aliitp2 I highly consider taking YellowSwap's concern seriously. Even with just the fan running it can reach up to 1000+watts.

I heard people use a small grow tent with a 6" or something intake blower and exhaust fan to cool down the rig. But designing and building a similar system would be cheaper and potentially function better.

if price is too high for you buy two PSU like 1000watts x2, yes its possible to run two PSU on one motherboard
Usually I buy a 400 or 500w ATX PSU for just the MOBO, then as many HP DPS-750RB server PSUs as I need. Each one can feed 2 RTX 3080's, 4 RX 6800's or 5 RTX 3060's. The breakout boards will have enough cables so that I don't need to buy 6-pin splitter adapters.

can you recommend a server PSU that that is silent enough to be used in an apartment ?

believe it or not my GPUs are kept super silent at 60-70% fan speed and cool in AC Air Conditioning and my PSUs are SILENT as am living in an apartment and cant afford something super noisy in here...

thanks,

The ant miner

https://www.ebay.com/itm/154977341362?

it will do 2000 watts on 220 volt power and is quite quiet.

BTW I picked that ebay seller at random

the psu has 14 six pin pcie cables  IIRC

and no other cable.

Are you planning on running an Air Conditioner? That's not so good because mining profitability isn't looking very good, Air conditioner will take lots of power too, it's better to use a table fan and increase fan speed instead of running an Air conditioner.

You should definitely not go with a too cheap PSU just to save a few bucks. If your PSU craps out, your whole system will be at risk. You should go with a well known, sturdy brand. Those no brand, cheap PSU’s will bring you nothing but trouble. Remember the quote: “I am not rich enough to buy shitty products.”

This is true, go with known brands to avoid further issues. I have been using gigabyte and sea sonic since then, currently I am mining with different cards both red and green mixed and no problems regardless PSU issues. For proc, intel celeron will do the job, I am using it also with an asrock BTC pro 13 slots, 8 gb ram installed and no problems at all.

That MZ490 gaming motherboard is a good choice for mining and its less cheaper than some mining motherboards, you are free to go after this one because I have the motherboard and it works beautifully, i can see that you are trying to buy cheap parts, I am with you on cheap motherboards but not PSU. .. BUY cheap motherboards and buy high grade PSUs, this is the best combination.

not sure if those unbranded MOBOs will work or give me extra headache ! its a nice deal though coming with everything i need including the CPU and 8 GB RAM !...

Bringing another rig in the picture would require more power to prevent the breaker from tripping.
I'm sure your well aware of this, I figure I'd mention it because it good for redundancy.
Assuming this is a home project, maybe look into wiring another sub-panel and install a Raptor PDU or Tripp-lite 240V PDU.
Also, sound and heat will go up, it might be necessary to think about a temperature controlled wall exhaust fan.

Lastly, I suggest building your own frame or enclosure.

I am in an apartment and don't have the knowledge to do any of that tbh...!

Buy a 1800 watt power supply or a server PSU, you can run all graphic cards with a single PSU, if price is too high for you buy two PSU like 1000watts x2, yes its possible to run two PSU on one motherboard, you need 1400watt to run all GPUs and extra 200watt for riser and motherboard power consumption.

1. 8 gig ram is enough for your mining rig, I have 6 gigs in mine (4/2 GB RAM) and it runs well.

2. You can use any CPU with your mining rig, low end CPU like Celeron are good because they consume fewer watts, since you won't be doing CPU mining it's a good pair.

3. Find the Asrock H510 motherboard, this is a mining build motherboard with 6 PCIe slots, meaning you will have an extra empty slot to add a GPU later

There is also a BIOSTAR TZ590 which is also a dedicated mining motherboard with more slots and its LGA1200, this has 9 PCIe slots for GPUs

These motherboards are available on Amazon right now, Good luck and happy mining.

thanks a lot,

while that asrock mining board does look nice, it will cause those cards to overheat (speaking from experience) since they will be extremely close to one another

ive looked this up on youtube:

i might stick with risers this way ill be able to have enough room between cards...

i might get this:

or

along with the G5905

It seems you are determined to stick with 5x PCIe slot motherboards only, you aren't leaving a room for any future upgrade which wrong, it was the type of miskate I did when I build my first rig, always go with extra space motherboard, mining is addictive sooner or later you will want to upgrade.

It's not so, but I'll have two PSUs for this build at maximum psu usage, so I haven't seen a build with more than 2 PSUs so what's the use of more pcie cards when u can't accommodate more PSUs ?!...

That's a LGA1155 motherboard B250C I guess and it supports 12 graphic cards, you will only need to plug in your risers USB cable without the PCIe x1 adapter, its a pretty good and cheaper motherboard for mining but since you talking about LGA1200.

its an unbranded board i thought by now you guys would tell me its a cheap junk but no one did  Grin Grin Grin Grin anyways i dont wanna deal with junk so will just stay away and get either of these:-

You will be running some higher-end graphic cards mate, they need a stable power supply or you will put them at risk, fins Corsair, Evga or OCZ power supply, I have killed a GPU with a Chinese 1200 watt PSU before, do not repeat the same mistake.

PSU is the last thing you don't want to cheap out on

i think its cheap coz its a non-modular PSU, but ok what the hell ... ill go with the more expensive:
FSP Hydro G Pro HG2-1000 which am using right now and i love it !...

will 2x of these be enough ?!

i calculated 300w per 3090/3080 Ti (4 cards x 300w = 1200w)
and 200w for the 3070 Ti total 1400 W !

thanks for the advise...
If you are sure about the quality assurance of this Hydro G Pro PSU then proceed, its just funny that I am hearing the name for the first time but there is always a first time for everything, you will need to either buy a Add2PSU to use two 1000 watt power supply or go the old version way ( paper clip ).

yes am already using the 1200w and it isn't cheap ! love it + the fan almost never spins which keeps it quite ...

@Aliitp2 why Aerocool Product? This power supply looks good but I have never seen any review about them before, I haven't seen any miner talk about this PSU too, why don't you find an EVGA Power supply? I can guarantee you that you won't have any problem with this product, many miners are using this power supply too.

hi

am planning to buy new components for a new rig build (before i had two servers lying around so used those for my previous builds) and I have a decent experience putting the parts together...

the GPUs am having will be 2x 3090s | 2x 3080 Ti(s) | 1x 3070 Ti ((ALL EVGA))

from what am hearing the lowest CPU, RAM and Board are needed, i mine using NICEHASH, and windows 11, is 8 GB of ram enough ?

as for the CPU is this ok or can i get away with something cheaper ? Intel Celeron G5905 LGA 1200 (45$ USD)

this is the frame am getting will it accommodate two PSUs and is the material OK ?
https://www.n11.com/urun/mining-rig-kasasi-12-li-siyah-12-gpu-anakart-koyma-aparatli-3680299?magaza=dharmaahsap

What board will support 5x PCI-E slots ? coz its kinda tricky sourcing those on LGA 1200 !... Huh Huh

how much wattage will i need spread across 2x PSUs ?

one final fatal question  Grin

I will probably need lots of 8-pin connectors, if splitters didn't do the trick, can i get away (for those high end cards) with 4-pin molex connectors (not sata) to power up the risers ?...

thanks...

i came across those AeroCool 1000w PSUs at a great deal for just 100$ USD each !! (will get two)
https://www.amazon.com.tr/AeroCool-LUX1000-kayna%C4%9F%C4%B1-1000W-alt%C4%B1n-90/dp/B08YJQZZD6/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_tr_TR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=9K066GJT0R9K&keywords=1000w+psu+rgb&qid=1651471227&sprefix=1000w+psu+rgb%2Caps%2C100&sr=8-2

review: https://aerocool.io/product/lux-1000w/

they got plenty of cabling but am only worried coz the 8pin cables are as short as 450mm, do you guys think thats long enough in a mining rig frame or not ??
