Maybe try a different extension it should work , however please avoid this kind of solutions and try to use only pre-made  wires . Your extension should work fine but it is not the ideal solution and I strongly recommend not to use any extension .

6ft in length should be fine, I have tried with cables that long and had it working. I haven't used this brand before though

If using extensions, must be noticed:

1. Must match USB type such 2.0 or 3.0 although It is okay but in fact has difference.

2.Maximum of cable length because of if too length will influence to signal.

3. when installation must perfect because of if loose will influence power consumption to GPU.

I don't think 6ft is going to matter as long as it is a decent cable. Didn't you guys see that riser video Linus Tech Tips did, I think they did almost 15ft for x16 PCIe... I realize it wasn't the same cable or riser type.

if can, don't use an extension cable although your GPU is working fine. technically has a difference with or without extension. a difference in a transfer data, latency, and resistant.

Could be the cable is too long and the signal has deteriorated so the signal doesnt even make it to the mobo. At 6ft extensions thats alot for a 5v usb signal to travel   OR they arent shielded and need to be.
Yes could be both!
6 feet is a no go. And yes, they needed to be shielded.

Just saw a user above reporting fine 6feet cable. Ive read that you should avoid this kind of solution.

What does "better management of your rig" imply? Do you need to place your GPUs 6 ft away from your motherboard?  Shocked Shocked

You could get hold of at least one thick usb 3.0 cable of the minimal length you need for your management and see if it works, as a trial. One single cable male to male cable, no extenders. There's no reason why it wouldn't work. Once you determine what works for you you can buy more...

I didn't understand what you meant. All riser cables connect a standard length of 60 cm is enough to connect the GPU. I do not recommend you to extend these wires because you will increase the resistance of the cable and your GPU will not work properly. Use ready-made solutions to work. They are time-tested and do not require modernization.

Hello,

I have a question, I wanted to get USB 3.0 male/female extension cables for better cable management for my rig.

I ordered these https://www.primecables.ca/p-307309-at-u3-amaf-6all-high-quality-usb-30-a-male-to-a-female-extension-cable-black-6ft-primecables?_ga=2.98803160.733525227.1520436755-377805664.1520436754

However, they do not seem to work. Does anyone have an idea why they would not work?

Thanks!
