The reason I asked my first question was because I was afraid I would destroy my miner by changing the PLL.

I redused the PLL and the miner got a lot cooler, and I was able to do some more digging before it shutted down.

In the interface I noticed one of the fans had a really low RPM, and after dissasembling it, I noticed the fan did not work at all.
The fan on the PSU doesnt work either 

The provider of this miner told me it had been running for 2 months, but I have a feeling it has been used for a long time. Is there any way I can check for how many hours the miner has been running in total?

Im ny interface I can choose different values for PLL.
Is there other settings I can use to reduse the heat (underclock)

I never tried this, so unfortunately I don't know for sure.
The graphic user interface doesn't support it.

I'm rather new to this.

Earlier I had my miner at a "company" who did everything for me, but after a bad year they decided to return the miner to me.

Here at my place the miner seems to get too hot, and it shuts down after a few minutes. The PLL is set to 750 - is it possible to reduce this to get a lower temperature?

Ebit products absolutely SUCK.  Damn thing died first week.. had to spend $200 to send the controller board back and have them send it back to me without any result.  Never connected to the internet.  Support sucks, product sucks, communication sucks.. and they have no common sense to hire someone to translate their own documentation for install into languages of countries they sell the product.  Complete waste of over a grand.

I received a good question via PM about a replacement cooling fan,
and I thought I share that information also in this thread.



So you need to modify the fan cable yourself to have a JST XH connector installed in the new replacement fan.

Here is also a list of replacement cooling fans compatible with the Ebit E9+ miner:

Yes, I undertake the risk and am prepared that the miner will be bricked due to over-heating.

It is a piece of door-stopper / paper-weight, as most of us affectionately refer to, anyway.

As a common notice I just say that those Enermax fans are not providing enough cooling in most situations.

One last question - what is the most ideal specs for these fans to be quiet like less than 30Db? For eg. DC12V and 1.6A? about 3000+ RPM?

I would not recommend it,
but if you really want to try to go that road,
I would recommend getting two of these: Enermax D.F. Storm (max. 3500rpm - 155CFM)

So I have a dead hashboard. I did the logical thing. I dismantled the E9+ and switched boards, switched power connectors and data cables to the board.

Still the same, the conclusion is a dead board.

I took out the dead one, and moved the remaining 2 boards into this position - board 1 -->empty space --> board 2.

And I remove the intake fan and just run the miner with the output fan. To my pleasure, its is now running at 6plus TH/s and alot quieter. Temp of the two working boards is constantly at about 65 degrees C.

Now I'm thinking to get 2 lower RPM fans for both push and pull, and replace the current miner's fan. Probably like 1000-3000 RPM, maybe?

Any recommendation pls? Need the model number preferably.

From what I know, shipping via DHL won't be much different, as it will still need to go through customs. I may be wrong though...

If Ebang will accept a miner in several pieces, you can probably send the boards separately and hope the customs will not be interested to know what is inside. Though, I suspect Ebang will not agree to get their product back in several (different) shipments...

Have you tried to look for a local repair shop? I don't know what issues you had with your miners, but a good electronics engineer could probably do some basic checks and (with some luck, indeed) may be able to recover some of the hashing power.
Still better than smashing and burning the machines, IMO...

I'm having same kind of experience as you do.

I have three E9+ machines that are not working at all.

I sent them to Ebang after we did a troubleshooting session with Lynn from Ebang.

I sent them using Finnish postal service Posti and their EMS (express mail service) service.

The shipment arrived in China very fast, but..
the three machines have now been stuck in Kunming customs for about two months.

And when I was finally able to contact Kunming customs, they told me that only a company can send such goods to China. 

And that the shipment would need to be shipped back here in Finland.

Then I made an official request via Posti to ask my shipment back from China. No replies yet after few emails..

I asked Lynn what a hell should I do as I don't have a company or a commercial name. She suggested that I should use DHL.

I said her that DHL is freaking expensive here in Finland and it would cost me about 500EUR to ship three machines to China.

She has not made a single effort after that to further help me on this issue.

This is the worst aftersale support ever.

Do not buy Ebang miners.

I've lost so much money with trying mining with Ebit hardware.

I will most likely smash and burn those faulty machines when/if the shipment returns to me.

I had quite an unpleasant experience with Ebang after-sales service.

I contacted them during late Feb because of a faulty hashboard. Was told to ship it back to them for trouble-shooting and replacement (which I hope). Wasn't really clear on that.

Sent the E9+ with DHL to Ebang on 2nd March, and 11 days later today, the miner is still in China custom.

First was the documentation the Chinese Custom requires, Ebang refused to submit them. I wechat-ed the relevant dept and was told to fill-in some excel forms for export declaration (which I think was not relevant because it should importing, not exporting).

True enough, the docs were rejected and I bulldozed the poor chap to contact DHL China. They gave in and did as I said.

Today, the same ebang chap contacted me via wechat again, asking me to call him on his office line, which I did.

To my surprise, I am told to pay for the custom import tax. After some time on the phone reasoning with him, I relented and agreed to pay. When asked who should I contact to make payment, he said he doesn't know and ask me to wait for DHL China/China Custom/DHL Singapore to contact me for further instructions.

Well, I am lost for words now. Totally unexpected, and have absolutely no idea how long this is going to drag on.

I am mentally prepared to have the E9+ ship back to me and I take it as a lesson learnt.

Further to this technical problem I am having with my E9+ :-

I contacted Ebang Tech support in China (via Wechat), and after much trouble-shooting over wechat, we concluded that The Miner Board 1 is faulty.

I am arranging for DHL to ship the miner back to Ebang for warranty repair.

Hi need help!

After 2 weeks of not switching on my E9+ miner, I got it running 10 hours ago, and noticed that the hash rate dropped from the usual 9+ TH/s to current 6TH/s.

The Ebit software shows :
Board1 temp(°): 32
Board2 temp(°): 69
Board3 temp(°): 68

Naturally I suspect the board 1 is not running as per normal. I checked the miner and peeped inside, all the boards LED lights are flashing and everything looks normal.

I tried connecting to Kano pool & slushpool, both pools show that I'm getting about 6TH/s hash power.

Any advise please?

Mine was at 750 PLL, 9~9.5TH/s, temp 68~72 degrees C.

Maybe you can try setting the PLL to 750...

mine  at 600M    7.5TH/s  58°C..  is that normal ?

Green led is miner activity.

Red led is error / fault.

You should contact Ebang, troubleshoot the miner with their help and see if you need a RMA process for the miner.

I got this from HagssFIN on another thread, dl the ebit mini from the ebang site as he described,  get the miner ip. Change your computer ip to the same domain as the miner, Google how if you don't know. Now you can log into the miner. Enable dhcp. Then reboot the miner. Reset your computer ip to the way it was. Reboot. The miner should now have an ip in the same domain as your router,  and you should be able to see it in the web browser and your router homepage. Use the ebit mini again if you need to for the new ip.

HagssFIN I have a couple questions if you come by, what lights are on the hashboards inside? I have 3 boards, green lights on the 2 outside boards, the center board has a flashing red light. Not the controller,  the boards themselves inside. Peek in through the fan. I don't know if that's normal but I am starting to suspect I bought a used one with a bad hashboard. I saw it drop a few times and come back on its own.  I asked on the other thread but it's old and long. Do you think I have a bad board? If so any idea where I can buy a replacement? I'm averaging. 0011 btc/day which seems about right I think... I'm totally new to this.

70 Celsius temp area is somewhat ok, but if it reaches up to >80C, I would be a little worried.

Doesn't seem like a healthy temp to me. If it got hotter then normal in your apartment it could go up to a bad range easily. I wouldn't trust it. Maybe if that was the hottest it ever got on the hottest day of the summer, but still not good for the lifespan of the miner. Mine runs at 43.

I have a question regarding the E9+ and I hope to get some help : -

I made a sound-proofing container (plastic) with egg cartons inlaid. And i also ran a 5 metres air duct hose (5 inches) from the container into my bathroom for hot air ventilation.

The noise reduced from 80+db to 72 db so it helps a bit.

But the temperature increased from 56 degrees Celsius to 72 d.celsius, after running for 2 hours and holding steady.

Can you advise whether the temp is okay for the miner?

Yeah, they're a good miner. I got mine Oct 5th new off of Amazon, and I've had to restart it maybe 4-5 times in that time, and more then half of those restarts were because the web interface wasn't opening for me, but it was still mining away. I don't have the fanciest of equipment, but it's the most stable miner in my flock anyways.

Glad to report I've been up and hashing for 18 hours now. Averaging 9.37 TH/s with peaks a little over 10

I use an EVGA Titanium 1600W power supply and I get the full hashrate over 110.

Dual PSUs already stocked and ready to go!

Get a cord!  
Save downtime.
It will run at 1200w/110 but to get full capacity 1600w you need 220v or dual psus as described elsewhere in the forums.

According to DHL tracking my Ebit E9+ arrives Tuesday!

Thanks Hagssmeister, nice review. Looks like "Ebit" is starting to get their stuff together, but still pretty long way off from top competitors. Somehow the company and the products fails to inspire me from communication, spec, delivery, price etc point of view.

So far I am more impressed with Canaan and their roadmap and strategy for new products. Let's see if they can pull it off.

1) General information, other items needed
Ebit E9 Plus is a Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner using 14nm ASIC chip technology, manufactured by Zhejiang Ebang Communication Co., Ltd (headquarters in Hangzhou, China).

Ebit E9 Plus is a standalone miner with a built-in controller and you don't need a separate controller, like Raspberry Pi for example to run it.

The miner weights 4.7 kg and outer dimensions are 290mm (L) x 126mm (W) x 155mm (H).
The advertised nominal hashrate is 9.0 Th/s with a nominal power consumption of 1305 Watts
(advertised as 145W per Th/s at the Ebit E9 Plus product page).

Technical specifications:

Other items needed:
-A server grade power supply with at least 10x PCI-E 6-pin connectors, everyone with a dedicated cable, at least 18AWG wires.
I used the APW3++ 1600W power supply (manufacturer: Bitmain) to power my miner.
I recommend a 1600W power capacity server psu or customs psu for this miner.
Ebang Communication also has their own custom psu available for sale at their webshop.
-C13 power cord suitable to your country's electrical socket
-Ethernet cable to go to your router/switch
-Computer to set initial pool and configuration settings.

2) Unpacking
The miner was packed well in a sturdy protecting foam and inside a plastic bag

This is pretty much a market standard solution today, and offers a very good possibility for the hardware to ship safe and sound to the destination address.

3) Overview

4) Install
The installation was pretty much as it usually is with ASIC mining hardware.

You need to connect the Ethernet cable to your miner and the other end to the router or switch device.

And then you need a high power server grade power supply. Install all ten pieces PCI-E 6-pin power cables to the power headers found at the top side of the miner. One for the controller and nine pieces for hash boards.

I personally found the easiest way to find out the miner ip address was to install their tool called "EbiteMinerMini".
It should show you the Ebit miner ip address even if it would end up in a different subnet than your computer and other devices.
Download link for the tool is available at their website Support -section http://miner.ebang.com.cn/

When you download it and open the archive, you're gonna notice there are three files.
Install the latest version of .NET Framework from Microsoft website or use the one included in this archive.
Install the WinPcap software. It is a library used to capture live network data on Windows.
Then extract the .7z archive. There is no need to run installation wizard, you can use the EbiteMinerMini tool right away.

Now this next part was a bit tricky. The default language was Chinese, but as I can't speak any Chinese I of course started to look if I can change it to English.

I was able to do this by going into a folder called 'language'.
Then enter into the 'en' folder.
Then I moved the 'StringResource.xml' file to the main folder location, where also the 'EbiteMinerMini.exe' file is located.

After that the tool started with a English GUI.

Knowing the miner IP address makes the next miner configuration part possible,
so you can find the web configuration page.

You can also do the whole setup process with the EbiteMinerMini tool if you want to.
Network settings configuration, pool settings configuration, fan settings, frequency settings, miner statistics etc. are available.

5) Configuration
First you need to go the miner IP address with your web browser.
Then you login to the configuration page.
Username is admin and the password is admin by default.
Before logging in, you can choose the graphic user interface language (Chinese or English).

Now it is time to setup mining pool settings.
Click 'Cgminer' and then go to 'Config.

You can put the pool address, username and password for three pools in a priority order from 1 to 3.

After you have ready with the settings, press 'Set'.

Then you also have to click 'Miner Effect'.

This applies the settings and also reboots the miner.
You won't be able to access the web configuration page until the miner has rebooted itself.

6) Testing
After all the settings were made properly, it was time to test and see how it starts running.
The hash board frequency setting was the default value 750 MHz.
The hash rate was around 9.1 - 9.2 Th/s area, so the hash rate was just as advertised.

Then moving on to see what is the power consumption (at wall).

7) Power consumption measurement
The power measurement was done with Perel E305EM6-G energy meter.

Stable result for the power consumption (at wall) was 1442 W,
when the hash rate was around 9.1 - 9.2 Th/s.

The power supply used in this power consumption test was: Bitmain APW3++ 1600W power supply.

8] Conclusion
Ebit E9 Plus is another competitor to the Bitcoin mining hardware market,
to challenge Bitmain's monopoly position.

The power efficiency is slightly worse than the S9, but the Ebit E9 Plus miner is about
in the same power efficiency category as the AvalonMiner 741 miner.

The miner performed just as advertised, I got 9.1 - 9.2 Th/s hash rate
and the advertised nominal rate is 9.0 Th/s.

All in all, this might not be the easiest miner to do the configuration for,
but once you get to know how things work it is pretty straight forward.
I would recommend having a advanced knowledge on the Bitcoin mining hardware before buying this device.

Cooling design is done very well and the miner didn't get too warm, reaching about 50℃ region at max.
This is a very loud miner as most of the modern industrial gradeASIC miners are,
you don't want this in your apartment without a soundproof cabinet solution.

I like that there is competition in the Bitcoin ASIC miner market
and it was nice to have one new miner again to have a look at.
