I am reading this kind of news nowadays with a big grain of salt because last year I think the specialists on Wall Street said bitcoins would be $5000 by the end of the year and whatnot.

Bitcoin is only good for speculation, saddening

With your words put at your post you really (even if not were not possible to see the number of posts made from everyone here at bitcointalk) make everyone who have not mine, but much more less time with bitcoin, to understand that you have not more than 1 or 2 weeks which have heard the word "bitcoin". Maybe from some gambler who make trading for fun or for seems qualified or smart. Because to tell that bitcoin is good only for speculation is like telling that wheat have value only for the straw (which serve to feed the livestock). I know that needed time to learn some things that are not easy to be masticate but that someone with your "age" at bitcointalk, tell these thing about bitcoin like you do, must have a good courage.

I don't want to be a conspiracy nutjob but I must say that whatever reuters says seem to have a special importance, there are some interesting theories that say reuters is one of the groups commanded by TPTB and they tell what's going to happen, in a way. So if the guys on the top of the pyramid are bullish of Bitcoin im pretty sure 2016 will be really interesting.

Nice article another reason to buy more Bitcoins before the price sky rockets.I think this surge in price will be gradually and always we will have time to make place for entrance.Anyways there are many things positive to believe a significant rise will happen in 2016.

I am pumped for 2016!
I think with halving bitcoin will go back over 600 like it was before the drop!

A lot of people think that the halving effect has been incorporated in 2015 itself.
The price rose from $200 to almost $500 on the back of nothing.

But this is not the end yet.
We are very much in the middle of the scene and need to await the sentiments of markets that it is going to throw on us.

I am looking forward to 2016 and what it will do to Bitcoin this is in my opinion the year we get to break new adoption frontiers and perhaps with the halving see a brand new rally, trend wise at Christmas its already at $400 + USD so it will be enjoyable to see how much farther it goes.

Bitcoin is only good for speculation, saddening

No it's not...
There are many reasons people are in it, we are learning something new everyday...
People are giving it value, it's gaining respect as a currency and what else does it need???
About mainstream, now there seems a possibility we might see Bitcoin at prices which one might never would have thought of...

Bitcoin is only good for speculation, saddening

the speculation will drive the adoption in the end when the price will be big enough to increase the stability necessary for the big merchants to adopt with more serenity bitcoin

speculation is the launch pad for adoption, as i see it, also speculation is true on any market, so this argument is moot...

Reuters up to something. It looks suspicious when a big company share ideas about Bitcoin with no reason. I'm skeptical about their thoughts but I know Bitcoin will be better in 2016 than 2015. I don't know about the price but it'll be definitely adopted more by many this year. Slow growth is better than no growth; and it still grows higher than inflation.

Maybe they should ask some people who aren't balls deep in Bitcoin businesses what they think might happen.

I wrote something similar today already in another thread I think.
Daniel Masters is the Ex-husband of our lovely trojan horse Blythe Masters.
While he is pro Bitcoin and pushing it, she is totally with Blockchain only.
Could this different conception of the technology be the reason why these two have "forked"??  Grin Cheesy
Sorry that's a lame one I know. Tongue

EDIT: 2016 will be HUGE for Bitcoin!!

Good to see some mainstream news on bitcoin that isnt negative for a change. Article makes good points and if it does end up being the year i dont think anyone could complain too much. The more news we get like this the better for all to do with bitcoin.

Well everything in this article makes sense, its not rocket science, and its something we've all known for a fairly long time at this point. Its a fundamental part of the Bitcoin economy.

I'm glad they aren't spouting bullshit, though, like I'd expect most other news outlets to be if this news is spread around enough. They have a good sense of how it works, and they aren't being biased with their reports. Its a story written from an investor's perspective; they deal less with the drama and focus on the money.

Good news, maybe we'll see some of an investor resurgence.

Noone can argue with that fundamental economic principle. Yes but it still seems very skeptical just to say it will go 3x-5x or whatever.
I mean if it definitely goes there, everyone would put like %70 of their all money.

So I mean, it seems bullish but just don't be manipulative.

2016 is the year where the biggest bull we've ever seen makes an appearance in Bitcoin. Everything is looking freaking fantastic, and it seems that mainstream media is slowly picking up with what's actually up, I've already seen some mainstream publications questioning private blockchains as something worth anyones money.

Very good. This is an important news. Bitcoin has arrived at Reuters and as a winner. It is speaking about its increase of value regarding the actual one. The readers of Reuters are between the most cultivated and influential people from the all the mos developed countries. If they known bitcoin will feel more interested about it reading the article of Reuters. Who don't know it and will have the first contact with it through Reuters and through such article will have curiosity to know more about it. For sure will have more spread of words and maybe even facts. Someone may want to "taste" "the touch" of this strange currency, decentralized, without owners, without having something behind its "shoulders" and yet with big value which, according to Reuters (yes, Routers) will go bigger during the halving. So maybe will want some bitcoin to have in its digital wallet. If so, the minimum that we will have will be the add of some very influential people in the "ship" led by our "capricious" Dear. Who will help in its increase of value and the known, much more fast.

web versioN: http://www.bitcoinfuturesguide.com/bitcoin-blog/reuters-2016-could-prove-to-be-the-year-that-the-price-of-bitcoin-surges-again

Reuters has come out with a very bullish toned article on bitcoin price: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-global-markets-bitcoin-analysis-idUSKBN0U60GM20151223?feedType=RSS&feedName=businessNews .  For those who don't know: Reuters is one of the most influential news wire services in the world. Along with Associated Press they are major feeders for news stories that papers around the world use for ideas and articles.

It talks about the halvening and uses quotes from different people in the industry, including:

Daniel Masters, co-founder of Jersey-based Global Advisors' multi-million dollar bitcoin hedge fund
Bobby Lee, the chief executive of one of the leading bitcoin exchanges in China, BTCC
Jeremy Millar, partner at London-based financial technology specialists Magister Advisors
Check it out, you may use it as a counter-indicator if you think the media is behind on things, but either way Bitcoin in Reuters, global media wire, is something to watch.
