This is a good review. Do you plan on updating over the next few months as the warm weather
starts again? I'm curious to see how they run during a temp change.

Thank you very much for compliment.

And I would be happy to.  I have them in two different mining areas so should be good comparison.  We just got some snow so still not warm enough to do it yet.

I can say i love the underclock.  I ran full blast till a week ago or so.  But now it made more sense to underclock and get better efficiency.   I also got rid of my S3's to people with less electricity cost.   Lot's of changes going on.

thank you.  You are going the  power higher hash route. you have cold air temps to input  so can you post a photo the asic stats page. looks like this

What's this voltage configuration? can you upload the settings page of your miner. Thank you

sure  here are 2 settings on 2 different machines

and one more on a third machine

I thought you start hosting them ..

It's under 20k watts so not really a hosting center.  Just a extra area for my gear.  Allows a little extra gear during winter Smiley

New mining area? where is that ?

It is a new spot I am starting to put gear in.  This SP20 was first to go in it.   Working perfect.   Have cold ambient air to cool miners, and some electricity capacity I was not using before.

I should have thanked Spondoolies a little more heres what i put in review thread:

I should have done a little more thanks for the chance.  Thank you Guy and the rest of the Spondoolies team. Was a great opportunity to do this and was fun.

I am a decent sized hobby miner.  And have a little of a wide variety of miners (A1 and newer gear at this point).   Not only has the SP20 hardware won me over, but the support of Spondoolies team did aswell.

The equipment it is just very well thought out.   For one it just works, I have 2 SP20's and had no issues with them.  From someone who had been dealing elsewhere with dead water pumps on miners, and another buying a controller board.  I cannot explain how much just working is a breath of fresh air.

I won't go on a long rant.  Just thank you Spondoolies and I look forward to future purchases from you.

Also weather did not get as cold as I was hoping hopefully this week I can show it working in freezing cold air.

you have some overhead based on that photo

the asic chips are all under 115c  good

volts 1  0.73      could be 0.735
volts 2
volts 3  0.73      could be 0.735
volts 4

max volts  0.76   could be 0.765

your watts should be 288 288 288 288

not 1350  that number is wrong you used a full total.  no way 1 jack can do that much

you are pulling 280 watts 275 watts 286 watts 283 watts

Sure I have not went to crazy.  It been running mostly high 1.6T.   It keeps getting colder here I'm hoping to be able to show it run even colder.  Tonight it should be in freezing weather (assuming weather is right).

SP20 - Review

0) General information + Hardware Needed
1) Unpacking
2) The Miner
3) Install
4) Conclusion

0) General Information + Hardware Needed
This miner is an little machine that packs a punch.  With it's long sleek design and use of the Spondoolies-Tech RockerBox ASICs you have a miner with a lot of potential.  It could be arguably the miner with the most versatility.  Let it use it's power and be able to be pushed to speeds of up to 1.7T or under clock that same machine to 700-800 watts and get over 1.2T! (Credit to philipma1957 on under clock info - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9843564 )

Hardware needed in addition to SP20 miner.

  • Standard power supply with 4 PCI-E 6 Pin adapters (Suggested 1200 watts or bigger)(*With it's amazing under clock some are using a good amount smaller)
  • Computer to set initial pool and configuration settings
  • Network cables - 1 network cable to go to your network

1) Unpacking
I was very impressed with the shipping.  It made it to the United States in around three day’s of shipping.   The box shown below was made to take a beating.  The SP20 is packed with cardboard stratigaclly placed to keep it from ever being touched in shipping.

2) The Miner
Below are images to showcase the miner.

3) Install
The install is very easy.  You will need to install the 4 PCI-e cables to a proper power supply for your settings.  I am using a lightning 1300 in the case of this install. Next use that network cable to connect your miner to your network. You will receive a miner with DHCP enabled allowing it to connect to your network no matter what IP address range you use.

They also have a very nice feature with the following web address it shows the Spondoolies gear on your network - www.myminer.io .  This is shown below it is a very nice feature if you are not using static IP's.

4) Conclusion
The SP20 was the perfect miner to put in my new mining area.  It is very cold and the miner endures single digit Celsius readings.  I am able to run at the around high 1.6 – 1.7T. It ran perfect in the cold and I had no issues with temperature. Noise was not a issue with my mining area.  The duct fan was actually louder then the SP20 but it is not something that you will be mining with in your living room (unless underclocked and fan is turned down).

I cannot stress the asset of its versatile over and under clocking.  Right now with the crazy mining prices I am much more worried about getting the higher end of the miners ability.  With decent priced electricity I can worry about hash rate alone.  In a few months I will be worried about efficiency and will be using the great under clocking ability.

I want to thank Spondoolies for a great product.  I am happy to try to answer questions if you have some.  With wanting high hashrate and operating in the cold hopefully this review will have a slightly different view.  I was lucky enough to meet Spondoolies in The North American Bitcoin Conference in Chicago.  I can say they are just as pleasant to talk to in person as they treat customers online.
