Guys, i'm building a new rig - reason is my 8-gpu Gaming X rig got sold and I got some sweet profit  Grin

I'm thinking to try Sapphire cards, but would like to have 8gb ones, if I could get a decent price. Here are my options:

8gb Nitro+ 570       - $350CAD
8gb Nitro+ 580 Ltd - $438CAD
8gb Nitro+ 580 SEL - $380CAD
4gb Nitro+ 580 Ltd  - $363CAD

I know most would pick the SEL for $380 but it's out of stock right now. I could wait for a week or so but there's no guarantee that I could snag 8 of them.

If I ended up selling it again, then I won't mind getting the 4gb 580, but if I'm keeping them, I would like an 8GB ones for future-proofing.

What do you guys think? I'm wishing to get my rig built and up and running before Byz arrives on the 25th.

I would wait another two weeks unless you want to get up and running before the fork. With the release of the 1070i we may see a drop in prices of 1070s which seems to be the bet value right now. If you grab a few cheaper 1070s or even the 1070ti if they really are priced in the low 400s that would be your best bet to go with for GPUs in my opinion.

Thanks for the information, didn't know 1070I will be coming out soon, guess its a good news if i wanted to pick 1070 up for my first mining rigs GPU there!
You will get the best results. It is hardware that has a good level of compatibility and performance. Then you just make the best setting of RIG you have. I'm happy if there are more and more people doing mining. This will help many things and a new technology will continue to grow in the bitcoin world and in particular the world of digital currency mining.

For gtx 1070, can someone share the best overclocking/undervolting combination please. I never tried it before and bit scared lol

It depends on which coin you want to mine. For example, you could try as following:

ETH: core: -100, mem: +400-500, power limit: 80%, fan speed: 75-80%;
ZEC: core: +100, mem: +50, power limit: 80%, fan speed: 75-80%.

For a stable operation, you should not overclock too much!

Thanks!! Let me try it out.

Alright really thanks for the answer to all my enquiry there, that's what i am looking for xp

How much should i expect based on the difficulty? Lets say 6 months later, should a -10% of current daily profit be good to take into calculations? or it will approximately be more based on your experience?

Thanks  Grin

No one can tell you for sure what's going to happen with cryptocurrency business !
No one can tell you where those difficulties go in the next 6 months !
No one can tell you it's going to be profitable for you or not !
No one can tell you how much profit you going to be able to make ! ( if you can make any at all )
No one can tell you the ROI ( return of investment) time !
Right now the estimated ROI time with a 6 gpu's rig is can be around a year maybe a little bit less .

For myself im still building rigs:) and hoping everything going to get better , price going up Wink

Yeah , everything is unpredictable i guess xp

Anyhow, guess 1 year pay off could be okay for me as i am currently finding ways to invest my trading profits.

Crypto Casino = Uncertainty
Exchange Margin Lending = Approx 1~2% monthly

So i will take a look into mining i guess, thanks for your help mate!

1) Been browsing through several threads, seems that Gtx1060-1080 / Rx470-580 are mainly the rigs people are looking for. As a beginner who doesn't know how to undervolt/overclock, which GPU would you people suggest me to get for the best $/hash?

I would say Nvidia 1060 cards / less heat in your room

2) Is there risk for OC ing GPU? Would it increase the rate of GPU breaking compare to the original GPU?

yes if you are overclocking your gpu , there is a better chance your gpu is breaking , mostly bc more heat from overclocked components or to much power draw ... but with proper overclocking/undervolting you can reduce the power draw , and the generated heat.

3) Lets say if i built a 6gpu mining rig in my room, my room is not open air and i sleep in my room. Is the temperature good w/o turning on fan/aircond? Is it noisy if i am sleeping in the same room as the mining rig?

Im not sure how big is your room , but one 6gpu rig might can heat up that room , depends on the size of that room , and the air ventilation, circulation. You might need to turn on the ac a couple of times during summer time. Winter time you might can heat up that room with that gpu rig  Wink one 6 gpu rig is not generating that much noise, i think you can sleep from that .

In the winter time i personally using  6-7 or 8 gpu rigs to heat my living room , bed rooms Smiley

Guess thats what i need to know now, if you think there are some other important thing that i should take notice on, kindly mentioned it
Thanks and regards

None of those profit calculators you are seeing on the web can tell you what's coming tomorrow , months later or 6 months later or a year later !
Those calculators telling you about today , at that moment when you typing in your information !
If you are starting to get into gpu mining , its not the best time , you have to be ready for a much longer ROI , than a year ago .
