Drug gangs have become a big menace in Brazil. The cocaine is smuggled in from Peru and Colombia via the Amazonian rivers and end up in big cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The drug manufacturers are indulging in mass-deforestation, while the smugglers are massacring uncontacted aboriginal tribes in the Amazon rain forest.

Why are certain bits of South/Central America the most violent places by far? There are considerably poorer swathes of the world where you're at far less risk of being slaughtered for no particular reason.
The most violence usually happens where the Gov has more control over it's people. Controlling violence is not a priority governments focus on because it helps with depopulation. They only step in when it affects their own interests.

A death and multiple competitors being robbed is bad and shouldn't have happened.

the favelas should be levelled and the scum who inhabit them properly dealt with but nothing will happen as long as they have voting rights and the power to help bring in leftist politically correct governments
Voting rights must be taken away from the criminals. Else they will elect criminals to represent themselves. And if I am correct, in the US criminals are not allowed to vote in the elections.

Governments has allow gangs to grow instead of smashing them to eliminate the threat to the citizens so this is the impact that can happens when gang members have as many rights as good citizens.

I heard that Brazil is very dangerous place to live, specially favelas.
I never understood really why they got chance to organize Olympic games.
It's obvious that they are not ready, to much political corruption, preparation work for Olympic games half done, crime problem, securtity issue etc.
Hopefully, no more problems during Olympic games.

perfectly completely agreed. Brazil is one of the most dangerous country of the world for sure but i hardly understand what the reason is olympic commitee let the country host olympic. Obviously, they took many risks. Fortunetly, something bad hasnt happened yet.
