Dreams of Coinbase adding Ripple’s XRP token were dashed on Thursday afternoon, as an official statement made it clear the speculation was just that—speculation.

I don't trust a word from Coinbase after their malnutrition with BCH last month. They may want to ruin price and buy cheap, then announce that they've changed their minds and finally will add it. For a nice profit.
But is short-term Ripple will lose some value for sure.
