As I understand it, Coinbase or Blockchain.info, for example, could work perfectly as the Ripple protocol in the future.
No need of XRPs or any other virtual currency. It is centralized, just as Ripple is, and you can send Bitcoin IOUs immediately between members. I suppose that in the future it may allow to automatically cancel debt between members, exchange bitcoins IOUs for fiat IOUs, and finally, you can send your assets to the Bitcoin blockchain for settlement whenever you want.

Though i think OT is more a trading platform instead a debt-moving platform like ripples main point seems to be. But i didnt think much about it since i didnt found a use for ripple yet and couldnt test OT.
OT is going to see a lot of development in the next few months.

I believe OT and bitmessage are independent from the bitcoin network. Bitcoins only can be implemented as a currency thats used.

I dont remember what it was but i remember reading about a coin or something that will replace ripple. Only decentralized. What was that?
