The thing is Ripple is more accessible to mainstream than Bitcoin is right now.  And in the future that could pay off big for them.

My question is, why did you buy ripple in the first place?

can't you just trade them for BTC using bitstamp as the issuer? i've been using it to trade USD and works fairly well.

If you have a Bitstamp account and a Ripple wallet it is easy to send yourself dollars and then go from there (buy BTC or what ever over on Bitstamp).

1. Get your Ripple deposit address off the Deposit tab on your Bitstamp account.
2. Log in to your Ripple wallet and go to the Send tab.
3. In the recipient field stick your Bitstamp ripple address, then in the "recipient will receive" field put in an amount based on current exchange rates (approx 50XRP/1USD right now) and select Dollars from the drop down (there are other currencies, including BTC).
4. You will see a message saying 'calculating paths' and eventually you should see a green button with 'send XRP' and an amount in XRP based on the exchange rate.
5. Once you've clicked send you should then receive the dollar amount over on Bitstamp after about 20-30 seconds, maybe a bit longer.

NOTE: Sometimes it take a while for the network to find a 'path' for the transaction. At the moment as there are not a great deal of gateways operating this is a bit of a pain, but as more people use Ripple for transactions, you should find this part speeds up.

The whole point of Ripple is that you can use it to interchange currencies across gateways regardless of what currency you are holding. It's a sort of Rosetta stone for currency exchange. Added to that is the fact that it is near instantaneous (when compared to BTC).

If you get stuck just send me a pm and I will see what I can do.

If this helps you out send ripples to rsbov5Pe4mpW9xv5rapikeXJZtYaBNzrPP

i sent you a pm, i know how these systems work and am willing to help you get out of ripple into good hard btc

if you don't want to sell to me that is fine

If you think Ripple is a scam why would you buy his XRP? Why not just show him how to sell on the market? It's easy.

to give people btc in exchange for it, and sell it to drive down the price. ripple IS a scam, it is not that I think it is.

i have given him full instructions on how to sell, but he has obviously already gotten burned by part of the process.

i think that is sad to be burned like that, and offered him a better rate than normal.
