I don't know whether that would be good for me or not. It is like a curse. When bitcoin falls, everything else in the portfolio falls with him. But if we enter a bullish run, then everything else will rise. If bitcoin's influence over other coins ends, then how are they going to perform on their own?

What the hell? No one cares about ripple anymore, and we all know that after all.
Ripple was just pumped like a skyrocket on december, but now, it is worthless and no one likes it anymore.

“There’s a very high correlation between the price of XRP and the price of bitcoin, but ultimately these are independent open-sourced technologies. It’s early, over time you’ll see a more rational market and behaviors that reflect that.”

Of course, coming from the ripple CEO, it might be a little biased. But I think he has a point. And later on, bitcoin might be less influential.

Do you agree or disagree? Why? Thoughts?
That means every altcoin will become independent but I think that will not be happening as soon as possible as you can see bitcoin still has a lot of domination to affect the altcoin price. As the main pair to the majority of altcoins and bitcoin will dominating the cryptocurrency. Maybe the dominance of bitcoin will decrease anytime.

I agree with this, but I think it won't be in 2-3 years. BTC dominance will gradually fall, ETH and Ripple will rise and % from all of crypto capitalization too.

It's obvious that he meant that Ripple would overcome Bitcoin once it becomes less influential. But from another point of view, there is an equal possibility that once Bitcoin becomes less influential, it will skyrocket one day while Ripple price will stay at the same level. Another interesting question is whether we could see the today's Ripple price at the current level if it's price was not influenced by Bitcoin.

Seems that such kind of potential market change has both, pros and cons as well.

That would be interesting to see, though I doubt it will happen soon. BTC is still too influential and I don't see that changing for now anyway.
