I think this is their attemp at recovery. Ripple has received i think its third lawsuit recently. This coin has been charged to have manipulated their pump in order to gain more popularity and more investors. Xrp has been known as the pump and dump coin so noone really cares about this free XRP. Only the newbies get attracted to these types of tricks

Actually it is a good move for them, but we cant take away the thought of a pump and dump pattern, since most of the alts in the market has the same pattern. They want a centralized crypto but crypto's are tend to be decentralized.
They are one of the most successful centralized tokens. Seems like they are not being able to have a real deal with the banks as they promised and are trying to find other ways of increasing the price. Airdrop would be a easier way to attract unsuspecting people to invest in it.
