The OP better be told that the rich people in this world are the risk takers and they have succeeded with the risks they bore and that is why they have become wealthy.

Not at all. You’d be better told that the risks rich people take are completely different from playing in the casino, like starting a business or buying shares or a new company.

No wealthy guy became rich in a casino, except for poker players, they got rich taking other risks.

It seems a lot of people just prefer reading the topic or taking a quick glance at the post and commenting without making an attempt to read the OP fully. Simply put, the OP only needed you to get the idea of how rich people perceive gambling which he mentioned the title an overstatement, not like he said, rich people do not gamble at all. Oh sorry, I forgot, you would not know since you did not read it.

Everything the OP has said is the truth. Rich people do not come to casinos to play game for the winnings, they do so to have some good fun in their own way. I cannot say if they do not end up playing game of chance or not though, but even if they do, they are not playing just to see how their luck can get them richer, but they do so just to while away some time, which is something the poor man can never do.

Take a look at the statistics of the poor men who gamble, they are doing it to see if they can get lucky to see how their life can turn around for good by becoming rich with their activities. You would not blame them, as that would generally be the common mindset of any poor man.

I totally agree, and due to what I've highlighted in bold I'm going to lock the thread, as I don't want it to turn into another spam megathread.

I disagree with the statement, rich people do gamble most of the people in the casino is rich people that looking way to release stress and some even are addicted gambler, but lottery is not going to be played by the rich, because they don't find any excitement in lottery and the chances of winning is small, in the other hand the poor hoping that by buying lottery he can win it and out from poverty, the poor choose the lottery because its cheap and the prize is huge

No rich people also gamble for fun and entertainment purpose. But those wise and smarter knows how to be responsible for not loosing all their money, but there are some rich that become poor because of undiscipline to manage their money well. All of us gamble either poor or rich but we need to control our self in being addicted on it.
People never get satisfaction with the money they have, therefore i think rich people also play gambling for making more and more money, playing gambling for fun only i do not think that it is a wise decision because there are so many other free ways of getting fun and enjoyment then why should we put our money in risk.

Rich people also do gamble because they want to attain more money for their own satisfaction not only to entertain themselves. Many rich people who are addicted into gambling has a high tendency of becoming poor and suffer from debts if the person cant control his emotion on playing gambling.

Gambling is a very easy way to spend all your money regardless of whether your rich or poor. So rich guys will initially go for higher bets and once they start losing money slowly reduce their bet amount until they become poor if they don't know when to stop gambling. There are many people who gamble only for pleasure will know when to stop this game to reduce their losses.

Rich people do gamble for it also their ways to feel relax and enjoy their selves. Most people who gamble in casinos are really rich which are millionaires they are not there for chasing profits but to spend their time to have fun not like ordinary people who go there hoping to get jackpot and sometimes ended their day losing what they had.
There's also some incedent that rich people also seek for money not just only for relaxation, most of them are looking only for social activities and
to have some relaxations but there's also some of them who cater this activity to add more money inside their pockets, we heard about game fixing
and to deal with that a lots of money is needed, that can't be done by an ordinary gambler, rich gambler can deal with that.

Actually, the title of this post is an overstatement, but it helps you to get the idea. Rich people play fewer games of chance than poor people, and they risk a lower percentage of their income.

This article talks about it but only focused on the lottery, although I believe it can be applied to gambling in general:

https://edition.cnn.com/2013/12/18/opinion/lottery-poor-just-opinion/index.html

Why do you think this happens?

I suppose it is because people with a rich person’s mindset think mostly about buying assets with their money whereas people with a poor person’s mindset only think about spending their money, and the only way they can think of becoming wealthy is by hitting the jackpot.

Its actually the poor who bank all their hopes on lottery because they hope that they can change their lives by winning some money to solve their problems. The rich who have no problems related with money are going to just gamble for fun only and winning money is their additional reward.
Yeah in this case we can say there are some people who gamble for fun and entertainment purpose. Because they don’t need any other money. They think this as a chance. If they win, it is a bonus and if they lose, they don’t even think about it. But as you have said, it is the poor who want to get maximum out of his little investment in gambling. There are much goals attached while they are gambling.

Not all rich people are didn't go to gamble some of them are in gamble just like what in casino mostly are a millionaire or billionaire are there that willing to gambled a huge of their money.
Then I saw also most rich people they do first their assets and liabilities for the interest, gambling for them are wasting time and money, poor people have become poorer and the rich people much richer.
True. But the majority of the rich people will stay away from gamble because I'm sure its waste of money, the rich will prefer to buy things that appreciated.

The thread title is very bold, but it does not close the possibility the rich will play gamble because I'm sure there a special excitement when they gamble.
Being rich by means of hard work or investment ventures then most of the time those rich person would really value their money not compared to those people who just inherited their wealth came from to their parents or into another relatives on which if hes already a gambler since then he had given a chance on being rich then for sure playing gambling would always be a choice since those money being gained not came from hardwork which spending them wont really be a bothersome.
True,  in casinos most of the people who go there are the rich ones.  For them playing gambling  is a leisure already. They won't worry much because they are there for  fun and not for profit . Its true than a hard-earned money is hard to spend,  spending it for unimportant things will be like wasting the time and effort spent on earning it.

The OP better be told that the rich people in this world are the risk takers and they have succeeded with the risks they bore and that is why they have become wealthy. Casinos are made  for the rich they are the minority and in as much as the low income earners for the majority of gamblers the rich also play when it matters most and they often win the big prizes.

Maybe the game selection differs from the poor and rich according to his economic status but all the people are gambling here to make more money. But mostly the rich people do gambling as a fun purpose but the poor's are doing it as a money earning job that is the difference between both.
Mostly, gamblers consider gambling as a way of earning money but some play for fun purpose too. Gambling is just a ridiculous game and it can never make anyone rich. It is also not a poor people’s game because in order to place a bet, money is required. In casinos, either mediocre or rich people are found. No matter whoever is gambling, the thing is he will lose money anyway and the capital will decrease. The end results remain same regardless of one’s financial status.

My opinion is that gambling isn't so bad if you spend only small amount of money on it. If you let your emotions control your actions then you can end up spending more then intended. Some people gamble even money that was originally intended for living expenses.

Yea maybe...
But I feel like even if I'm very rich, I would still gamble. This probably would be just for fun.
Since I wouldn't care if I lose but will be happy if I win. Of course not, If I bet more than I can afford to lose even then.

I think this article can't be extended to other gambling games at all!

Why do you play the lottery? To win the jackpot and be good with all your money problems. You never play lottery for the thrills because when you play it you know you'll lose 99.9999% of the time. It's not a fun game it's a dumb game to earn a lot.
Other games are completely different, when you play poker, cards, roulette or dice it's for the thrills. The winning streak, coming back after a huge loss...
When you play those games you don't aim to become rich, you aim winning and becoming slightly richer than before.

So you really can't compare lottery to any other gambling game in my opinion!

Well you have some point but there are people who plays gambling just for thrill or fun, that are the people who have too much money and doesn't know where to spend it anymore, that is why they are taking the risk in gambling, it doesn't matter if they lose or not just to have some pastime.

I've had the same thoughts. Winning the lottery has a 0.13549375203% chance for you to win and there's not much of a thrill in that. Most of the poorer people choose to play the lottery because there's a one in a million  chance for them to win and it's an instant solution to their financial problems.

In fact, I think that the rich gamble more because they have the capacity to and they can waste their money. You would need resources to get into a casino or just play poker even. Some of the rich even gamble merely for entertainment.

They do but they bet only on how much they afford to loss.
Let's take a look on Dan Bilzerian that keep playing poker although he already rich.
Maybe most rich people don't but some of them keep gambling because it's become their nature !

I think that rich people not that they don't gamble they don't play specific games, they don't play normal online gambling games like dice or sports betting, because they go to real life casinos where they can actually interact with other people and drink some expensive wine and talk about business , the only reason why we see more poor or average people using online gambling and playing these luck games is because they don't have as much money to go to real casinos,

why would they need to go to casinos if they only want to talk about business? I think casino is inapropriate place to talk. The main reason why they go to casinos is because they play gambling.  Yes rich people also gamble because they have lots of money and they dont even care if ever they won or loose. They only play gambling in order to releieve stress and also to past the time. going to casinos can also give them a cool feeling because many other rich people do also go to casino.

I'm placing this quote from the article which I find very convincing:

Quote
One study finds that recent lottery winners have lower levels of happiness than do those who have recently become quadriplegic.

I think this words should be written on every lottery billboard as well as "Smoking kills" on every pack of cigarettes.

LOL! In spite of having read the article, I didn’t pay attention to that final sentence.

I, simply, don’t believe it. I would like to see the sample and the conditions of that study to assess the reliability, but I think if many such studies are carried out, others are going to show the opposite.

The only way I think that makes sense it is because make lottery winners are more worried about their money getting stolen or something, and those who have become quadriplegic are grateful to be still alive. But I think in 90%+ of the cases it is going to be the opposite.

Not only that but also they are frustrated because their inflated expectations about what millions of dollars can do turn sour. I think that's the main reason of their  lower levels of happiness. Poor people think they are unhappy because they are poor. But when after becoming rich they are still unhappy that's really frustrating. I absolutely believe the findings of the study are legit, because several of my classmates have become rich but none of them is happy. When we meet they like to think back to the times when they weren't rich but "Those were the days!". That's true and that's why it is pointless to buy lottery tickets because you lose in any case.

Rich people do gamble too but their mindset in gambling in casino and gambling in business or investment have different objectives but both do gambling on what they can afford to lose. Rich people gamble in casino is for recreation and past time only they can afford to lose but never risk to win back that might end up of losing more. Rich people gamble in business or investment are a serious gamble still they can afford but will find a strategy to win back seriously.

In my opinion, gambling is a form of entertainment that can be enjoy by every one if you play within your limits, I believe there are definitely rich people who are playing their favorite games in the casino too, it is a recreational activity for them after work to relax their mind.
Exactly.I know some rich people go to gambling sites just for fun and make theirselves entertained.Yes its their way of making theirselves unwind from all those stressful activities in the real world. While poor people consider gambling as their source of income, rich people do gambling when they think they have gained already excess money out from their profits being gained.

Rich people do not play gambling, because this is not true, because rich people are gambling, but their impact is very low in society, because they own a lot of money and they spend a little money on their money, but they do not have too much speculation,
Their gambling play has a great effect on society, I do not think so, and poor people's gambling has a great effect on the society because they play their full money-mentality with the main money of their income, So that if they are harmed then they are harmed by the family and their gambling. The game has too much impact on the society,

Last but not least, they want to tell the rich people and gambling but their effects are very less due to their huge amount, and if poor people play gambling, their effects are very much because their money is very low,

Yes actually that's statement is true. Many of my friends stop from gambling so their life is change and more rich.
When they do gambling, they lost many and family is broken. Many people play gambling can't control the emotional, that will effects to lose many.
Gambling much impact on the society, so need to stop do gambling.

Was hard to understand your sentences but from what I understood is that the effect of gambling to a rich or poor person is different in that the impact of the money lost or gained with the rich or poor person is indeed different. But it really depends on how much each person bets. If the rich person bets 100% of his money and the poor one just bets 10%, in case both loses the bet then the rich person will be in a really bad situation. The status is irrelevant. What matters is how much each bets.

I totally agree. Poor people mentality is to really hit that one time jackpot that will change their lives for the better. While the rich one, doesn't want to gamble but instead used their money to make a lot of money. That's why poor people remain poor and rich people becoming wealthier.

And the only time you will see rich people gamble is to have some fun but I don't think that they are willing to gamble so much money which they earn thru hard work.
I guess it's true. The only difference is that poor people tend to gamble as a means for their living so they are risking more money hoping that it will double or triple their money in an instant. And when they lose, they become more poorer instead. While rich people gamble for fun and enjoyment purposes. They may gamble but not with a high risk since they only gamble for a short hour and then leave.Whether they win or lose,it's not so important atleast they enjoyed. They have lots of resources for income so they will never get depressed with what they lose. After all its just a coins for them.

The idea of rich people does not gamble does not bode well as if you check out google you will find the biggest losers in casinos are rich people who gamble with their money amounting to millions at a given time, there are obsessive gamblers who cannot stop the habit from UFC president Dana White to the president Donald Trump are massive gamblers. Well I'm not so sure that rich people gamble less than poor people, but saying that they use a smaller percentage for gambling than poor people is perfectly understandable in my opinion. They would have to gamble huge amounts of cash in order to reach the same % of poor people, simply because they have a lot of money. If a very rich guy spends $100 or $1000 in a game, that's nothing compared to what he has. And if someone poor spends as little as $1 or $10, that is way more in %, compared to the rich guy.

There is of course the appealing for poor people to have a chance to change their lives with gambling (specially those playing lotteries etc). I think that rich people simply don't play those kinds of games, because they don't see the appeal.

indeed the lotteries are dominate by poor people because they expect hit the jackpot and being rich people but beside that i think rich people still gambling but the different is they only pick the particular games to satisfied their hobbies and possibly rich people gamble only for fun and because they already rich then they does not care if they lost and back to gamble for the next day
Poor people gamble to become rich but rich people gamble for what?? They rich already so they are looking for another excuse , usually it's for the priceless satisfaction. But there also some people who never feel enough collecting money so rich people could still gamble to become more rich which it's never ending purpose. So yeah that's my opinion.

Absolutely true fact, everybody seeking that satisfaction does gambles. Rich and Poor is not the reason, different reason for different class of people. But mostly they play card games, Poker, BlackJack and also many bets on sports of any form. In many Casinos I noticed some private tables and by there looks it was pretty clear they are rich. And also there were people who was of middle class. Poor people doesn't really visits Casinos generally, I never seen them there. But they does surely gambles and mostly who gets addicted gambles more than the rich.
Most of the time on where majority of people who do go inside of a casino would really be rich since there would be no middle or low class level would really go into that place since they do value their money and instead of spending it to casinos which they do know that most of the time they would really lose up those amounts which isnt really worth of to play. You would really able to feel or see rich people on that place. Gambling doesnt really have a requirement when it comes to financial status. The thing here is that they do really differ on views when it comes to gambling.

Since they are rich already they does not worry about the money that loosing the game. I personally takes that gambling is the shit way to invest and looking for profit. Millions in one person only have the luck all the time to find the profit dude.

They does not comes to make the money. To make the time pass they are coming into gambling investing such as betting, slot roll and poker room.

Rich people do this gambling for the fun and they ave free time and money so they can gamble better than poor people while people have no money they can not afford gambling so for me gambling is good while those who are expert in the gambling they don't fear about  the betting and games they also bet on racing horse games and many other games so for me now this is a good opportunity to use online money for online casinos and many other activities

Well you can say that the poor person's mindset tells them to go for the goal of winning the jackpot because they using talk themselves into saying
"I got nothing more to lose!" Grin
While the rich people didn't get that way by accident and do not usually take that mistake in taking on too much risk where it will bankrupt them.
I am not saying it has not happened but it rarely happens to these sort of people.
Actually, some of the rich make gambling as only entertainment while some poor make this as source of income. But some of them are lose what they have.

Well the article focus on lottery, so it makes sense that you have a larger % of poor people playing the lottery than rich people. The lottery is like a dream to be rich, and there are more poor people than rich people in the world - 1%. So you have 99% trying to be part of that 1% group so statistically more poor people play the lottery. For the other types of gambling mostly mid-up scale, casinos, horse racing etc. It is a matter of entertainment for the rich and nothing else. They don't need the money.

This is a great article. The stats it presents I was never aware of. It says that the average yearly per capita spending on lottery tickets in Massachusetts is nearly $800. Which means, considering that not every child or adult buys the tickets, that more than $2,000 on average is spent every year by a gambler on the lotteries. This is a big money especially for the poor, who, according to the article, constitute a majority of the gamblers. It is sad actually that the poor people become even poorer following the false hope.

I'm placing this quote from the article which I find very convincing:

Fifty fifty i think, because i think rich people will focus more on their business to get more money and the rest rich people who already so much money don't know how to spend it so they go to gambling. I believe rich people also gambling but they gambling is just for fun, for entertain themselves not for making easy money.

agree with you, although they like to play gambling, they know that they don't spend too much because they still want to produce more money from their business. once rich people play gambling, they can make a big bet in the table but they don't chase the winning money but they only want to enjoy the games.
But however that depends on the personality of each the rich people, the rich or the poor people., it will have a different response to gambling with the purpose their has. Sometimes the rich people due they feel more addict, they can't stay away from gambling and continue to spend money with the purpose of doubling their money without realizing how much money they spending out.
And I think., in gambling, it's more rich people who are closer to gambling than poor people.

May I know what's your basis for this? I know some people who are rich but they still gamble, they gamble because they don't know where to waste their money and gambling is the best way to waste while having fun. Just think logically, why poor people will gamble more when the fact that they don't have lots of money? It's just crazy to think tho.

Actually that is partly true. Two reasons why I believe so. First is that rich people don't really need the money they expect to win from their bets since they are already rich, unlike poor people that wants to get rich quick. Second, the amount of money they bet is for sure far larger than someone poor even if the poor person bets 100% of his money since for example if the poor person has $1,000 to bet and the rich person bets 1% of his $10,000,000 then he bets $10,000.

who is often misunderstood about gambling is the notion that one should not give up fast in gambling. If you lose once, you have to keep playing because who knows the next round we're lucky. This is clearly a wrong understanding. Although your chances of winning are wide open, it is still possible that you will lose again as much.

The mindset that I'm getting from these rich people is that they don't need to put their money into high risk high reward gambling session to earn more money but to put it in a very conservative investment that will provide low-risk and steady flow of money. And that , I think, is certainly why they are gradually becoming richer day by day. They have less chance to lose their money but have a higher percentage to earn some (from their low-risk ventures).

They like to play it safely and guard their money from potential losses. They almost always want to have steady profit generating businesses rather than gambling and putting it entirely on luck. They think in a very logical way and will not welcome any additional risk that could ruin their financial roadmap. That's how they think and people in average should follow it.

I think you just don't know about many rich gamblers so you will accuse that gambling won't bring you the wealth ? Of course it's hard but it's possible to do.

Rich people have so much money that what they will do with those money, so infact they do gamble and with big money. Even if they lose it does not matter much to them and they do have a casino party etc where they call their friends and enjoy with them.

True, what do you think the people to the casino? I think all people in that place is rich. The gambling is one problem of our society and one involved is the millionare. It is true, because even they are rich they want to entertain their self.

Even they're  busy to their business they a lot time to relax and take out the stress.

Op is talking about mindset, its not the same when you are rich and not in many things, gambling is just one of them. Mindset of a rich people? Rich people go to casino and they enjoy in playing they favorite games, because they are rich they can risk more and enjoy more in excitement from gambling, weather they win or lose they had great time and that's count. Poor people mindset? Simple they go to casino with last money, borrowed money and they strongly believe its their night. They don't know much about a games, they don't know odds, they just wish a big win, and when that doesn't happen they fall into despair.
Rich people don't gamble, they are playing games for fun and there is some money involved for extra excitement.

Each person mindset is different, don't say a rich people can play only for entertainment and poor people will play for making money. there are many poor plays for time pass but they will not go to casinos they will play in hidden gambling place or with friends. but a rich people have money so they will go casino and play their fav games. but one thing is common in every gambler all play for money.

Rich people gamble more than you think, they practically bet on anything because they have the wealth. Gambling is more noticeable with the poor because they always hope to win the big one that's why you see them always buying lottery tickets. Can we do this in a figurative way? Because I am seeing rich people gambles more than those poor people. This rich people are used to bet on casinos the reason the government are taxing a great amount to these casinos, poor people in the other hand gamble because they want to be rich in a one go the reason they always risk their money to it. But I think rich people usually gamble too since they risk their money into investing and trading, well, as long as you are risking something you are gambling right?

I don't think so. How about those people lossing millions in casino? It's clear that they are rich because they have millions to play. Most type of people goes to casino is from middle class and up. Poor ones only prefer lottery because you only need less than 50cents to have a chance of winning millions and they don't have much capital as those in the middle class and up to be in casino.

I think this applies to rich people who become rich from zero where they were struggling with so many efforts before they are rich. They do not gamble because they know how hard to be rich. On the other hands, those who are gambling to be rich (poor) are just people who do not want to make efforts. They only want to be rich instantly from gambling but in fact they got the opposite.

I have to admit I burst out laughing hard when I read the title, I don't even know where the stats were taken to reach such conclusions lol. Apply common sense and ask your self how will gambling work without rich people money, there're times when they do not gamble out in the open like commoners that's the benefit of being rich I guess. They gamble 100% more than what we can do, cause they play in huge numbers unlike us.

I think you just don't know about many rich gamblers so you will accuse that gambling won't bring you the wealth ? Of course it's hard but it's possible to do.

Rich people gamble more than others and those who have extra money they have to use this for the future and the bitcoin is good for the future and the rich people are using paper money for gambling while they know more abut gambling and in the gambling games are used to rich people while the gamblers are spending extra time in gambling but for the poor people they have no extra time to use.

False. There are lots of rich people that gambles. There's the reason why big casinos are flooding in Macau, Vegas, in Europe and in many parts of the world. Rich people loves gambling but these people are earning a lot. They're probably gambling a million daily but it should be very small compared to what they are earning in their business. Middle  and poor people are the ones that get lost.

I suppose it is because people with a rich person’s mindset think mostly about buying assets with their money whereas people with a poor person’s mindset only think about spending their money, and the only way they can think of becoming wealthy is by hitting the jackpot.

usually, rich person's don't risk their money for something that is not too important and they only think how to grow their money. and I think they only play gambling for just fun and not use too much money. I agree that their mindset is different than other people so they know how much money they need to spend on gambling games.

indeed the lotteries are dominate by poor people because they expect hit the jackpot and being rich people but beside that i think rich people still gambling but the different is they only pick the particular games to satisfied their hobbies and possibly rich people gamble only for fun and because they already rich then they does not care if they lost and back to gamble for the next day

Actually what the OP is saying is true, although there are some wealthy person who waste their money on gambling casinos just to pass their time and I’ve known some who are like this, and I’ve also known some who are less fortunate and strive hard to hit the jackpot because they feel like that’s the only chance they got to being wealthy; hopeful that one day they’ll be lucky.

The rich also gamble. But as I know, instead of looking for profit they have another agenda. Usually they play with a relationship in business or something similar to it just to make the relationship closer or make the relationship more strict. Business deals often occur from the gambling table.
Not all have that intention, they also played gamble and get addicted, I've heard some stories about a businessman loses his wealth because of
cockfighting, at first  they just enjoyed and its an addition for their social life but there's also a bad influenced getting so greedy and addicted to
the game and it will results to emptying their pockets.

My point too. Unlike the rich, the poor goes into gambling because they are looking to make some money out of it. But the rich, though its not usually that they gamble because of business deals but because of the fun in it. May of them, love to throw in some money whenever they enter into any casino, they love to be admired as the biggest and popular gambler with huge money to throw in any casino. An addicted rich gambler don't care if they are losing, they just want the fame and the ladies all around them.

It still depends on the type of person that you are because if you think about it they are the ones who are risk-takers and the risk factors definitely have a high-impact in whether you go out in profit or negative income.

I think rich people are the ones who takes risk with caution and thinks about what they could lose if they continue. When people who have less than them or just ordinary people, tend to risk more than they can afford to lose and that's just sad.

Well, rich people does spend the money that they can afford to lose while some of the poor people are not thinking carefully whether to spend them all because they wanted to double their winning by doing the martingale strategy.
In most cases these are the common scenarios on where poor or average people who do play gambling with their hard earned money because they do like it to get doubled or win big time unlike on rich people they dont really mind on losing because they already have alot but still there are rich people who are greedy on playing gambling which they are not contented on not able to make even more money.

No, mostly gamblers in a high end casino are rich people because they have a lot of extra money that are not compromise and always afford to lose, its rarely to see poor people inside the casino and the reason is not enough money to bet and being ashamed to go inside thinking without enough money. But gambling in crypto is a different story because of being anonymous gambler unless you have the asset to bet then all people the rich and poor can go on gambling.

Gambling is not a way to make us rich. People who say these are those who want to take advantage of the conditions on the gambling game, they could be a dealer. Back again to the point that the rich people are really smart people, and smart people will not choose gambling game !! They can think that playing gambling is just a waste of time. Smart and wealthy people will make investments that are far more beneficial and profitable financially. They will buy a lot of coins, invest in ICO and also do trading. Everyone will think like that, and I need to repeat that smart people will never play gambling!

There might be some point but not all the times because this is situational basis on where there are rich people who do gamble big time without any limits because he do know that he do have the money to spend on and he do only think on pleasure than on thinking up on making money even more. This would be just okay as long you do have already a passive income or leverage flow but if not even how rich you are and losing bigtime to gambling will really make you poor again.

I don`t agree with you. I believe that rich people play less because they have something to lose. They are afraid to put a lot of money on it, because they are very afraid of losing their money. Poor people have nothing to lose. They are looking for any way to get money. For many people, gambling becomes a salvation. This does not mean that they only think about how to spend money, or don`t look for other ways of earning. For poor people, gambling is a chance to earn money. While for the rich it is a rest and adrenaline rush.

Its actually the poor who bank all their hopes on lottery because they hope that they can change their lives by winning some money to solve their problems. The rich who have no problems related with money are going to just gamble for fun only and winning money is their additional reward.

Rich people tend to gamble due to entertainment purposes while poor people tend to gamble due to the mindset that it may alleviate them from their situation. Consider the two sides, rich people already have the necessary and sufficient resources to gamble while the poor risks their money more believing that the risk might be in their favor. Relatively, you are indeed correct and the article also suggests that the poor gambles more as compared to the rich. This may be relative to what they are earning since poor people tend to gamble everything while the rich may only gamble the money that they are willing to lose.
